Yup too many defects from other VW owners. Also a high price for a car that size as well. Go ahead and consider other Marques but I still do encourage you to at least go for a test drive. That way you can also get a feel of the cars drivability before condemning it

I had the same issues with my Civic 1.8 as well! First batch 2006 model. So many problems faced especially after passing the 100k km mileage.

The FSI is actually tougher and better made. Its also able to take more power, which is why the roc/golf R uses a modified FSI instead of the new TSI engine

if you are going to search tru forums looking for car problems, you will end up never buying a car...i guarantee you that EVERY brand you search will have problems... you think paying a million ringgit will prevent a car having problems? anywone remember the ferrari recall last year? where new ferraris were bursting into flames?

research is good...but too much research makes you a hypercondriac. You are searching Aus and SG forums...VW cars are made all over the place....diffrent batches, diffrent parts, diffrent factories..

if you search SG forums..u will get a TON of posts on 1.4 gearboxes exploding and failing...but it doesnt affect us as its only 09/early 2010 cars that were affected and VW SG has rectified the issue.

anyway..thats what the 5 year warranty is meant for...peace of mind for 5 years. if u are worried..then go buy a civic (incidentally...a forumer here got the Golf after numerous problems with his civic)

Service - Yes its bad...but im willing to give them chance to improve, the current dealers are not equipped with the HUGE surge in VW owners

- thats also why we can always go to trusted outside service centres for servicing outside the normal schedule servicing
Quality - Im just as annoyed over quality issues as the next person, but new owners mustn be scared off....ppl tend to b**** and complain over the net more....but for every complaint theres probably 10-20 others who are perfectly happy. VW quality is no worse then BMW or Merc.

also  it's not written premium 8 version but got confirmation it's the version with camera input (for rear cam).

Had a bad experience with my GTI too.
1st day i got my car battery dead on me at night.
Car was dented even before it was delivered to me.

My GTI seems to be having quite bad FC.
Collected my car with 60% petrol and it went 200km when there's 20km left stated in the MFD range.
Pumped 52litres after that. Wasn't throttling it when i got it though.

After I pumped full tank, MFD showing me range 460KM.
I was like "ain't it suppose to be at least 10km/l?"
I didn't have the AFS failure indicator showing up though, but a lil rattle sound from the driver side door panel.
When I drive through uneven roads, it has some noises coming out from underneath my car.
Not sure what's the issue but I'll ask them to check tomorrow.
Will be sending my car back to TTDI to repair that stupid dent 

If the dent is caused during the shipment then it can be returned.
I think the dent is caused by some ladder or something.
They mention in the delivery agreement where I signed, "To repair the dented part to it's original and perfect condition".
They promised that it would not be noticeable at all after repairing.
I hope that is true. If I still notice something I was freaking make sure they repair until I can't see anything wrong!

just to share something here....since I got my car last month, I've been using Caltex Ron95. Everything seems smooth and good power. Today I tried Shell Ron95 because my fuel can't last until I can find a Caltex petrol station. I feel the engine is not as smooth when gear shift, then when I press hard on the pedal, I can't feel the pull that I gets before this on 2nd gear with Caltex.....hmm

Would like to have more input and data from other GTI users to conform this....if possible i would stay with Caltex for now.

the noise i hear from my GTI is my tire sound only..
maybe cause its using RE 050
very little wind noise from the windows

i've seen alot of youtube reviews saying that they improved this MK6 noise so that u wont get alot of wind noise compared to the previous mk5

if i off my radio only thing i can hear from my car is the turbo spooling @ 2.5k rpm and the exhaust sound

Yea, even civic can go 200km/h.
Never tried on mine b4 i sold it off though.
But seriously, I was cruising on MEX just now and a civic just tailgated me when I was at 140-180km/h.
I was only able to shake him off at over 200km/h. I'm feeling the stress trying to drive so fast especially with the traffic during peak hours

its the sound of the turbo spooling
cause the turbo turbine is at the back of the car engine thats why u can hear it when the radio is off..

i'm loving the sound actually haha

but with the radio on cant really hear it at all..
cause when 2.5k rpm the exhaust sound also kicks in..

yea the speakers are not that bad actually haha..
just put 1 monoblock + sub should be enough... if not mistaken there is amps powering the speaker thats why the sound quality is quite nice..

for me i dont think i'll change to 510 looks nice but not really neccesarry for me..
for that price i rather change full set APR turboback exhaust..

im not sure.. someone said the full set is around 8k+

u can get it from VW glenmarie 2.7 + warrenty and original..
cause the sales guy told me sometimes aftermarket led lights need to redo wiring and will void warrrenty..
that 1 he selling plug and play...
