in general gua... duno..last time discuss with friend he said in general Prime Lens dont have built in AF motor since the lens is short..and if use beginner body then had to manual foucs. correct me if i m worng...my question is about Auto Focus only.
no. it's actually depends on the model. newer lenses (including prime lenses usually come with AF-S) therefore it will be able to do auto focus with entry level body. however lens those days old old lenses. like 50mm 1.8 which doesn't come with AF-S won't be able to auto focus with entry level body as it doesn't have AF motor.
The AF focus speed really does not matter for me , i wan accurate can d, as long as dont slow like turtle can d , and somemore im not using pro body , because usually the focus speed is affected by the bodies most right? But i would rather get nikkor used 1755 since siggy new and used nikkor 1755mm dont have much diff in price
Added on February 19, 2011, 1:17 amOh ya aldo , the panning skill i share to you , is it too small ? You wan me make in larger size?
I am quite okay for panning I guess.. just need some moment. pretty busy these days can't go out with camera. You are the lord you own the money,
Ya, among the cheapest I've asked so far, especially Cosmos. Good luck
Added on February 19, 2011, 4:30 pmCan I play with it when I go to Miri?
Cosmos they sold me 2nd handed handphone with 1st hand price. they even tell me it's a brand new phone. How I know it's a second handed? There is a picture of some1 apartment in my Phone memory. I was like. FTW

Frankly, they both sux. Just go straight and buy the D3s.
There aren't many differences, maybe the d90 has a top LCD panel for you to see and change the settings which can lengthen your battery power. If you're a gal and fancy video then 550d, it's smaller and has better video capabilities. Other than that d90 trumps 550d, bigger and brighter viewfinder, bigger and nicer to grip, feels stronger, more fps and it looks better(personal preference).
But honestly, you can go no wrong with either, it is up to you to decide which is more value for money to you.

it's more about his lens then his camera. Lens makes the difference.
D90 sux? You sux by can't use it well
Just did my 1st pre wed photo shoot. damn tiring la weii.. never know it is that tiring. but I am happy.

You another one with no brain to properly read what people mean? It's a joke You sux more for not able to understand a simple sarcasm joke
we are here to gain knowledge in photography dude. not to hear your sarcasm joke, and poisoning other with gears especially those who don't have any knowledge in photography. when you firstly ask an advice from your friend regarding what camera should you buy. and they tell your about D3x. what do you think?
earn money by selling corpse? I do understand that is a joke. but that poisoning joke is not suitable for answering a newbie question bro.
just my 2 cents. ignore it if you do mind.

which part of my advice to him/her was poisoning? If you called a sentence of few words of joke or rather a matter of fact(D3s indeed better than 550d and d90) is poisoning then might as well not say anything.
And I do not know which of your eyes saw I that I advice him/her to go consider the D3x or D3s, I told him/her that either(550d & d90) can be a good camera and choice is up for him/her while I told her what the difference IMO.
If you really understand that is a joke and you think you have better constructive suggestion to share then go ahead and share. Stop behaving like you wanna lecture somebody. Who you think you are and is it wrong to joke? What's more the person I replied to perfectly understand it's a joke from me and totally ignore it. Can't you do the same?
me lecturing? nah.. is it me lecturing or you? anyway your suggestion is nice. Ignore it!

hmmm so is it just the focus point??other than mega pixel...
More focus point of course faster focusing. better built-in quality = half magnesium body. bigger mega pixel compared to D90. awesome ISO performance. dual memory card. magnesium battery grip what else? IDK it's just awesome.

Hi, all pro here. I am newbie here. I need opinion , comment advice from you all. I planning to buy Nikon D3100, is it ok for newbie ? I am still compare within Canon 1000D and Nikon D3100. I mam still a student , due to budget is tight so only this two model is the cheapest i can get, so i hope to listen and get all the opinion and comment from you all so that i wont make any mistake from choosing a better camera. Thx a lot in advance.
D3100 is the latest entry level model from Nikon. it's not comparable to 1000D canon. D3100 will beat it at any side except the AF motor. if you want to compare it, compare it to the upcoming 1100D from canon or 550D canon. However I do find D3100 is serve newbie just right. Worth spending.

Ok, but even i compare i duno which wan is better coz i have ntg much knowledge about the camera ?
AF will affect a lot of things ???
w/o AF you have to do focusing manually. image you twisting your lens until you have the proper focus of your subject. very hard to explain since you don't have the lens yet. but as for me manual focus is very hard especially for moving object.
I am buying a Nikon D3100. Just wanna ask, the kit lens ( AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR) can capture object (is about the size of a school bag) as far as 5 meters away detailed and clearly ?? Or should i get only the body and buy a better lens instead ?? Thanks for any advice given.
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR is a very good lens if you can use it properly I will throw my very good review for that lens. however for capturing an object with the size of a school bag in 5 meter away. I am not sure.
Abit hard... Cause need to shoot some birds and reptiles when i go to kampung to do some research. when you go near them, they will run a away !! So, need some advice on the lens.
you can't use that lens for bird. but for bird(s) maybe you can. I tried it. I simply can't they always flew away.

I think should be ok. Cause last time i'm using Sony TX9 they don't flew away. Just that the P n S camera not so detailed. Any lens can recommend ?? The one use in D90 ok ??
PnS digital zoom is longer than 55mm optical zoom yow.. 18-105? IQ-wise is worse than 18-55. range is better
