Samsung has taken the opening salvo against the iPad 2, coming out with the would-be iPad killer, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The tab is more iPad-sized, runs Android Honeycomb platform, takes 8 megapixel photos, allows for improved video chats with a 2 megapixel front-facing camera and includes a one-gigahertz NVidia Tegra 2 dual core processor to power everything. Some could say it's steroids-injected version of the 7-inch Galaxy tab. Dubbed "the ultimate entertainer," the tab is being marketed as a mobile multimedia hub for those who want to take their leisure pursuits — games, e-books, Facebook, Twitter, music and movies/TV shows — on the go. Besides the bigger screen, the dual surround-sound speakers add to that private theater effect. It's also lost the glossy back of the smaller tab and is slimmer. Excerpt & Edited from Technolog

Engadget quote 13 Feb :Samsung says the 10.1 will be launching in March in both Asia and Europe -- Vodafone will be the first carrier to nab the Tab -- but it had absolutely no timing details for the US market. Price? We've got no idea, though we're told it will be "competitive.
HONEYCOMB the latest Android version 3.0 specifically for tablets
On Feb 2, Google officially launch Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The hour long event was subsequently posted on Youtube.
A new Motorola XOOM was used to demo the new OS doing a fantastic job showing off Google’s new tablet-only OS. From the new home screen and app-switcher UI to the revamped YouTube interface and the email application — Honeycomb appears to be much better suited for tablets than currently available versions of the OS, and Android fans are right to be excited. This new OS will be on the new Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Google announced that Honeycomb will feature an easy to access multitasking toolbar, showing your recently opened and running applications, all from the home screen. Honeycomb will improve the way widgets can be displayed, allowing for developers to create widgets that are based on collections of data, which will allow for the user to run apps in 'little windows' on your home screen.
Android 3.0 will also come with a new notification system, with toast popups in the lower right-hand corner. The notifications can now contain images of friends when they send you a message. The notification system will even allow for apps, like a media player, to appear on screen, for quick access.
Honeycomb will come with hardware acceleration, and with just a single line of code, existing applications can take advantage of the 2D hardware acceleration. Honeycomb will come with a new engine for powering 3D graphics on your devices. Lastly, Android 3.0 'Honeycomb' will allow support video chat, with a supported handset or tablet with a front-facing camera, using Google Talk.

wow...uncle benny, plan to buy this tab in future?really hope can get honeycomb on galaxy tab..
I am very interested in this Galaxy Tab 10.1 BUT I don't plan to buy it, at least not when it is released. I might buy it much later on just for fun, main-main saja , to explore the wonders of Honeycomb. Anyone bought one and later wishes to sell at reasonable cheaper price - just PM me.
The reason is simple . I ask myself why do I need a 10" tablet ? I am very comfortable with my current 11" MacBook Air which I bought to replace the 9.7" iPad. For a tablet - I will look for first most PORTABILITY and versatility - I must say my current Galaxy Tab doesn't disappoint me. I must say this is one of the better purchase decisions I have ever make
But I am still interested in this iPad challenger . I started this thread to follow its progress and will make it an official thread later when we have more information, pricing and release dates

Clove also got pre order .... Is it a right decision to sell my iPad to get halaxy tab 10.1 ??
Only you can answer this question ? Just ask yourself what you need/what is important on a 10" tablet - your answers will decide for you. I'd also say any decision to whether sell off the ipad should wait for what is in iPad 2. Maybe what you feel lacking in ipad could be resolved in ipad 2?

I love my iPad uncle Benny. No lag at all. Actually I don't think iPad 2 can beat xoom or galaxy tab 10.1. Just my 2cents. Just want try honeycomb. And I'm also samsung die hard fans. Haha .....
i love the hardware and the design. But compared to xoom, it seems laggy. Hopefully the final version is much better because i preferred samsung's hardware
