From 0 to 100 km/h,vios 1.5 manual take how many seconds ?

Strangely,I can't find any info regarding this through the net......
*
Check youtube, got a few videos there.. I tested once, but didn't record.. feels like 8-9secs..

Guys, which aftermarket brake pads would have a similar feel to the original Vios brake pads? Better still if anyone knows which company/brand it is for the original brake pads.
*
I asked around, but nobody seems to know (or care) about it.. I suspect it is similar to Bosch Power Plus, coz it is less dusty.

Have you tried the Bosch one yourself? If yes, how did it feel?
*
have been using it on my other car for quite a while.. similar performance, almost no dust.. that's why i suspect vios pad is from bosch.. last time the packaging is in yellow box, with 'Power Plus' label.. now the box is in blue and no more 'power plus', just Bosch.

Any noise when braking a little bit harder? I still remember there was once I went for an aftermarket brake pad from a workshop near my place (not a Vios though), after replacing it there's some sort of grunt sound when I brake a little harder. Was kinda annoyed with that. After driving the Vios, I really liked the feel of it (yes I know there are better brake pads out there with a better bite but I don't need so much bite based on my driving style, I just like the feel of the ori brake pads that came with it). laugh.gif
Thanks bro, you've been a great help! biggrin.gif

P/S: Otherwise I might just try the Bosch PowerPlus brake pads, it isn't really expensive so if I don't like it, not much damage done.
*
No sound when braking hard. Trust me, the bosch pads behaves similar to the ori Vios pads.. they might be the same afterall biggrin.gif The best way to find out is to visit a reliable spart parts shop, ask them to take out Vios and Bosch pads together and compare.. if you can verify the vios pad is original, then get it if the price is much lower than the price at SC. bosch if i can recall correctly must be < RM100.. i've bought it a few times..

The 2nd option is bendix metal king. it wont produce so much dust but still dusty after 1 week of use, and can be noisy at times. Bosch (power plus) is the best balance between Price/Performance/Dust nod.gif the only bad thing about it is not all spare parts shop are selling it. I bought them at PH Auto, PJ.

the reason why i thought 0w-30 is too thin is all due to my vios manual stating Xw-40.
*
for Vios 2011, the manual states recommended lube is 10W-30. I do not know about older vios.. maybe its xW-40.

what I gathered around the net is ppl around the globe are using xW-30 lube, some xW-20, but most manual (in different countries) recommend xW-30 for 1NZ-FE. only in malaysia toyota is too slow to realise xW-30 is safe to use in our climate, coz older Toyota Genuine Motor Oil (TGMO) only offer 10w-40 minimum, and they have changed to 10W-30 now.. still, Pennzoil (maker of TGMO) hasn't got the xW-30 blend for fully syn, whereas you can get xW-30 Pennzoil Platinum at spare parts shop.

I still think xW doesn't matter in our country, because it is a rating for cold temp.. in malaysia, our cold temp is not so, err.. cold.. laugh.gif

From Toyota service center Buitterworth, never mind i manage to get it done by changing one of the mounting n cost me only RM150.00 n no need to change the whole set of lower arm, now the stupid undercarriage sound its gone rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif
*
a bit of effort to seek for a second oppinion (in this case, another workshop) does help rclxms.gif rather than relying solely on the SC.

for quiet tires.. so far the best bet is CC5, because PLC no longer produced (not sure about this). XM1/2 too expensive for an entry-level tire.. PS3 is great, but noisy lar.. but still a lot better than NCT3/5.

I got 1st batch of Dugong G. My experience for NVH, Honda Civic is only a bit better. And Altis is tiny bit better than Civic. And Sylphy is whole lot more quieter than both. For MyVi surprisingly my experience told me is a tiny bit better than Vios.
p/s:  I drove and sit as rear passenger for the car above.

pp/s: And I feel Lancer is in the same league as Civic too (just only rear passenger). (or a bit worse)
*
myvi better coz the engine is quieter.. but overall insulation is about the same as vios.

Hi guys. Bought my Vios in 2005. After 6 years, it's now making sound when I turn. I believe it's the drivshaft.  Brought to Toyota service centre and the technician told me the price is 6k for 1 pair sad.gif

Any of u guys here changed ur vios driveshaft?  Is there any other reliable brand I can use other than Toyota? Hope u guys. An help. Thanx
*
just go to any spare parts shop, they will be able to help you.. maybe got cheaper drive shaft, or recond model.
or could be just the CV boot need to be replaced instead of the whole shaft.

toyota tipu wan arr.. always use outdated tech.. haha. relax la..engine option still not known for new vios.. could be 1.3 offered for new J spec.. who knows rite? or maybe UMW being greedy (as usual) will stick to 1nz-fe but with CVT.. for sure kena whack kaw by other fanbois.

best if they can offer 1ZR-FAE (1.6 dual vvti with valvematic)

the new yaris is said to have better chassis rigidity and weightier steering.

Impossible lar...dude...Even the new Altis is not using this engine yet..so I dont think so they will put this new tech into their lower entry car.. Somemore their new Yaris is using 1.3 Dual VVTi only.
*
just saying only.. but knowing umw toyota being so stingy, it might not happen tongue.gif if its only 1.3l, then the dugong will still be the best laugh.gif

i think now most of the car maker is looking forward to use smaller engine cc and improve on FC....
*
true, but to counter the loss of power, turbocharged small cc makes much more sense for power and engine efficiency biggrin.gif

Hi guys...loan approved, number bought.

Vios G Spec , collecting in 2 weeks' time.

When i get my car, what should i be on the lookout for?
and I heard that I should never rev my car unnecessarily in first few months. Is this true?

Dear sifus, please advise? biggrin.gif
thanks!

The salesman should give you a checklist to tick items available or not during delivery. After that you can sign the document. Check for paintwork la.

Drive as per normal for the first 1000km. Normal i mean as you would drive daily. No need to think whether to drive fast or slow.

J spec lacks the sound proofing of higher spec compared to E and G.
For No.1, ur engine hood lacks the soundproofing material to absorb the engine noise. Your car bonnet also lacks the black cushion material.
*
I'm not sure if the J lacks the soundproofing compared to higher variant. Other than the under hood and rear bonnet insulation (which are for aesthetics only, doesn't help soundproofing at all), nobody has proved that the E, S, G, TRD variants have more sound proofing materials installed (door, cabin, floor, etc).
