Now where to go to get this remap done?
*
As I know, TSI remap stage 1 is 200hp while GTI stage 1 is about 260hp. And we know there are few options out there. Exotic mods about 2k+ and someone did mention here that Revo is about 2.9k. Exotic claimed that their mod will not be detectable by VW hence it will not void warranty. They say that if we are worried, we could always de-tune it back to original before we send our car to VW. Is it that simple? Fa Wagen has quoted about 7k+ to be done by ABT but they provide 3 years warranty, means we will lose out 2 years given by VW. I'm very tempted to do stage 1 for my GTI, but I risk losing the 5 years warranty if I opt for the cheaper options. Anyone can really advise on this?

r u sure FA Wagen ABT giving 3 yrs warranty - warranty on their product or on our car ?

cos the last time i asked , they said zero warranty. do it at your own risk. so i said what for then you charge 7k ?
*
Well If I understood correctly from FA Wagen, they actually mean 3 years warranty for the car. Means if you mod the car from day 1, if any problems, the warranty covers the car as per the VW warranty. After 3 years, its on your own. Its kinda vague if you ask me. That's why I'm bringing it up here.

It's confirmed that newly arrived 2011 GTIs new additions are only the front DRL and nothing else. No Detroits, Cruise Control or RCD510...sigh so sad. Also, it seems that the gear knob has been replaced with the one found in the new scirroco. Even the material for the GTI logo on the steering wheel is different now. Doesnt sound good to me, but I will be checking it out tomorrow.

Did you happen to take any pics? I don't quite like the chrome GTI tag on the steering wheel. May consider changing it if the new one is nicer and more discreet.
*
I just saw the car too. As expected, front DRL like the TSI, not as garang as the Audi A4, nevertheless it still looks cool and nice to have. As for the new GTI logo on the steering wheel, it is definitely nicer looking! The word GTI really stands out this time. For the gear knob, the new banana shape is quite sleek looking but I still prefer the older golf ball shape since it is unique for the GTI. Banana knob is now standard in the GTIs, Scirocco and PAssat CC.

it looks similar to those cheapo LED strips ? lol
if ure happy with ur 2010 gti then keep it that way.

i think the DRL's look nice.
i got it fitted on my 2010 gti
*
As I said b4, the DRLs on the GOLF TSI and GTI not as nice as the ones fitted on A4 but nevertheless, I still think they look cool. Looks is subjective la, no point debating about it. Some like it, some don't. So for those who dont have DRLs or dont like the DRLs, dont be sourgrapes and try to make those with DRLs feel bad la. After all, DRL is not just about enhancing the looks of the car, it is there for safety purposes. Anyway, let's not debate about this, we are all VW family here and I'm glad VW has gained tremendous popularity over the last 1-2 years! biggrin.gif

There is this hero here who loves his Altis 1.8 VVTI and he managed to "smoke" a Golf TSI from a traffic light standstill.

Quite a funny thread here hehehe tongue.gif

Last week, along NKVE, I saw a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 and I smoked it with my stock GTI and outrun it easily. Then later came along a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and it tried to overtake me but it was struggling to do so. In the end, I won the race but then *slap slap* I woke up and damn its just a stupid dream.

Haha, I wouldnt even waste time racing with a Altis 1.8 Vee Vee Tee Ai. Waste of petrol coz even a stock Polo can smoke it flat. Haha thanks Mavik for providing us this entertaining thread. I had a good laugh!

This is the latest offering for all new VW owners and should put a smile on your face. Here' the writeup from Paul Tan website....

Volkswagen now[cool.gif offers 5-yr roadside assistance in Malaysia[/B][SIZE=7]

Yet more in the way of value-added items for Veedub owners – Volkswagen Group Malaysia has announced the start of the Volkswagen 5-year premium roadside assistance programme.

As its title suggests, never fret if something untoward happens to your VW – rather than finding a tow truck in the dead of night, relying on friends or family or simply counting on someone to stop and help, a single phone call will have assistance on the way.

The offering follows on the 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage that was launched by the company last year; both that and the 5-year premium roadside assistance programmes are offered to new Volkswagen car owners who have purchased their cars from 2009 onward. If you’re a VW owner, it’s all great stuff, undoubtedly.

