U all blacklist Shell engine oil but most of u here tried Shell HX7 rite? What about Ultra? Am I gonna be the guinea pig here again? doh.gif:

Added on March 7, 2011, 8:13 pmHX-5 is multi grade oil. HX-7 is synthetic but not fully, if I'm not mistaken. Ultra is fully synthetic.

I ady black list Shell helix series ady.. The Shell base oil degrades too fast ady. Nvm lah u be guinea pig again and see how good is this oil compared to Edge.

I think it only happen when the engine is cold..
Mine got some funny sound when my engine is cold or early in the morning  doh.gif
*
Nope.. When it has run quite long also still got the sound.. I suspect is last time when i went to COSE there to complaint bout my timing belt that time they must have sprayed it with WD40.. As u know u can use WD40 to lubricate timing belt.. So when my car had accident that time it was stationary in the workshop for quite some time.. And then after i got the car only they had sound all the time.

It's not that I'm staying away from Petronas' engine oils. It's just that it never crossed my mind to use Petronas. LoL. Even when I serviced my car at Proton also they offered me Shell, no Petronas.. CoSE offers Petronas, but I not sure about their price lah..
*
Well at cose Syntium is 97 and shell is 99.

Totally agree on ZenGTMM. Pour away bout 500ML to another bottle and pass the balance to SC.
This will totally control..SC never listen one or those service consultant forgotten to pen it down on the jobsheet.
Now I felt much lighter and better response. Using 10-40 Castrol Magnatec.
*
But u pour away so much leh.. 1 bottle only 4L u pour away 500ml balance 3.5L tak cukup.. haha.... But do keep the balance so u can top up back lah when u want.

Which Syntium? At Rm97, definitely it is not fully synthetic anymore. Most likely Syntium 800 semi-syn.

ya the syntium 800 semi-sync.. 10W-40 rating too.

QUOTE(jasondotcom @ Mar 7 2011, 10:59 PM)
never ever ever use wd40 on any rubber parts / materials especially on timing belts or accessory belts. it will deteriorate the material very fast. if needed, use only silicone based lubes as it is safe for use.

FYI, timing belt do not or ever makes any noises (be it squealing, "chit chit chit noises") in the morning like some forumer states in here. only accessory belts will make noises after some time. to solve it is very simple really and you dun even have to replace it just because it makes noises. either use silicone based lubes / spray OR rub some candle wax under the belt where it runs over the pulleys. kawtim.
*
Ya loh.. Have to assume the COSE ppl know this mah.. The silicon based lubes.. Any brands for example?

QUOTE(summer9uy @ Mar 7 2011, 11:00 PM)
Yeah I know..Sendiri top up.
now show half of the max on the dip stick.. rclxms.gif
Previously was over the max..now can barely felt the differ.
*
maybe you should top up somemore leh.. If put too less also not good as engine might have trouble keeping cool and also might affect the oil being splashed onto the cylinder walls too..

QUOTE(ngeo88 @ Mar 8 2011, 09:50 AM)
I have doubt on the problem if changing tiers to lower profile or rim to bigger diameter will affect the actual km/h reading, it also means that our mileage meter reading will never provide accurate reading. Exp: we suppose to change lube each 5k km but since the meter not accurate we can't count just to add 5000 to existing mileage.
The average fuel L/100km also not accurate any more, because ECU use the mileage meter reading and fuel level to calculate the average fuel consumption. Is it why many people have different comment on FC after changing rim and tiers.   blink.gif
*
U can actually calculate the difference out easily.. When u choose the new tire, calculate its diameter and percentage of change in radius.. Then u adjust ur mileage according to the percentage difference lah.. Actually it will still be around the same one lah..

When u pop ur bonnet. See the left hand side towards the top right of the wiper tank there inside got a belting with some pulleys.. Thats where the water pump, compressor and crank pulley are all located. The cam pulley are at the top of the engine but covered with that grey cover like so u cant see where it is lah.

It has been a generally known rule that for Proton and Perodua cars Shell petrol does not work well with the engine.
Esso and Caltex has been the best bet so far.
