Hello guys, Mind if I ask a few questions?

I've successfully installed Nitdroid onto my MicroSD card on my N900 by following the frontpage instructions, it works! thumbup.gif

but the problem is that I cant complete step 11 which is : Type “dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/.nitdroid/multiboot-kernel-power_0.3_armel.deb”
and now when I restart my N900, and shows the boot menu, it shows only : "Maemo 5 omap" & "Nitdroid" but no "Maemo 5 linux v4X"
how do I solve this? icon_question.gif

another problem is that Nitdroid cant seem to pick up and connect to WiFi networks?

Can you guys help me? Thanks in advance! notworthy.gif

Can any sifu offer me help please?

I have Nitdroid working just fine on my N900,
but the thing is I cant and dont really know how to install APK files (some apps cant be installed from Android market)

1st I tried placing APK file at the normal folder N900 folder (accessible from stock Maemo file manager), boot Nitdroid and open it with Astro file manager and install, but that doesnt work.

Then Super Evil Alien advise me to unmount the microSD & launch the .apk file from NITDroid's root location
But when I unmount the MicroSD from setting menu, I cant find the folder anymore.

I thought about copy and paste the apk file to the root folder before unmounting, but.. I cant seem to do so? Maybe because I dont have root access or something?

Can anyone please offer me advice?.. icon_question.gif
Thanks in advance..

Thanks! smile.gif

The reason I use Astro file manager is coz it's free and that I can actually download it straight off Android Market, the Root Explorer you told me is a paid app in Android market?
As you said, Astro file manager dont have root access, thus I cant move the apk files to those root folders and all... so.. this means I need to find another file manager with root access to move those apk files? hmm.gif

Dont know?

The things is, I tried installing Aldiko & AngryBird .apk files, but both failed to install,
Then I tried installing Root Explorer .apk files, guess what? It works!

Apparently some .apk files just works and some don't?

Super Evil Alien, even with Root Explorer, I still cant copy or move .apk files to the root folder!
Weird... or is something wrong with the version of Nitdroid on my N900? rclxub.gif

One way I heard of to fix this is to pull out the battery, wait for few seconds then put it back in and you should have the LED lights back on.

Help.. Got problem with my Nitdroid again.. T__T
I uninstalled my old Nitdroid and installed the new N12 by following the below instructions :
http://wiki.maemo.org/Nitdroid_easy_instal...lean_install.29
under the heading : Installing NITDroid N12 to EMMC (clean install)

everything works find.. except for the multiboot part....
It doesnt show my Kernel Power again!
I tried the Frontpage way of apt-get kernel-power kernel-power-flasher and modules, in XTerm, but it says it's already the latest up to date version?

Anyway to solve this?

Another thing : My N12 Nitdroid has no Market app. what gives? blink.gif

Super_Evil_Alien,

It doesnt work... sad.gif
Multiboot menu still showing stock maemo and nitdroid only, no kernel power..

Added on June 3, 2011, 9:56 amI've notice one thing,
When I reinstalled Kernel-Power-Bootimg, it automatically removes multiboot-kernel-power..
and When i reinstall multiboot-kernel-power, it automatically removes kernel-power-bootimg.

Is this normal? o_o?

Added on June 3, 2011, 10:16 amI even tried this :

root
apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power-bootimg multiboot-kernel-power

Ends up telling me that both this packages are in conflict and fails to install.

Added on June 3, 2011, 10:19 amsearch some other forums, read something about creating kernel-power items to /etc/multiboot.d ? Maybe this will help?

I checked my N900's /etc/multiboot.d and indeed there is only stock maemo item and nitdroid item only and no kernel-power item.

but dont really know the details yet so not dare to try it out for now..

Guys.. Help please..

I was trying to figure out Nitdroid & multiboot issue and decided to uninstall Nitdroid to get back my Kernel-Power,
I uninstalled it, but when my N900 boots, it goes back to stock Maemo only.
I reinstalled kernel-power, kernel-power-flasher, kernel-power-modules, kernel-power-bootimg.
the next thing I get when i reboot is multiboot menu with NO options..

then it fades away and shows this :

can't flash kernel, required files not found
guru meditation #00000025.62017712
HIT ANY KEY TO PANIC

and reboots non-stop. I know there's a solution on the frontpage, but to be honest, I have no idea what is it talking about or how to apply that method...
I searched around the forum, tried the press U and plug USB cable into PC method, but got nothing?

Now when I boot my N900, it shows a Multiboot menu with no options, and after a few secs, auto shutdown...

Guessed I messed up big this time huh?
worst case scenario... is my N900 bricked forever or something?... O_O

Added on June 7, 2011, 3:36 amFound the Maemo Flasher tool, but dont really know wat to do with it... Reflash the device?

Guys, I need help with the Maemo Flasher-3.5.
I'm trying to flash my N900.
My N900 successfully connects to the PC (got nokia logo with USB logo at the corner)

when I key in this command in the command prompt
flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_2.2009.51-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
It shows:
flasher v2.5.2 <Sep 24 2009>
RX-51_2009SE_2.2009.51-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin: %m

and.. nothing happens.

I tried another command :
flasher-3.5 --read-device-id
It shows:
Suitable USB device not found, waiting.

I am guessing maybe the problem is with windows not recognizing N900 or something?

Help please..

yup. using old 32 bit Window XP.

Added on June 8, 2011, 1:28 amGuys! I successfully re-flashed my N900!!! biggrin.gif

Turns out the culprit was that
1: I miss-typed a single letter in the command (typed o instead of 0)
2: My PC doesnt have the Nokia USB flashing driver, and connectivity driver thingy installed, thus Windows did not recognized N900 as being connected.

Too me awhile to google for those files and to find instructions and clues at other forums. but in the end I did it!!!
I reflashed my N900!!!

Sorry for me being over-excited about this simple little thing, but this is a big thing for me to be able to revive my own phone. There's nothing like getting your hands dirty to fix your own gadgets. haha.. and it feels great to have my N900 back again! smile.gif

Now to restore the last backup files.. laugh.gif
