I didn't know the detail since we have short interview call . Just my chances to be accepted is higher according to the recruiters. My main problems would be if I excel in the interview assessment and been given the job offer within 24 hours, I'm going to shit brick panicked once I know the penalty of breaking the contract.  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif . Rejecting the offer will mean blacklisted ...
1) Most of the technical jobs I've read need me to have 1 year experience.  cry.gif . And the worst, technical engineer need to know application level too (database, sharepoint)  where I've dumped all the knowledge since acquired the hardware prof cert ... rclxub.gif So, technical helpdesk should be my easiest first step in IT industry ... or should I take  CCNA to enter networking sides?  hmm.gif

2) By the way, I heard help desk level 2 and 3 tasks involve remote computing. Perhaps if I can prove my skills within the first 3 month, I'll be remain in the L1 grade and salary but my tasks is L2 or L3. Got any chances?
*
just try apply first la, when employers see your collection of certs, they will shocking.gif , not to say having certs is godlike, but having them still proves that you are up to something, that should be able to offset that 1 year experience requirement already

L2 helpdesk no need to pick up calls, and yes most of their tasks involved in remoting into end user's machines, things always won't go as easy as you plan to be, once you are hired to do L1, you will stay at there for quite some time

IMO, it is very absurd for the recruiters to even need to consider having you as L1 helpdesk, perhaps the thing that make them think twice would be your language skills, because L1 mainly need to be fluent in whatever language they are supporting, technical skills comes second.

since you got your master and bunch of certs, I assume your age would be at least past 25, starting your career from helpdesk would be a waste of time for you, career path for a helpdesk would be quite different from what your initial aim is, I know these because I seen what my ex-team leads were doing, and I just quit from a L2 helpdesk job.

So just wondering, are any lowyat members here self employed and making millions? Like those below 30 year old entrepreneurs who are making millions off a self made business?
*
perhaps you can spot them in finance & investment, audiophile, fast and furious, hardware, and etc subforums

look for people that willing to spend 5 digit on a TV, change/upgrade PC once a month, upgrading DSLR rigs and so on

there are a handful of them, well maybe not making millions a year, maybe its their parents who earn that, but the reality is, such people exists in this forum, you just need to guess which one nod.gif

How about downgrade from mnc to local? is it stupid move?
*
it's stupid for people to think that working in an MNC means being a "like_a_boss.jpg" everyday

note: many MNCs here are managed by local people, while they may share the infrastructure and brand name with their HQ, but the HR, BoD, and salary market rate, still largely remain local

wat if same level salary increase? Although is increase but local usually stingy your salary increment might less than mnc.. so long term u might lost
not to say big boss or wat but local usually more stingy and mnc have alot money can give big bonus and big increment and big benefit hmm.gif
*
depends lo, there's a reason for those MNCs to set up operation in Malaysia, mainly is due to cheaper cost mah

benefits wise yes it can win most local companies, but salary wise and increment opportunity, almost the same with local SMEs

previously i work mixed system engineer + technical support + internal IT + outsource IT exec, with 4 years experience, but only paid 3k
it is very unfair that i have to follow the no 100% incr rule after this

seriously i wont gonna be happy if still getting anything less than 6k for my coming job

any tips for me to negotiate it thru with a more persuasive way?
*
those 4 years previously were in the same company?

it was underpaid, but.. why did you let it happened to you for 4 years?

In malaysia the 3 top place to work for is oil n gas, bank then fmcg bro!!

SO many ppl die to work in bank cos of the $$
*
banking got higher starting salary, and more bonuses in a year, that's it
be prepared to work like no day and no night, handle the sheer amount of stress (for senior/manager level), experience a kinda unique office politics

btw, if you work in a bank branch, chances are you will most likely stuck in the branch for long time, meaning less chance to get in the main bank building like menara Maybank. In a bank branch, the most senior person would be the branch manager, basic salary is less than RM10k, or around that figure, is that considered alot?

don't keep misleading the youngsters, because of many people saying that by being an actuarial automatically means earning big bucks, many young people are flooding in the actuarial course in colleges and unis

but there's also significant amount of them either dropped off or changed into another course in their 2nd or 3rd year, due to unable to cope with the stress and academic load..

Lolz, I think you are right too. I think o&g company, MNC and oversea  companies do offer as high as RM3k and more for fresh grad.

Maybe, I was just frustrated with not getting jobs after so many interview that I forgot those facts. Thanks 4 correcting.

But correct me if i'm wrong, a RM3k job will need more of your time and effort compare to others? Or it is just something big companies do because they can?

Added on June 19, 2012, 8:16 pm

I think this depends on qualifications and experiences. A 24 years old degree holder is no more different than 22 years old degree holder.
Whereas, a 24 years old man is different than 22 years old degree holder.
*
many MNCs in Cyberjaya can easily give you over RM3k after adding up all the allowances

eg HP, IBM, CSC, T-System, and various IT outsource companies, the downside is you may need to work in shift in order to earn the shift allowance, which can be from RM200-500 or more

for other jobs which does not require you to work in shift, eg programmer, office admin, marketing exec, there's lesser allowance, hence lower pay overall

but bear in mind that, allowance is not basic salary equivalent, banks still regard these two differently while processing your loan/credit card applications
