You can use migration asisistant from a running OS to migrate a user over.

If need so, you can even email the photos to them. Sometime I find it easier with visual rather trying to visualize in words.

@Jing-leBelle. The screen off feature will activate for both internal and external. If your external does not support sleeping, it will most likely affect the internal. You can manually activate the sleep by pressing: Control + Shift + ⏏
