@soundsyst64

So, yours was the same case too when they changed your order status to "shipped". You still hadn't received the tracking number, not until it was actually shipped?

When Pos Laju sent the package to you while you were not available, they put a notice for you at your doorstep?

That's cool. Might need to call up Xotic tonight for the parcel number lol

And one more question, did Pos Laju charge you anything upon receiving your laptop?

LOL, you keep on changing your avatar, can't even recognize you later tongue.gif

@Everyone
BTW, what power plug is Sager using? Is it type G or the one shown in the link below?
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/820915/+315

And as I know voltage in U.S is 110V, Malaysia is 220V. So, do we get a converter or something?

@kahjye

Not sure, I still haven't received my USPS tracking number. I did some searching on the internet but I found different answers whether USPS does have tracking number or not. Some said using USPS no tracking number, some said yes. Corad ordered from xoticpc years ago and he had the tracking number, soundsyst64 ordered from RJtech also had the tracking number. Both of them chose USPS Express Mail. My status was changed to Order Shipped this morning 3:57am, so tonight about 11pm, I will use skype to call xotic pc in U.S. and see. Although I wrote them an email a moment ago, but I guess I want the answer tonight, not an email during my sleep. I think calling might clear my doubts faster if I have any further questions, so I better give them a call.

Okay, so from what I read on the Internet, the AC Adapter provided by Sager is a 110v/220v autoswitch AC Adapter. Means it has an transformer internally and will auto switch to 220v when I'm using it in Malaysia.

Am I right about that?

Alright, I believe I had cleared my doubt. All laptop/camera nowadays come with an AC Adapter (so-called power brick by some of you) that accepts input voltage of 100v~240v, means that even if U.S. voltage is running on 110v whilel Malaysia (same as European countries) is running on 220v, the laptop will work fine in both countries because of the autoswitch ability of the AD Adapter.

@Pewufod

Haha, yeah, even the power cable that we use for rice cooker or electric kettle can be used too as long as the connector of the power cable fits into the laptop's AC Adapter.

@soundsyst64

Thanks for the answer. Haha, yeah, don't wanna risk anything on my new toy. Definitely wanna clear my doubts first XD

I believe all the resellers deal directly with Sager or else they shouldn't be able to get a dealer price and sell to end consumer at a higher price for profit. Just like what Xotic PC, LPC Digital, RJ tech, powernotebook, Mucro and CubeHub do...

@kahjye

Where are you from? If you are from any part of West Malaysia, yeah, there is no Good Friday holiday in anywhere of West Malaysia.
Only Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore (Triple S...lol) declare Good Friday as Public Holiday.
So actually, if your package can leave Singapore before Friday and arrives Malaysia on and before Friday, you might still get it on Saturday because I believe courier service is still on on saturdays.

Since yesterday earning morning (GMT+8), Xotic PC already changed my status to order shipped. Last night I chatted with their live support and they said once my order has been shipped by USPS, I will definitely get a tracking number.

So, my guessing is that just right after my laptop is ready to be shipped, they already changed my status to order shipped but it might not mean my order is already outside of U.S. Xotic PC is in Nebraska and I believe there is no direct export from Nebraska to Malaysia. They could be assembling all the goods at one point (airport), then only they will export my parcel outside of U.S. Only then I will receive a tracking number. Well, I guess that's how it goes lol.

So, no worries about it, kahjye, it is just some logistics route that we might not have taken into consideration.

I hope that I can get a tracking number before Good Friday and hopefully my parcel will leave U.S. before Friday.

@kahjye
No worries, I'm pretty confident that you will get yours first before I get mine lol

Anyone use 'Fn+1" to blow the dust out of the vents? Is that an effective way to clean laptop? unsure.gif
*
lol I didn't know it has such a feature.
One of the main reason that I choose Sager is because it is so easy to access to the fans from the bottom. Just unscrew a few screws, take away the bottom panel then can unscrew the fans to take them out to clean.

Unlike Asus G series, Dell Inspiron and Dell XPS series, so hard to get to the fans, need to disassemble the whole thing which is a nightmare...

Just to share how the locals feel bout mucro and sgcubehub.

HWZ
*
lol. So, should I feel lucky that I did not to purchase from cubehub?
Actually, I did place an order with cubehub for NP8170-S1. However, cubehub closes on saturdays and sundays and I need to work from Monday to Friday, so there is no chance for me to make the payment. So, I went on with XoticPC and did a wire transfer at DBS on saturday morning (11 Apr 2011) and now my laptop had already left U.S. for almost 36 hours and expecting to receive it by next week.
Of course, I need to have my laptop delivered to Malaysia to rid that GST 7% (import to Singapore).
Till now, I'm very satisfied with the swift process of Xotic PC.

Kinda pity the TS in HWZ who placed an order for NP8170 from cubehub.
Or maybe like what some people said, U.S resellers are prioritized to receive the revised Sandy Bridge chipset.

I understand most Singaporeans order their laptops from Mucro or CubeHub due to it being cheaper.
If import from U.S., there will be shipping cost and GST 7% which will eventually end up being more expensive than purchasing from the local resellers.
It is only through importing it into Malaysia (let's say JB), then perhaps you can escape from that 7% GST and comes with a cheaper price.
Of course with USD dropping gradually, it will become cheaper to purchase from U.S. resellers.

Keep us updated, man. I'll take your route too since I'll be in Singapore next month.  smile.gif

Sure, dude. I'm gonna create a whole review of my laptop including my purchasing experience.
But, I think you might wanna take a look at other resellers like LPC-Digital, RJTech, Powernotebook, Malibal etc.
Xotic PC charged me USD 223 for the shipping cost (a flat rate I suppose) and if you would ask my laptop weight, I'm not sure but mine is the NP8170-S1 (17 inch), not too sure any price difference if it is 15 inch, but perhaps it's also USD 223.

I heard some of them got cheaper shipping cost from LPC digital and Malibal.
Of course purchasing from Xotic PC, I chose to ship by USPS Express Mail which I also get a tracking number to track my parcel.
Just be sure when you ask LPC digital or Malibal later whether their shipping option provides tracking number.
Xotic PC might be charging higher shipping cost (I'm not quite sure), but they have a very nice website well arranged and make it easier view the different type of laptops they are selling. Of course terms and conditions, warranty information, order phases, shipping information are stated pretty clearly as well.

Yeah .. just as I thought.

Probably the nearest would be Europe then ...
*
You can get it from U.S., there are more resellers in the U.S.
Sager is based in U.S. and the parts are assembled over there. Furthermore, it doesn't make any huge difference to ship from Europe or U.S. to UAE because I don't think they really use a ship to ship these days, mostly using air cargo or commercial flights smile.gif

The only thing you might need to check is whether UAE custom imposes import duty/tax for importing laptop/notebook PC into UAE.
