any hints on the battery life? if it can match or tops current ipad's 8-9 hours continuous usage life, then it is a good buy.

I believe somewhere in engadget mentioned about battery life. anyway its 6500mah, way more then the previous tab.

Should give around the same life as the previous due to the dual core?

The current TAB is reported to have a battery life of 7 hours on continuos video. Seriously I doubt anyone will be using it continuously on video. Having use the TAB for 30+ days, I can confirm for a mix usage of browsing, calls - SMS, some videos, audio it can easily last up to 10 hours

Just to quote an experience of mine on the TAB:

Yesterday I was on the road from 2 pm and did not use by TAB at all until 9 am this morning. That is about 20+ hours in standby mode - battery life left 42 %
However during this period the TAB is still online solely on 3G updating:

Emails - refresh and download 4 accounts ( Gmail, Yahoo, TM, 1 biz account ) every 15 minutes
Weather ( 2 apps Fancy Widgets and Palmary Weather Pro ) - every 4 hours
RSS Newsfeed/Tweets updates - every hour

quadband i presume is phone able
that make it better than xoom

if samsung make the border frame dark steel color and remove the flashy back camera and the circle samsung logo plates then it will score more

I also do not like the back design. It looks like a gaming pad.

Motorola mentioned that Xoom is not bootloader locked, since its Official Google's honeycomb flagship. But you'll never know until someone got their hands on one

No need . Not even need to be a millionaire - as long as you are in a 5 figure monthly income bracket, you can afford all these stuffs

Some latest tidbit news from GalaxyTabbing about the Tab 10.1:

t’s time to dazzle your friends and family with your amazing knowledge of the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Here are five amazing facts about the worlds most popular Android tablet:

1. Samsung partnered up with NVidia to design and prototype the new Tegra 2 dual core processor for the upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1. Ever wondered by Samsung would use someone else’s processor to power up their line of second generation touchscreen tablets? It’s because the Nvidia dual-core processor was made available before their own. “It was purely a time to market issue” as per Khan, Samsung’s Chief Strategy Officer. In fact it was rumored that Samsung had their own in-house design team working on a dual core processor, but it they just couldn’t bring it to production fast enough to keep pace with the completion.

2. Samsung has chosen RF Micro Devices, Inc, a global provider in the design and manufacturing of high-performance radio frequency components and compound semiconductor technologies, to enable a broad portfolio of next-generation 3G/4G devices.

3. The camera on the Galaxy Tab has an innovative feature called ‘Smile Shot’, that will automatically trigger when the subject smiles.

So is this tablet an upgrade of Tab 1 or just a competitor for iPad?
Tab 1 can be used as a phone while ipad is just a netbook.

I'd think it is meant to compete with the Ipad and other 9 to 10" Android/Windows tablets. The current TAB would remain as a high portable tablet cum phone

Alas only a dream. There will never be an ideal 99 perfect machine. Sometimes I think these various manufacturers are in cahoots with one another , giving us a consumers a wider choice. And we endup spending, changing and upgrading from one to the other
Anyway I have yet to test camera - better test it afterwards just in case it is not working.
