Hey guys im encountering , blue screen when playing sims3 / dead space 2 halfway .. and restart itself sometimes....  any solution ??
and also if im still using the first batch 1 , if i go Acer centre does this mean i can switch to the 2nd batch 1 or what ?

Reply ASAP thnx smile.gif
*
i dunno abt the BSOD problem.
im answering abt ur 2nd problem.

if u have scratch, i recommend u to get the mobo swap option like i did.
afterall i guess its the only option left as the laptop swap option has expired.
i changed my mobo and it is as good as new.takes 2 days only provided the mobo have arrived at ur service centre.
i recommend u place the mobo order first at the highpoint before turning ur laptop in.
ur data wont be affected at all

What about Acer, what will they probably offer me? Unit swap or mobo swap? Can I ask for a full refund?

Or should I contact the shop in which I bought it?
*
i dont know abt Poland but laptop swap options is not available now as the offer expired in March.
U can swap ur motherboard or ask for full refund.
But i guess u should check with ur service centre first abt the available options.

BTW, if u check in Acer website using ur S/N and it says urs are not affected, it safe to assume that ur laptop is using the fixed 2nd gen chipset.

i just do a partition to my hard disk.after do it the partition my laptop start running slow and my windows experience index down from 5.9 to 5.7.HELP ME !!!
*
mine is 5.8 all along since the day i bought it.but then again im using the 1st batch of 5750G with fixed chipset with only 1GB GPU.
i guess urs is 2nd batch 5750G with 2GB GPU.
and yes i did partitioned my hardisk yet the result is still the same.

is it a must to get to highpoint ?
*
yes.highpoint is their authorised service centre.if u call acer, they also ask u to go to highpoint.
dont worry,u dont have to pay a penny for the mobo replacement.

i do partition at hard disk C since it only it and i using 3rd party software.i do big space at new partition(E) 400gb.my C now is 181gb .after do the partition i running the windows experience index and it drop from 5.9 to 5.7.so i feel like something wrong happen when i do the partition and the laptop kinda slow from before.i also forget what windows experience index that drop but i think it 'dekstop performance for Windows Aero'.I JUST BOUGHT THE LAPTOP 5 DAYS AGO
*
maybe u do the partition wrong.i guess theres must be some balance between C and other drive.im only usiong Windows partitioner.my C is bigger than my D drive.
And i keep my experience index score at 5.8

i donno which wrong.
i put that 400GB (E drive) as logical not primary.is it ok?
*
i think u do it right.what i mean is that the partition ratio is not quite right judging from ur complain that your laptop running slow after u doing the partition.
im playing safe so i use the windows partitioner in Win7.
the only advantages as i know is i cant set the size of my C drive.

but dont expect the bluee LED plastic cooler works effectively.
if u can, always invest in a good aluminium cooler for your beloved laptop.

I am using this blue led plastic cooler and I am still having temperatures like 80-90°C.
Can you make more test with your Cooler Master U3. 1-2hours of gaming and monitoring temperatures?  smile.gif
*
1hr of gaming my max temperature is 72 degrees with my U3 fan running between 50%-60% speed.
Previously i set my fan speed at maximum and the temperature is 66 degrees.

It's nice. (Are you monitoring temp all the time in background?) ? Do you have all 3 fans at left side (side where is the notebook cooler) ? I am thinking about buying this cooler. Are you satisfied with this cooler ? smile.gif
*
yes. i run CPUID at the background during gaming.
1 fan directly under the ventilation vent,1 fan just below the first fan near the RAM compartment. 1 fan beside the 1st fan.
speed between 50-60%.
Yes i am satisfied with U3. I highly recommend this cooler to anyone who is having second thought abt it.

just testing the cooler at max speed during gaming.max temp is 68.
i guess u can expect a temperature difference between 4-6degrees between max speed and 50-60% speed.

I just reformatted my lappy due to BSOD i encountered after installing Windows 7 update from Windows site. I believe the update us Service Pack one. Im not quite sure why it gives me BSOD and completely corrupted my OS as my Windows failed to load after the BSOD.
BTW, my BIOS is v1.10 as i already changed the mobo in highpoint

btw guy if you run some processor stress test without notepad cooler how fast you reach on 80°C ? Because after 5 sec I have 70°C and after 10 sec i have 80°C. And when I stopped stress test after 10 sec it is again 50°C. I think there must be something wrong with thermal paste or sensors. Sometimes it jump from 45 to 60 for 2sec. I think it is physically impossible.
*
i never run stress test on my lappy.i dont even know any software to use for the test.lol

Btw how u format ur laptop?
Using the recovery disc that u burnt earlier?
*
yes.i only formatted the Windows partition as i havent backed up my D drive as this is unexpected circumstances.lol
but the formatting and installing the drive n bloatware will requires some time.
I remove all the bloatwares after the installations.

Today I bought cooling pad U3 and still have temperatures 80-90°C on CPU during gameplay. But on GPU is only 73°C max. This is strange because cpu and gpu is connected to same cooler. I think there is bad thermal paste on CPU because first month of using there was max 83°C during gameplay without cooler.
*
how to u positioned the 3 fans?u need to positioned it right for maximum cooling.
and the speed level also plays an important factor.
for normal usage i set the speed at between 50%.during gaming i set at max speed.

I do.

And I sent my laptop to Acer Service (great, I had to send it abroad as they don't have a Service Center in Poland...) and what happened? Those knuckleheads sent it back to me with nothing replaced saying that it's a software problem. Are they serious?!

How is this even possible? I did reinstall Windows 3 times so far and tried different drivers. WTF?!
*
hurm..sounds like hardware problem.have u tried updating your BIOS?
mine is version 1.10 as i already changed my motherboard.
my old motherboard uses v1.03 and also never encountered BSOD when playing games.

I did however enter my S/N and SNID on the webpage to check if my chipset is faulty and it said that everything is OK. I never encountered BSOD during copying files or reading a DVD, which happens to faulty chipsets. Only during gaming.

The funny thing is, that in the first week or so everything worked super good. I finished Portal 2 with no errors but when I tried to play it again like 2 weeks later, the BSOD hit me in the face.

I'm sending the laptop back to those assholes tomorrow...  mad.gif
*
Thats mean your laptop is the 2nd batch.
I never encountered BSOD during gaming even when i havent changed my motherboard.
Even finished Black Ops with it.lol

Im into week 3 of using 2nd batch chipset now as i already replace my motherboard

2nd batch? I thought 2nd batch laptops are blue in color and have Bluetooth in it. Mine does not and is black. And has a 1GB graphics card in it.

Anyway, I wrote them an email, called them and gave them hell. They promised to do it with "high priority". Let's see how much their words are worth. I'm sending it back today.
*
Yes 2nd batch is blue in color. But as u mentioned that ur lappy is not in the affected batch when u enter your SN in Acer website lead me into thinking yours is the second batch.

I got mine back. Still the first batch, but no bluescreen at all.
Does anyone have pictures from the inside of the notebook?
I need to know where the CPU/GPU is.

oh btw:
Is it recommended to place a fan of the Coolermaster U3 directly under the louver of the internal notebook fan?
or should I place them more central? ._.

aaand:
My CPU hits 90 degrees. Even with a cooler  blush.gif
*
I place the fans directly under the notebook fan.one on the RAM and one just below the first one.
max ever hit is 81 when gaming with cooler.if set at max speed max is 75.but i sometimes get 70.
