@cryogenist
Not sure what you are running till CPU can go up to 80c..... @____@
For mine, usually GPU is the one which is running high.
I'm not using cooling pad and I'm not in an air-con room.
These few days weather a bit hot

In MMORPG with highest graphics settings (GPU temp):
- Did shoot up to 90c for once
- Around 70 to 85 during hot weather.
- Around 68 to 79 during cold weather.
During idle (GPU temp):
- Around 58 to 63 during hot weather.
- Around 48 to 58 during cold weather.

My CPU temp hardly goes above 70c even during hot weather.

@rickysim84
If possible, try to check out powernotebook and LPC-Digital too instead of only considering XoticPC as XoticPC might offer higher shipping cost than the other 2. I guess don't bother with Logical Blue since AUD is so strong now.
Bank normally recognizes wire transfer as telegraphic transfer, in short 'TT'. They have outward and inward telegraphic transfer, so you are going to do an outward TT. Best is go to the bank to deal with it so that you can make sure they are doing everything correctly. I don't recommend you to do TT via online banking (remmitance) since you are transferring a big amount (at least I feel that it is a big amount). If I'm not wrong, bank charges RM30 for the handling fee & commission fee and another USD 9 (agent bank fee).

Will do so smile.gif

Next week? So soon? You paid already? After making payment, we need at least 2 weeks to get it

Isn't that Sager NP7280? I thought rickysim84 got information from Sager that they are having some stock issues since rickysim84 had been waiting for his NP7280 for 2 months...

haha, then it might be sgcubehub's problem who delays rickysim84. If you notice those posts earlier in this thread, he was actually ordering the same model of laptop from sgcubehub 2 months ago and the answer he got from sgcubehub is that Sager has some stock issue.

Ouch...

All I did was paying the exact amount USD 2246.52.
I was paying from a Singapore bank (DBS bank), the bank charged me:
SGD 10 (Commission) + SGD 20 (Cable charges) + USD 9 (Agent bank charges)

Of course I had the laptop sent to Malaysia as I wanna avoid the 7% goods and service tax (GST) imposed by Singapore Custom.

Handling Commission + Cable charges = SGD 20 + SGD 10 (both charged by DBS)

Agent Bank Fee = USD 9 (charged by the bank which I believe is a bank in Singapore for doing the transaction to send the money to U.S.)

Apart from that, before making payment, DBS staff did tell me they only charge me SGD 20 + SGD 10 + USD 9 and there could be some charges from the bank in U.S. which they are not sure of the amount. That's what the staff told me and I answered I will pay via credit card for that.

However, at the end, there was no charges from U.S. side...

Added on May 12, 2011, 12:32 pmMine also 3 banks involved.

Applicant bank: DBS
Intermediary bank: Wells Fargo Bank- San Francisco, California
Beneficiary bank: Union Bank & Trust- Lincoln, Nebraska

I tried to settle it online at DBS website but they didn't have the fields/columns to fill in Intermediary bank info, so I went to the bank personally to get it settled.

XoticPC is not replying to my email regarding the missing USD21, whether is was charged by the intermediate bank or beneficiary bank, anyway, to make things proceed, I made the payment of USD21 via my credit card.

Still not very happy with XoticPC on this issue, USD21 = MYR61 only, not a big deal compared to what we have paid, but still couldn't they just reply me where did that money gone too?

Not only that, for Jimmy's case, there were no extra charge for the intermediate bank or beneficiary bank at all, and why am I charge?

Try to use live chat/live support on their website (during U.S day time of course) this coming monday, and ask their sales person directly about it.

I wonder how's the interior design of NP5165 and NP5175.
Do they come with 2 fans (GPU and CPU each taking one) or only 1 fan (both GPU and CPU sharing one)?

The drivers and utilities disk (CD/DVD) comes together with the laptop.
In Windows 7, when copying file from your harddisk to external harddisk (or vice versa) You will notice the data transfer rate is higher. Data transfer rate is shown in windows 7 but not in xp.

its around 65 to 85 mb per sec...usb 3.0 can reach 100++ rite?

Can't remember, not in front of my laptop now. But, if you plug into the USB 2.0 slot, you can see the data transfer rate is lower, means the USB 3.0 slots are working fine :]

No worries, waiting is always the exciting moment. Once you got it, you will surely appreciate the performance of Sager comparable to an Alienware but comes with an affordable price. That's how I appreciate my NP8170-S1 now, as powerful as Alienware M17X but saves me RM2k or even more.

Zzzz. My CPU just have a sudden high temperatures spike to 90+ 'C on all cores for no apparent reason. The load is like 0-10%. WEIRD!!!

Btw, who bought new laptop bag for their laptop? I want to know what brand/model you all have.
*
You seem to have a lot of problems with the temperature, I thought you had lower down your GPU voltage or something and now CPU?

Just a reference to my NP8170-S1, I just started Dragon Age: Origins, GPU temp close to 70. If I play long enough, the most it reaches 80 something like what you saw in the max GPU temp.
CPU temp..., not very high too. I'm not in air-con room and not using cooling pad, just put something below the butt of my laptop and tilt it a bit higher to make room for air to go in from bottom.

Oh about the bag, thinking of getting a backpack too. At the moment, only CaseLogic, Targus and Dicota I have in mind :\

But, priority would be getting a keyboard skin. Not easy to find a chiclet keyboard skin, especially for Sager :[

Yea, noticed it earlier on too, so you are going to ship your laptop to Malaysia eh? Even if you buy from Mucro/Sgcubehub and have them deliver to your doorstep in SG, there will still be GST 7%.
It's a lot for GST 7% lol

The interior design of the laptop is very important because that also determines whether you are comfortable while using it. My old Dell Inspiron 1420 has a defective GPU which heats up my laptop real fast and the palm rest is often very hot until my left hand sweats most of the time during gaming.

Oh, just in case if anyone wants to have a look at the interior of Sager NP5165, you can check it out in Sager NP5160 as NP5165 is the successor of NP5160. Below is a video from youtube, you can take a look at the interior starting at 3:33.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eyHkqyK1Y0

To be honest, I personally prefer NP8130 over NP5165 since you guys said that the optimus technology can be enabled by tweaking the settings. I prefer the interior design of NP8130 which comes with 2 fans rather than 1 fan in NP5165.

I believe thicker laptop is better than thinner one as running graphically intensive programs might heat up the GPU faster, you don't want your hands to feel the heat at the palm rest or the keyboard

Added on May 18, 2011, 11:17 amOh yea, for those new comers who are interested in Sager comparing to Dell XPS and other laptop brands. Sager's laptop parts are easily accessible and even the fan too, so you have no problem cleaning up the fan in it after using for some time, sure there will be dust covering the fan. The video above is a good example of it.

GTX560m is going to replace GTX460m but seems like the difference is not a lot according to:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphi...List.844.0.html

Only power optimizer (optimus) is introduced... hmm....
