Hi there all... Welcome to V2...
felt weird as i couldn't find V2 so i open it...

copy and paste from V1... more to come...

Hi Folks! notworthy.gif

Feeling weird that there is no Toyota vios owner's thread here, and soon I getting one, i decided to start a new thread for all vios owners and those potential buyers seeking information on the toyota vios, both previous gen and the current gen! This also acts as a info sharing hub for all vios owners.

This is open to both 1st gen (2003-2007) and 2nd gen (2007-current) owners

Continue from V1...

Regarding top speed, I floored it yesterday at highway, when car hits 180km/h, feels like car lift up from the road. I can't reach 200km/h. Donno why.

Regarding warranty issues, I contacted SC before installing fog lights.

actually i wanted 185/60 r14... but the shop dont have enugh stock for 4... and i also dont want to make another trip there... so take the 65 series... does make the car acceleration drop a bit... but really improve the ride comfort... so far is ok for me...
*

QUOTE(AllexKing @ Feb 22 2011, 12:24 PM)
Since this thread meant for Vios owners, I would like to raise question that members could face in their lovely Vios.

My air-cond could smell outside scent even all windows shut up properly when i on the air-cond. Do some testing myself which is off the air-cond & windows while i speed in highway. Just put your hand at the air-cond blower, you could still feel the air still coming in from those blower.

Is there anyone facing the same problem with me ? If yes, how do you rectify these problem. If the blower compartment not fully seal properly, dust & smell could come into our car easily.

Kindly advice how to rectify these problem.

Thanks in advance

Happy Viosing
*
hmmm i think your refresh air flap is not seal with foam properly... you need to ask aircond ppl to do it for you leh... and you need to dismantle the whole dashboard to have access to that flap near your windscreen...

QUOTE(AllexKing @ Feb 23 2011, 11:54 AM)
Yup u r right.
I tried to dismantle air-cond compartment to see which area exposed to outside air, and found out the the air flap foam not really works properly. I used tape to fully cover the air intake hole from the wiper area. ( Dismantle wiper & the rubber surface, u can see air intake hole ). But currently faulty smell still entering inside car.

Any other suggestion ??

Thanks

P/S - My tyres going to worn out soon. Kindly advice what tyres suit me best. (of course best of bucks)

1) 195 55 15
2) 195 60 15
3) 185 55 15 (Current dimension)
*
well not sure u need to patch things from inside or not too...

for the tires... try 195/55 R15.... if not 195/50 R15 is the best choice but 195/55 R15 is more comfort...
195/60 is over size... what do you expect from your tires??? Comfort, Handling and Noise...

Michelin PS3 (RM250~280) is low noise, good handling. good wet & dry traction but the comfort is acceptable...
Bridgestone RE001 (RM250~280) is low noise, good handling, good wet & dry traction but comfort is so so...
Hankook V12 Evo (RM200~220) is good comfort, good handling, good wet & dry traction but noise is slightly noisy...

there is some others tires too, let us know what you expect on Handling, Comfort or Noise so that we can give you more accurate recommendation...

may i noe wad is the best tyres for fit 2006 Vios w/o changing the stock rims?
current size is 175 65 14.
*
185/60 R14 you can go for Falken 912, Yokohama C Drive 2, Michelin XM1 or Certis, Toyo Teo Plus...
I think you give C Drive 2 a try new tires just reach our shore... smile.gif

QUOTE(vexus @ Feb 27 2011, 01:06 PM)

michael9413@ is it ok to have 195/60/15 for my 2003 vios, will this increase the ride comfort? im now using 195/55/15.
*
it is over size... try 195/55 R 15 tires with more comfort...
you want comfort and quiet drive and does not care about the handling isn't it???
C Drive is good for you, C Drive 2 is here but this size they did not have stock yet... u can try Michelin Primacy LC and also Toyo tires also... toyo tires are know of softer sidewall but at thie size all their tires is performance type and it is directional, directional will give you a lil humming sound after sometime...

my rear bearing spoiled... so need to change whole hub... cost me around RM300 for the parts and labour... smile.gif i buy the bearing from spare parts shop (ori) then take to a shop to install...

QUOTE(AllexKing @ Mar 1 2011, 10:45 AM)
Yeah my thinking also more to 195 55 15.
BTW is there any good recommendation which around 180.00 - 200.00 budget a piece.
Aeon Centre - Continentel offering 4 pieces @ 880.00.
Kindly recommend location of trusted & cheap tyre shop.

One more issue, let say the alignment are out, do i need to listen to those installer to install the nut type in order for them to adjust my vios alignmnet ??

Thanks in advance
*
Conti CC5 i think or worst CC1 (old model)...

if you don mind a lil noisy, Hankook V12 is much better... below RM900 u can get others tires also like Yokohama C Drive, Falken 912... better than Conti entree level tires...

the nut is Camber nut and it is not alignment problem.. it cause ur tire to have uneven wear, inside and outside thread wears problem...

QUOTE(AR~S @ Mar 3 2011, 08:01 AM)
In terms of comfort, does other tyres give a significant change compared to the stock tyres? Let's say the 14 inchers for the 2nd gen vios.

Also, will changing tyres void any part of the warranty?
*
no changing tires will not void your warranty... hmmm like Hector said... Primacy LC will give you the comfort.... but for the 14" u can try 185/60 R14... u have a lot of choices there...
Entree Level - Michelin XM1 or Certis
Premium Comfort - Michelin Primacy LC, Yokohama C Drive or C Drive 2 (just arrive),
Toyo Teo Plus is great but it is a lil expensive, or the most expensive among all RM200/pc at least...

stock tires GT3???? or even the old NCT5 sucks...

QUOTE(AllexKing @ Mar 3 2011, 11:00 AM)
Yup for the chamber adjustment. Is it recommended to change that nut ??
Its cost around 100.00++ per piece a side both side will cost 200.00++
*
as Kazami told you don need to change the nut if the setting is not affecting your tire wear too much...
and the nut is not that expensive... if you say RM100 i believe but RM200 too much... the most i heard is RM120 only...

QUOTE(kazami @ Mar 4 2011, 03:38 AM)
for a normal person or normal ride, u dont need to add it... unless u r racing type which prefer to have better handling then go for it.
if a normal car havent accident before, u dont need to as original chamber setting wont go off easily.
*
you are correct... smile.gif
