I have an interesting question to those who bought their Macs with SSDs..

Any point in upgrading 4gb RAM to 8gb? tongue.gif
*
no point.4gb is good enough for mac unless u're use to many apps in 1 time

which software u guys suggest to run dual OS ? parallel ? bootcamp or others?

and if want to run dual OS , take i5 + 8GB ram or i7 4GB ram , which one is betterĀ  to run dual OS?
*
well parallel vs bootcamp depends on what u need. max performance is bootcamp, convenience is parallel. you CAN bootcamp 1st then use parallel to access the bootcamp system thru OSX, but in my experience (well, for fusion3 anyway) sometimes it messes up my bootcamp drivers. havent try parallel 6 yet

personally i'd go for i7 4gb RAM. 8gb is quite overkill unless u *know* u really need it. btw RAM can upgrade anytime later on smile.gif CPU cannot upgrade hehe

@ stereokumonomu nope, MacBook Air is a finished product. you can order it with 4GB, but you must do that before, not after you buy.

Guys, a quick question about RAMs. If let's say at one point I was using 90% of available ram, how am I suppose to reduce the usage besides turning my MBP off? I practically closed all running applications except the finder but still ram usage is high. Leaving the MBP sleeping for several hours also did not do the trick.

Well, I'm the type that only shut down my computer once a week. I like to just let it sleep when not using because it'll be faster for me to use immediately instead of having to go through the boot screen.

RAM usage like that is normal in Macs. Long story short - the reason you close off apps and the RAM usage is still high is that the ram sorta behaves like a 'cache'...

When new applications require it, these 'cache' will be flush out, so you don't worry about it.

edit : I'm pretty sure I posted a link about this somewhere before..

yeap2, the RAM wont flush out immediately. but if another app requires more memory, then it'll get it

well as long as u dont feel any lag then should be ok lah, no need to worry smile.gif
