btw, does anyone know where is the water temperature in the meter display? i only see the fuel bars and mileage on the display.
*
it's somewhere around the meter. it will glow in red or maybe blinking if the temp rises, so i've been told. never seen it action though.

how to spot the difference between that 2 type..?
*
visually may not be easy to differentiate, bcoz nowadays PU quality is getting better. If you knock with your knuckle, the ABS sounds more solid, whereas PU sounds like plastic. Some say ABS is ligther than PU. for original bodykits, you can see 'ABS' marking at the back of each item.

Bros,
Going to take my new vios next week and already looking for tyre at few shops.
Plan to change to 195/55/15 size tyre.
In dilema now, PS3 vs RE002 vs v12?

I first priority is quite and comfort. Any advice?
*
err.. those are performance tires.. none will be quiet.

i'm using PS3. it is not quiet. noise is moderate. however, for a performance tire, the noise can be considered low-mid.

if you want silent and comfort, choose tires like CC5 (best bang for buck), Primacy LC (discontinued), bridgestone GR90 (expensive) and new goodyear efficientgrip (not sure tire size available or not).

I am getting my Vios this week too. I plan to either change the steel rim to 14" sport rim. Any sport rim recommendation and price ? If i want to change to 15" sport rim, what will be the recommendation as well ?
*
upgrade to 15" better. more tire choices and it will look nicer. 14" too small for vios.

Yesterday just back from Bridgestone tyre shop. Look at RE002, the sidewall is harder than PS3. Understood, it's performance tyre.
My sister drive vios G using RE080, i am quite accepateble that level of noise.

but not sure about RE002. any comment?
*
i have used RE001 before on my older car. yes, the sidewall is harder than PS3. very nice handling but to me PS3 is more all-arounder, comfort level is just nice for a performance tire.. not sure of RE002 but it should be better than RE001. RE more garang looking than PS3 though.

with one is better...? should i change my 14" rim to 15" or 16".....??
any suggestion..

14" too small for vios.. and most tires are narrow, not good for handling.

15" you have plenty of choices. very good performance/budget ratio.

16" looks nicer, but heavier rims and tires are expensive for this size.

for budget conscious buyer, 15" is recommended because for the same money of 16" budget tires, you can buy a high performance 15" tires.
just compare the prices of the same tire model for 15" and 16".
also, there are 7" rims width available for 15" where you can fit 205/50/15 tires, which are very popular among performance kakis.

if money is not an issue, 16" is best. but need to invest on lightweight japanese rims for counter the weight disadvantage.

to me, 15" is best all arounder, while 16" looks best aesthetically.

So hardcore on that... may not need that rigid as I am not racing man (maybe sometime lor vroom vroom)... happy.gif
just found out that the spec. It comes with "Front: MacPherson Strut with Stabiliser" .... so I just add in the tower bar will be sufficient? please advice. (main purpose for flatting the bump and highway as awalys sweat.gif )
*
honestly, just front strut bar and rear anti roll bar is sufficient for most drivers. the front already have anti roll bar (stabilizer bar).

Add bars will make the car heavier then makan minyak, right?
*
the heavier the car, the more minyak it will makan, simply because you need to tekan more.. just imagine you ferry 4 ppl with full luggage.. sure need to press more to accelerate.

you can add all available bars for the car. if they are made of steel, the car will be heavier a bit.. a bit la, not much.. that's why i suggested only rear antirollbar and front strut bar are enough.
this is why well-known manufacturers produce bars with aluminium, not steel. increase rigidity in the same time will not add more weight.

Those who are curious about the changes for current vios:

Finally UMW has learn that most J spec owners changed their steel rims.. Good but very slow move (as usual) from UMW Toyota. shakehead.gif
Smoked headlamps are a nice touch.
New seat fabric - should be improved coz the old J-spec fabric is a pain to clean!
Dual airbags - i think they need to add more 'value' since the market is getting more competitive.
Grille is so-so, coz not everyone like the G-spec style.. but for J they dont use chrome instead of body-coloured?

The sound of the engine very loud and the i bought "E" specs without the shield, wonder how much does the shield cost...  hmm.gif

Don't expect the bonnet insulator to do magic.. I got it fitted and there is little improvement, maybe around 5.783% noise reduction. Joking aside, there is little to no difference before and after installation. Maybe it got rid of the high-pitch noise.. or maybe just placebo effect.

anyway you can get it from toyota or aftermarket one sold by a forummer here in lowyat (two nicknames, but actually the same person). shakehead.gif
