bro i heard open pod not recommended for auto car is it true and some said that in malaysia temp is high so it will suck in hot air and reduce the power at high speed.

advantage for turbocharge system... dun hav to worry about CAI or air box bcoz how hot the air coming in, there's always inter-cooler for you... hehehehehe...

dun hav la... i dun hav any lubang at kuching... i juz jalan2 cari kedai accessories if i need anything... btw recommended shops are Proride at Jalan Haji Taha & HLK Auto Accessories at Ban Hock (near Supreme Hotel)...

u at kuching now? no more at serdang?
open pod will suck more air than usual and will suck anyway in around the opening surface... to use open pod system, u need an air box, to isolate the hot air zone from the pod opening, the best if u combine it with cold-air-intake... here is an example..

this is a good setup

this is an unefficient/hot air setup
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

about the "not recommended for auto", i hav no idea... it shudnt do reverse effect since the function is only to allow more air to ur intake, more air, more fuel, more power...

thanks alot bro with the aid of the diagram i have a better idea now and may opt for open pod rclxms.gif

@Lhwj - 15w50 is recommended for our climate, doesnt matter mineral, semi or fill synth, thing that matter is the viscosity value..

10w40
15w40
15w50

Anything around that number... We dun hav winter here so juz disregard the number before W... The lightest for our climate is 30 but not for small displacement engine, like our beloved BLM...

sos kicap tamin: http://www.carbibles.com/viscosity.html#ixzz1KGhqaJJe

the conclusion for us in malaysia with hot climate is, use high viscosity oil so it wont get too thin in high temp and cause losing pressure..
*
Thanks for the info.

QUOTE(SiuYi @ Apr 27 2011, 10:13 AM)

why not full syn? coz too thin for our 1.3 campro. if ur using campro cps, then no issue. regarding technical reasons, i duno much. i just know reviews of using full syn, our BLM will lost its power and as well as heating up fast, tappet sound louder than usual. full syn is no no for our BLM if u love ur ride.
*
Um, but according to Omara's explanation above, it's the viscosity that matters, not the type of oil? Is it because thin oils like 0w30 are only / mainly available in synthetic and you're referring t those? I can understand if you say fully synthetic is a waste of a money (because semi is just as good?), but to say that it will damage the engine is quite a serious allegation when on the contrary the advantage of synthetic oil is supposed to be superior protection. So would you agree with me that thin synthetic oil like 0w30 is no good but the 15w50 provided to me by the SC is actually okay?

QUOTE(synex @ Apr 27 2011, 08:52 AM)
shocking.gif  shocking.gif 420km?? My 1st full tank only reached 240km and i'm driving a manual type. I noticed the car rev quite high or just maybe mine is still very new? Less than 2 weeks and haven't done the 1000km service. What is you guys car's rpm when then car is not moving?? Mine is at 1.8k and i think it is consider high. Can lower down? Please advice.  smile.gif
*
Mmm 1800 RPM is very high, my car, like Omara's idles at about 1000+ when cold and just below 1000 when warmed up.

You must be doing very heavy traffic driving to get 240 km on a full tank. When my car was brand new, for the first two months I'd fill exactly 25 litres (instead of filling it full) each time and I can remember even then I'd get at least 300 km out of the 25 litres. 100% Penang island traffic.

Here's how I get 400+ on one tank:

1. Switch off engine at red lights.

2. Shift gears up very quickly and keep revs low.

QUOTE(lhwj @ Apr 25 2011, 10:57 AM)
Actually the difference between my past few tanks is not so much speed, but acceleration. Keeping a light foot means accelerating slowly (less than 2k RPM in city driving tongue.gif) and changing gears up very fast. Typically, 1st just to get started, 2nd until 20 km/h, 3rd 20-40, 4th 40-60 and 5th 60+ onwards. Eventually I'd still end up going as fast as the road conditions will safely allow me to go, I really can't stand driving slowly anyway sweat.gif

But yeah, driving slowly does not give you better FC. You end up wasting more fuel because of the longer time you take to cover the distance. So my conclusion is, for best FC, drive fast but accelerate slowly. But if you accelerate kaw kaw, you still don't lose much anyway whistling.gif +0.5 L/100 km in my case. I feel your traffic conditions affect your FC, more than anything else.

*
Depending on how fast the traffic is accelerating I'd shift up even earlier. 4th gear at 35 km/h and 5th gear at 50. This is only for flat roads, or downhill. If you're going uphill you need to drag the gear longer or else the engine will struggle.

3. Find alternative routes to avoid traffic jams. Nowadays I use a long way to go home, it adds 7 km to my journey but the traffic is free flowing all the way and there's only two major traffic lights but without long queues.

4. Coast a lot, in gear. There's no need to keep stepping on the throttle when your car has enough momentum to coast till the end of a queue at a traffic light.

I think your high FC is due to the tuning and it should be back to normal when they fix it at your 1,000 km service.

On the other hand if you're idling at 1,800 RPM it must be pretty impossible to stall the car when moving off tongue.gif

QUOTE(areola @ Apr 27 2011, 10:58 AM)
Hey guys, I am about to reach 1000km mileage. Is it recommended to go slightly above or below 1k when go service?
*
It doesn't really matter. I'd try to go the moment it reaches 1,000 km but there's no harm if you exceed a bit. I went at 1700+ km and the SC didn't say anything whistling.gif

thin syn statement i agree. what i know is full syn hurts the ride.our campro macam dun consume full syn. even my mech tolds me that. i dun ask back the mech as they are normally tired of replying such questions.

yup.. full synth damage our car... the more detail explanation is, full synth with thin viscosity rating, which is available to most brands out there...

the full-synth given by the service centre to u was Syntium 1000, has the same viscosity rating with Semi-Syth syntium 800... it's safe for our BLM...

the main point is, check the rating 1st, price, brand, semi or full or mineral, that all later...
