QUOTE(1ullaby @ Feb 28 2011, 06:53 AM) After reading this thread I felt the quotation I got is so expensive! not necessarily the contractor overcharge ... 'koz if they're contractor of good workmanship, they would use enough material to make sure the job is done properly and the outcome meet or above client's expectation ..I have bathroom totalling 350sf floor+walls and the contractor wants to charge me RM2800 for labour + hacking. That works out to be RM8 psf : ( Although he mentioned that water proofing will be done, still ... Do you guys have any contractors contact that can do a more reasonable price?? |

QUOTE(wrb7878 @ Mar 1 2011, 01:31 AM) BUT i believe it depend on tiles size as well. Let say, if the floor area = 1000sqf. A. If use 1'x1' tiles then 1000tiles x RM3.50 = RM3500 In this case price is 3.5/sqf B. If use 2'x2' tiles then 250tiles x RM7.00 = RM1750 In this case price is 1.75/sqf. means less tiles less work???? QUOTE(wrb7878 @ Mar 1 2011, 03:14 PM) The person quote me if 1'x1' tiles = rm3.50pcs i dun think the contractor u're negotiating with right now is professional enough ..if 2'x2' tiles = rm7.00pcs not 3.5x4=14/pcs tat why i ask maybe 2'x2' tiles less work than 1'x1'...1000pcs compare to 250pcs? usually contractors would calculate the labour cost by sqft .. not by the size of tiles.. and if u wanna save some cost, sometimes when there're tile promotion, large size tiles, for example 16' x 16' might be cheaper in total tile cost, compared with if u buy smaller sqft size of tiles. |

QUOTE(wrb7878 @ Mar 1 2011, 04:12 PM) I found this contractor from MUDAH : Website :http://zekpainter.blogspot.com have u tried getting a few more contractors' quotations ?He quotation for tiling charges also based on sqft..... 1) RM 3.50 psf for labour + cement + sand 2) RM 1.00 psf for hacking 3) RM 4.00 psf for wall tiling 4) RM 250 for water proofing per bathroom 5) RM 3.50 pf run for skirting Then this is he quote me for 600sqf excluded tiles: Hacking floor tiles 600 x 1.00 = 600 Install tiling(2x2) 150 x 7.00 = 1050 Disposing rubbish 600x 2.00 = 1200 (condo price) Install skirting 100 feet x 3.50 = 350 Total RM 600+1050+1200+350 = RM 3200 (to install tiles with material, skriting and disposing rubbish) |

QUOTE(bteoh @ Apr 3 2011, 07:57 PM) went to Niro this afternoon and quite impress with its tile!!!! nice....but price also nice....wonder if any1 here used NIRO tile? How much discount they can give from the quoted price? i asked those ppl selling tiles, they said in fact Niro, Guocera, MML are about the same quality ..In terms of quality, is NIRO the best out of guocera/mml? Such a good quality tile, sure need a good sifu to do tiling, am i right? else rugi....the alignment all will determine the final look of the tile also. Can any1 here share whether any typical tiling person also can produce nice results if quality of tile is good? And u're right. It takes good sifu to do these kind of tiling. u need to find those really experienced in laying porcelain tiles, 'koz those are large-size tiles and need more laying material and work. Not all contractors know how to lay porcelain tiles *properly*. A good contractor, b4 laying these kind of tiles, they would lay a relatively think layer of cement on the hacked floor (if hacking jobs needed), wait for this base layer to fully dry in a few days, then only proceed to lay ur Niro/Guocera/MML tiles on the base layer. On the other hand, a contractor who doesn't really have much experience in doing procelain tile laying jobs, chances are they would put a few big dots of cement in the 5 corners under the tiles and then lay on the floor... So in the years to come, the tiles, after going thru differences of high and low temperatures along with the weather, would start cracking ... Mayb in any day out of the blue u would suddenly heard a strong "pop" sound when it cracks.. This is some of the things i heard from a procelain tiles seller and also saw from some online video clips. Thus finding a realiable contractor thru word-of-mouth is critical. |

QUOTE(zie86 @ Apr 6 2011, 11:08 PM) bteoh, +1The tiles are same quality and same color code. My best bet would be they taken it in big amount, so can get cheaper. Many different brands available there like Guocera, MML, White Horse, Citigres, Murano, Venus, Garuda, Prestige, Alpha, Kimgres, Niro and Johan. You can pay a visit to believe it, SuperCeramic still give good price based on my survey. If you got other selling cheaper, mind to share because I haven't get the required number of tiles from my contractor yet. Thanks. super ceramic's price are pretty competitive |

QUOTE(Lya1982 @ Apr 13 2013, 07:58 PM) Hi anybody know what is different between homogenous, porcelain and technical porcelain tiles. Which one is superb for table top. Also wonder which brand is ok white horse, guocera or MML? tq guocera and MML are tough and thick enough for the table top and especially for the flooring.guocera in general are with higher pricing. u may try to consider MML procelain tiles if u want resilient, thick tiles, but at much cost effective way. There're many places having the tiles on sales. Jln Ipoh tiles shops are among the good place to look for good quality tiles at good price. QUOTE(~Curious~ @ May 15 2013, 11:31 PM) Whitehorse i have no comment. But MML have the similar resilience quality as Guacera etc, but at much cheaper price.Try walk along jln ipoh, and u can see for urself the many different types of tiles. At times there would be sales season that u can find good tiles at cost effective price. |
