Haha.. Isn't google maps sufficient enough?? GPS Apps for iOS still can't replace the real things anyways, especially the Malaysian version

You know you don't need the 3G version to use google maps right?

Anyways, I thought you already have a Asus A42Jv, Acer Aspire One Happy.... Still need an iPad? LOL

Google Map is not exactly impressive because even my house road has not been updated yet even though I have lived there for 2 years!

However, if you have Papago on an iPhone already, which is extremely accurate and helpful, what's the use of a iPad with GPS?

If Malaysia launch in April then singapore should be a tier above Malaysia so it might launch earlier right? March 25 along with the 2nd tier markets maybe? Or 2weeks earlier than Malaysia, which will put it early april? As long as it launch in Singapore it doesn't matter when Malaysia is launching since anyone who wanted one can fly out and buy in Changyi airport. that is if you are really desperate lah.

I'm in the US right now.

If I want to buy the 3G version and I want to use Maxis in Malaysia, I should buy the AT&T one right?

Would I need to unlock/jailbreak it if I want to use it in Malaysia?

If you r outside with no WIFI. and your IPAD is not 3G,
Then how you get the google map to give you direction via GPS.

You have to somehow download the map before going out right?
Can you do that on ipad??

Only 3G models has GPS tied in. Anyway I find it just uncomfortable using such a big gadget as GPS - you placed it infront of you at dashboard - it just takes up too much space and you need to buy a holder for it. It is more of a novelty.
Actually if one drives a car any of the available GPS units is anytime better - you can choose screen displays from 3 inch to 5inch. And if you already have a smartphone, most of it nowadays has GPS builtin

Things to note:

- iPad (first-gen) is carrier-locked in certain (unfortunate) countries, and the US of A is excluded from this.
- With the release of iPad 2, it's confirmed that it shall not be locked to any carrier at all.
- If you plan to purchase an iPad from the States, please get the AT&T one. Verizon's CDMA networking is useless in Malaysia, as all major Malaysian telcos use GSM.

- Only the iPad 3G has a-GPS (assisted GPS), which means the GPS uses some data from the network to assist in locating you.
- And as for Google Maps, you need some form of data connection (Wi-Fi / 3G) to be able to download the map and pinpointing your current location.
