Where did you did your check up? Didn't they explain to you?

Many of us has herpes. Not everyone will show symptoms but quite a high percentage of the world population has herpes, especially oral herpes. It's easily transmitted during our childhood. Just watch out for cold sores, no oral sex and kissing when you have an outbreak. Google up for more info or see your doctor.

Might want to call them up for more info.
If not mistaken, it most probably means you have been tested positive for HSV-1 Antibodies. I'm not sure about lifecare medical center but usually if I do any tests at BP, they'll have a simple consultation session with me explaining my test results.

Otherwise, might want to get yourself retested at another center.
Again, there are many of us who are asymptomatic carriers of the virus without knowing it.

Hi gUYS,

I did herpes test and the result came as per below;
HERPES SIMPLEX-1 Ab, IgG, INDEX - >10

HERPES SIMPLEX-2 Ab, IgG, INDEX - 0.00

I never have any herpes symptom, and i did it as pre-marital marriage screening, wt does it means by >10?, do i have HSV 1?
*
HERPES SIMPLEX-1 Ab, IgG, INDEX - >10

- most likely past infection of oral herpes. To confirm whether you're having it now or not, proceed with HSV-1 IgM testing

HERPES SIMPLEX-2 Ab, IgG, INDEX - 0.00

- negative genital herpes infection

My layman knowledge:
HIV/AIDS not contracted via saliva, but by blood can... so if tongue has a cut, then good luck to u!

Toothbrushes not to be shared... coz brushing of gums might cause bleeding (for hardcore brushes) and thus contract the virus via the toothbrush

spreading by anal sex... dono how its spread... but know that any sex wif HIV/AIDS person is habis liao... tentu spread ady

both have cuts in mouth, yes, can contract if 1 of em HIV positive...

Thats my layman knowledge... maybe those in medic line can help.. ehhe

p/s: my Ques: If have sex wif a person HIV positive but am wearing condom... can the virus spread? thanks

Yes, even if you wear condom, virus can still spread because condom can ONLY REDUCE risk of transmission of the virus not 100% preventing it. Once you get HIV/AIDS, it is a notifiable disease- means everyone will know especially your family members. And if you don't seek treatment for HIV/AIDS, you will not have a peaceful death, you will get so many types of diseases and you will suffer until death.

Bear in mind, getting HIV/AIDS is not death sentence but you can consider yourself on your way to death. So no joke, HIV/AIDS is the scariest of all STDs and so far it has NO CURE .

Another thing is, wearing condom doesn't prevent transmission of Herpes Virus AT ALL coz herpes virus is so small that is can go pass the condom. And if a woman gets herpes virus, can have chance of getting cervical cancer later part of life. For men, you will get herpes virus infection....(can even get penile cancer)

Basically by anal sex, sure got tear in the rectum or anus because the anal part is not meant for sexual intercourse so if something were to penetrate that place, sure tearing and bleeding will occur, that's how the virus spread.

Have you people heard of Hepatitis B? Hep B is spread by saliva so yea, French-kiss also will get Hep B and you have 1/3 chances of developing liver failure and once liver failure , unless you get liver transplantation within 24 hours, you'll die no matter what.

HPV 16,18 cause cervical cancer, that's why women who actively changing partner are recommended to take screening (pap smear), mostly HPV transmitted by men (healthy carrier) icon_idea.gif

Homosexual men are more prone to get HIV because of buttsecks brows.gif , but in HIV some people need 10 years for full blown AIDS, so you can still piap piap around and destroying others human life

Herpes is hmm not that but for HSV2 can cause neonatal infection, for mothers, be careful

Hepatitis B is mostly being transmitted through blood, blood transfusion, needle prick and others and yup and it can cause liver failure. But Hepatitis C is the main one here because of its unstability and it can change shape therefore our body immune hard to recognize them. Hep C mostly cause of Hepatocellular Carcinoma. When you have HepB, you're most likely to have HepD too, yup say what ? blink.gif We got Hepavax for HepB but for HepC no effective immunity ! tongue.gif

Herpes virus (HSV), as far as I know, does not cause cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is caused by HPV. The 2 types of HPV already mentioned by pallidum earlier.

HSV (Herpes) also got two major types - HSV 1 (mainly oral) and HSV 2 (mainly genital).
HSV can be transmitted without sex. Especially HSV1, many of us don't even know we have the virus and are asymptomatic. It is most often transferred to us when we were kids, it can be spread through sharing of food, kissing on the lips. Oral sex will increase the chances of HSV1 being spread to the genital. Herpes, as far as I know, is harmless, you'll get outbreaks of cold sores whenever we trigger it. But that's about all. And a large population of the world has Herpes.

HPV on the other hand, have over 100 types of strains. Some are harmless and are the main cause of genital warts, but some can cause cancer. Which is why women are encourage to go for pap smear and check ups at least every 2-3 years once they become sexually active.

No worries. I mix up the two sometimes too. laugh.gif

And yea, you are right. Condom doesn't prevent 100% from transmitting both HSV and HPV viruses. It'll reduce the chances but still, there is a possibility of getting it.

Me too usually got mix up because they all comes from the same family herpesviridae. HSV 1 and 2 are HHV1 and HHV2 while HPV is HHV5.

Don't worry, the objective here is to create awareness biggrin.gif

Hello guys, recently take a std test at bp lab include hiv test after 28days of exposure

All result came negative, the problem now is that I know hiv conclusive test is at 3 month after exposure but I also know that newer generation of test can give quite accurate result earlier.
The result they gave me stated they tested the hiv with EIA methos. Is this same test with elisa? and what generation do bp lab use

Pretty easy. All you need is some contact through mucous membranes and wounds. Go ahead and give it a try.
