small philips screw driver (bottom cover) and T6 driver for hdd. Though upgrade done by Compuzone.

can refer yr apple manual & easily get from hardware stores.
*
yea i searched almost 20 hardware stores in JB already but none have the #00 size screwdriver.
i bought OWC memory online, tats y need to change ownself.
now headache, bought memory but cannot upgrade, i think only option is to send to apple resellers or repair centers but i guess they're gonna charge anyway although its for minor thingy only. sad.gif

cannot work meh? u sure? pls explain. want to order the screw fr seller alredi
*
the right size screwdriver for the btm screws as shown in many tutorials and also OWC videos is size #00.
i didnt know at 1st and bought the normal rm3-4 screwdriver set from normal hardware shop only because the smallest size inside the set is already very small.
but turns out the smallest size is only size #0, i tried to use to open but really cannot. otherwise if u force to open the screws will surely go loose.

LOl till now i havent found the right one yet, so maybe if ur gonna buy upgrading products from pc stores, better ask them do for u. smile.gif

*

but i got compare the size with the btm screw of the mbp is cannot lar.
but u can ask the seller 1st before buying to be on the safe side. smile.gif

i wanna ask about inactive memory.
Sometime the inactive memory shoot up to 2gb of ram...
leaving 100mb ram free.  THe whole macbook pro start to lag/slowdown.
Is this normal?
*
ya this happens to mine too..even with mine 8gb memory the mbp will lag too..
any1 who knows how to lower the inactive memory? =D

Tried tuxera yet?

what do you mean 'lower' inactive memory ? you mean free up? it doesn't quite work that way.

Inactive memory is memory that has recently been used by an application that is no longer running. OSX keeps track of what this is and what it belonged to because of the idea of temporal locality, the idea being that if you opened an application you are somewhat likely to do so again and if the memory is still labeled, the application can start very quickly. In the absence of sufficient free memory, inactive memory will be reclaimed by another running application that needs memory.

What kind of files and file sizes are you working on in PS5 that makes it laggy?
That's kinda top of the line MBP lol.. if still lag I don't know what else you can do.. doubt SSD will help that much aside from speeding up your load times or unless you run like a gajillion apps at once

Added on April 11, 2011, 1:37 pm

yeah lol, my filesize is around 30mb-100mb, running PS5 + a few safari browsing only, non other things.
will it be affected by change of memory? cos i just changed from 4gb to 8gb recently.

wad u said earlier is true, regret didnt changed to stock SSD cos initially thought 128gb not enuf, but with 1tb ex HDD support it turns out to b enuf.

bro the reason i dowan bootcamp to use windows is bcos many of my frens who did always gets viral threats.
so wanna keep it clean with OSX. =D

For the past 2 days straight, im experiencing abnormal fan speed and temperature change with my 2011 17" mbp.
with temperature from 48 degrees jump straight up to 80 degrees and fan from 1999rpm to almost 5000rpm, and the fans become really really loud,
but after like 1 minute it stops and the temperature and rpm drops back to usual rate.

may i know if this is normal or not or if any other bros having same issue??

i have the same problem as u

temp jump to 80+ and fan 6000 rpm

usually happens when i am watching HD movies or loading Flash intensive sites

dunno if that is the cause...

btw mine is a MBP 13" 2011
*
yah but mine only opening safari with about 3 tabs and PS for ACR with 200+ images only.
the CPU temp goes up to 90 degrees, then drops back after few mins.

have u called apple center to let them know bout the issue already?

Probably there are some heavy background task like flash is running, next time it happens again, check your activity monitor, see what's taking up the CPU
*
i've got flash player for safari plug-in running though, but previously i have lots of safari tabs going on + PS + LR also nvr have such problems occur.
when it happened, CPU usage was 50+% and memory was 50+% also, and inactive memory was like 3gb+, so memory usage wasnt inadequate right?

at tat moment i was charging my mbp, it was not charging for a second, and then charging again back and forth.
when i opened screen recording to record down so that can send over to apple center, everything went back normal, sigh!

I don't think there is any problem with your mbp, i open just youtube and CPU went up to 60% then temp rising, fan rising.

Added on May 8, 2011, 4:29 pmabout that not charging thing, maybe you should ask them

thanks for the info, will do some more tests 1st to see if problem persists before i inform apple center as this is my 2nd unit.

try disable/remove that safari plug-in and observer the temp? best if you can use other browser, see if it happen again.
i'll never trust safari anyway. using firefox from the day i fire up my machine..

something must trigger the cpu to work hard..
*
u mean firefox wont need flash plug-in to view flash websites?
what bout google chrome?

Added on June 1, 2011, 10:31 amMy mbp 17" gets really dim ( like lowest screen brightness )when i unplug my power source, using battery power only.
After like 30 secs it gets brighter back on to normal.

Do u guys experience this too?????

But i tot it gets slightly dim only ( ticked in the energy saver preference ) when not connected to power supply?