Just called YR Auto and they now said I do not need to leave my rims there for 3 days. They have a brand new set of Denvers already polished like your rims. I just need to take my car there and they will just switch it for me. I'm just worried they swindle me and give me a set of used rims in exchange for my brand new rims. Do you think they can be trusted? Any advise here?

That's the specs for Europe. Quite unlikely it will be offered here locally for the Polo Gti knowing how VW works here. Even the Scirocco 2.0 at RM245k only comes with RCD510.

Collected my CW GTI today. Still trying to get used to the DSG gearbox and slightly stiff suspension. My MFD shows that my bending lights are faulty and the indicator light was on. Need to bring it back to verify this problem. Another thing, I noticed some slight "hissing" noise whenever i tekan and when the turbo kicks in. Anyone facing this problem or is this normal?

Actually I have a program installed on my phone which populates all these details for me.  smile.gif
No, actually it is more like around 60% highway, 40% city.
I somehow think RON95 on GTI could be underpower (maybe someone here would disagree?). Even on my previous Civic FD, I pumped RON 97. I felt much smoother acceleration and more power.
*
Bad news for all RON97 users. Price will increase to all time high of RM2.90 effective midnight tonight. Damn, just when I'm about to try 97 in my new GTI!

Just notice some whistling noise from my GTI mk6 during warm up period on the morning and the sound is getting louder and the turbo timer after shuting down the engine is more frequent. After googling for solution i found that kinda many ppl met this problem and most of them blame is the water pump issue that causing such noise, any guru here can help verify this problem? My car just run for 6xxkm mileage only. Btw indicator showing nothing error on it and no power lost.

*
Yes I'm also facing this sound in my 1 day old GTI. But I noticed the sound is only there when i switched on the A/C. Anybody else having this problem?

It seems my neighbour who recently bought a GTI also heard the hissing sound. But I dont recall hearing it during my few test drives months ago. The hissing sounds like water running kind of sound. Any other GTI owners here experiencing this?

Brother so sorry to hear. Now I'm worried about my GTI ... so far ok lar. Hopefully it stays that way.

Just wondering, are you using the stock radio or did you upgrade to the RCD/RNS510? I upgraded to the RCD510 and am quite worried that it'll suck the life out of my car battery since the screen is always bright (no dimming mode I think) when I turn it on.
*
Sigh I was also thinking of upgrading mine to either RCD or RNS but now im thinking twice about it. What about rear LED? Any GTI owners here have installed the rear LED and are there any problems after installing?

After doing some googling for the past 2 hours, it appears that the hissing/rattling noise during 2.5k-3k rpm accelerating is a common issue for all GTIs worldwide. The source of the noise is from the downpipe and not the wastegate as originally claimed by VW. Some mixed response on this, some find it unacceptable while some can live with it. But at least now I know there is nothing wrong with my car. Hope I can live with it!

I read whole of this thread I see a lof u VW owners facing some 'minor?' quality issues.

Pretty dissapointed as I am/WAS planning to get Polo as my second car.

I am NOT saying i was expecting a zero defect car, but too many defects.
*
Honestly speaking, quality issues happens in most cars that I've driven. My previous cars Ford, Hyundai, Honda and Peugeot all have quality issues. Maybe I was unlucky. In fact, I've had the worst experience with the honda civic 1.8 (contrary to what people say about jap cars) with all the mysterious rattling noises and other many quality issues. Most of them have different problems. I cant say much about Porsches, Bentleys or Aston Martins as I would probably never have a chance to own these brands but I'm sure they have some share of quality issues as well but maybe not as much as commercial cars. My friends that drove BMWs and Toyotas all have quality issues as well. The real issue here is VGM selling too many cars and their lack of professional expertise and service centres are causing these frustrations among owners. But I'm sure the situation will improve with more 3S centres popping up. Naza and Berjaya Mazda is having the same problem, their cars are selling well but their after sales service sucks big time. Of course, luck place an important part with the quality of cars we are getting. Give the Polo a second chance..
