Wanna share my experience in Seoul (went there for about a week). It was a very 1st trip for me & my friend there.

1st day - arrived around 10pm (local time) at Incheon. We didn't have a place to stay for the night (only book starting next day). Luckily for us we met a Malaysian student at the airport. He brought us to his house in Incheon area.

2nd day - raining in the morning (turns out to be raining every day during my visit cry.gif ). Then going to check in to our hostel backpackers INSIDE (http://www.backpackersinside.com). Located in Seoul which take 10min walk from Hyehwa station on line 4. I must recommend this hostel for those who want to feel like u are at ur own house. It is a very convenient hostel provided with free wifi, pc to use, tv, kitchen to cook, washing machine and dryer. I choose the cheapest one; the 6-bed dorm. Surprisingly, it is very good room with air-cond and very clean. Then we head to Itaewon to have our 'buka puasa'. There's a mosque up the hill which provide free food for 'buka puasa'. It is very nice indeed as we were joined by Muslim from all over the world. After that, we went to Myeong-dong to 'cuci mata'. Well, a crowded place for shopping but very nice. A lot of boutique you can find here. And to add more for me, I came during their summer sale. Have to control my wallet there drool.gif .

3rd day - well, today is just for us to 'jalan-jalan'. Since morning was raining, we only go out around 12pm. Went to places like Gangnam, Cheongyangni.

4th day - went to Nami Island in the morning. Woww, the journey took 2 hours by train to go there sweat.gif . But nevermind since it is a recommended place to visit (altho I didn't watch Winter Sonata much). Train stop at Gapyeong then took taxi to jetty. Ticket for ferry is KRW8,000. Now is the time to snap a lot of photos hehehe... a nice place with some landmarks from the drama. Walking around this island since bicycle is fully used by others. There is this event when we were there. I dunno for what occasion but kids from China and Korea together to perform on stage. After that, we went back to Itaewon to makan and Myeong-dong again.

5th day - in the morning it is time for a visit to Gyeongbokgung. Well, their historic palace it is. Watch their 'marching' routine (I dunno what it is). Then head to Namdaemun market. To buy some souvenir. There is one seller who can speak Malay rclxms.gif (he said he learn at his univ). It is not that cheap actually if it is converted to our MYR. But still, I have to buy for my friends and family here. Haha... our journey continue to their World Cup stadium. Planning to buy jersey but unfortunately the shop closed when we arrived cry.gif . In the night heading back to Incheon (coz we still haven't look around here yet). Stay at the airport for the night and our flight in early in the morning.

6th day - back home to Malaysia biggrin.gif

Some notes taken;
- it is a new experience for me as it is a fasting month. Well it is also extremely hard to find halal food except in Itaewon area.
- usage of T-money is very important.
- their subway is very very superb thumbup.gif with the system and everything. Can't imagine 15 lines of train in KL sweat.gif
- it was raining everyday during my visit cry.gif had to buy umbrella there and it limits our place to visit also.
- you can change MYR -> KRW at their bank. I got more compare when I change here hahaha... and we had difficulty to withdraw money from ATM. My experience is only Wooribank can do this sad.gif .
- didn't manage to visit places like Seoul Tower, Everland, Lotte World etc ... maybe on my next trip

urm...i stayed there for about 10 days i think. the money are mostly used for accommodation and food. as i'm a muslim, i can't simply eat anywhere, and those halal foods are quite expensive relative to other foods available there. I went to Seoul and Busan. Travelling to Busan on train cost me about 70k return. entering nami island and soraksan, you have to pay also, but that doesnt take much of your budget. I also use the money for some shopping.

i'm sorry i couldn't give you detail breakdown of my spending as it was quite awhile already. i just can say most of it was spend on food and accommodation, and since it was winter, somehow we feel hungrier all the time, so eat all the time also lah. haha.

edit: actually, i do have the itinerary of my trip, with some rough estimate of the expenses. if you like, pm me your email and i'll email it to you.

My trip in Sept cost around RM2,500
AA i got for RM624, Air Busan I got RM266
Accommodation Zaza BP Seoul, Hanok Style GH, Jeju hiking Inn and Incheon GH around RM560 (7Nights)
can get cheaper, but my friends wants to stay at Zaza
Makan not so fussy, usually breakfast and 1 big meal only. I budgeted around RM350, yup muslim food is expensive, I opt for veggie and seafood.
RM300 for entrance fee, RM200 for transport and Misc RM200.
Usually still got balance coz I'm not a shopaholic

How much depends on your choices
my friend got Korean Airlines for RM1,700++ while I got AA for RM624
Accommodation, motel might be around KRW40,000 per room per night,
Guesthouse between KRW50,000 - KRW60,000
Hostel not sure but it will be cheaper.
If you opt to go outside Seoul, the cost will be higher
if you want to go all theme parks, palaces and all those tourist attractions, it will cost you more.

the flight was packed. the flight attendants, hmm...okla, but they look *too* fair lol
comfort was ok, and the plane (777) had normal 3.5mm headphone sockets, so i can use my earphones instead of the lousy airplane ones
price was about RM1800 I believe, but that was handled by my company...
the food, so so onli, i had better food on Thai airways smile.gif

staying in Best Western Gangnam, super fast and FREE wifi in the room. You get your own wifi router+4 port lan for your room! 4D3N for about US$385...
walls are thin though, so you can hear all the door closing, furniture shuffling etc...

had a crazy day yesterday...let's see what the plan is for today with boss smile.gif

Can you please share more information on this ? I've compared the exchange rate on Woori Bank website and i can save about RM50 for every RM1,100 i exchange with them rather than doing it here with the local money exchanger. And may i know which bank did you do it ? I am flying Asiana Airlines from Kota Kinabalu and their boarding pass can get me 30%-60% preferential rate at Shinhan Bank and 50% preferential rate at Hana Bank. Please advise. Thanks.
