No difference unless they start offering some package above 50mbps.

Even ADSL2+ can offer the same 20mbps which Unifi is offering with some sacrifices of slower upload.
*
However you have to keep in mind that there will be a difference in the ping.

QUOTE(iipohbee @ Mar 13 2011, 06:07 PM)
Ping rate doesn't make a big difference other than the 1st hop to the gateway which might be single digit for FTTH.

With give and take, VDSL2 deployments are much faster and more economical.

People can't be waiting for years to have FTTH installed. DSL could match fiber ping rates if the telco knows what they're doing.

Your sig with TPG results compared with Unifi already prove so. Does it makes much difference if you can get 15ms with Unifi and 25ms with TPG ADSL2+/VDSL2 with nearby oveasea servers such as those in Singapore/ Taiwan or Japan?
*
Dude relax, I just said that there will be a difference. I didn't say that it'll be a noticeable huge difference. He was asking bout the difference, so I merely brought up the issue bout ping and I didn't even say 'hey, don't get it cause VDSL sucks'. Heck you're even right about my sig, I enjoyed using TPG's ADSL2+ back in Melbourne more than the FTTH here! It's way cheaper than Unifi.

QUOTE(hackwire @ Mar 14 2011, 03:31 PM)
Thanks a lot and truly understand their terms now... I have no other choices also since i have gone through all the details in this thread and i have figured out to connect my RG from my backroom due to extra cost and hacking work . After getting helps from most of you here, i thought i could solve the Wifi Coverage Area downstairs with Homeplug by TP-link . Initially, i was quite happy with this solution proposed by some of you than when i get deeper into the detail about this tech, this device have two requirements.

1) plug point must be require to be terminated at the same fuse if 3 phase (mine is 3 phase)
2) The device must be connected direct to the wall and must be dedicated by itself or it will not achieve optimum .
(i only have one plug point for the RG and don't have extra point for Homeplug)

Sigh! Anyone had this problem as mine and have it solve for optimum coverage?
*
There is a solution but it's not going to be cheap. Go do some research on repeaters. They're like the middleman to boost signals in between places. Good luck.

At least Malaysia is mentioned.Hope we can do the same by stopping caps if possible.
*
Haih... and how are we going to do that? All the gov cares about is giving money to space tourists and constructing ridiculous towers.

Hi, i have a question here....my area is within the unifi coverage somewhere within pjs, but all the phone socket / built-in copper wire in my 5 stories building are not working due to incompleted construction..so can i apply for unifi and ask them to install like landed home based ? like pulling the fibre optic cable from the FDP box ( my home on 5th floor and i willing to pay base on the lenght of the cable )
*
For such complicated situation you should just call tmnet to get a clear answer.

Hi guys..
I have just registered for Unifi..
I wonder if my TP-Link Repeater will work with the router provided by TMNet?

Also if anyone knows when will they likely impose the download cap?
Thanks..

Haha you'll be the first to find out! =D

Close to my area, mine is ss 26...I manage to get 5mbps dl after 1 wk of installation...after tat, drop to 1mbps....now also de same,1.2 Mbps dl at night time...

Currently on vip5, totally no idea....
*
I'm staying at 26/3 and for some crappy reason my internet is also at around 1.2mbps! I'm on VIP5. Is there like a board for consumers that we can complain to? I feel like we're being cheated of our money. Getting only 25% of advertised speed is shit.

Finally my speed moved from 1.2mbps back to 5mbps. If you plot a graph you'll see a linear increase from 9pm to 3am. NOT COOL TMNET. Night time is when people use the net. grrrr.....

VIP5 at SS26/3 Taman Mayang Jaya.

Ping is still higher than usual and speed is still not as stable. i'll usually get an upload for more than 5mbps and download of around 4.95 or so. Still... much better than previously.

Woah I just got a call from TMnuts today and guess what they told me bout the slow speeds at night?
Roughly translated from BM to English--

CS: Sorry sir, there seem to be some sort of congestion at your area. We're in the process or fixing it and doing migration.
Me: Okay so how long is this going to take?
CS: There's no timeframe for now sir.
Me: What??!? The Internet is now lagging during the hours when I want to use the most and you tell me there's no timeframe? If I have to wait for too long I'll seriously report to MCMC.
CS: Okay sir, I'll include this in the remarks.

Seriously guys, I urge all of you who's currently suffering from the slow internet speed at night to complain to Tmnet and threaten to report to MCMC, newspaper or whatever. These companies won't hurry their @$$es if there's no pressure!!!! vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

After more then a week my IPTV turned off decided to watch today. To my shock I'm getting all the channels. Even premium channels like BBC lifestyle, BBC knowledge, Bloomberg, Warner tv,  universal channel etc.

Why? Free for promo or just a system fault?

fiber wire hanging at puhcong kinrara area.
based on the coveraged area experience, once they hanging like this, normally take how long to put the unifi white box?
*
As usual, the typical answer you'll get if it's a Malaysian company: Indefinite.

not yet...seriously, i got no time at de moment....calling CS is really wasting my time....they unable to help me...every time i log in complain, and the saying will send some technician to come over...i got where got free take leave and sit at home wait for them? where else, day time speed is fast...onli night time is low....then they will give sort of excuses..

really no idea on it...
*
If you've got no time to make official complaints or reports, then i reli dunno what to say la. Seriously, the only reason TM is taking advantage of us is because Malaysians are often too lazy to take appropriate actions. In this case, we deserve what we're paying for. What I propose is you start making the complaints through CS first. It's 24 hours so you can call any time of the day. And if it's hour dependent for the speed drop, there's no need for their technician to come because it's OBVIOUSLY something wrong on their side! After you have proof that you've already made the necessary reports to TM CS then you can escalate it to whatever MCMC or newspaper articles. At the moment if you're NOT DOING ANYTHING at all. TM can just claim 'oh we didn't know!'.

PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PEOPLE! TAKE ACTION!
