I think my N900 is permanently damaged.
I tried flashing it today.

I typed in the command prompt :
flasher-3.5.exe -F <file name> -f

is just shows <file name> : 0%

and nothing...
I think it's time I accept the truth my N900 has really died.. haiz..

Nope. I dont think I typed wrong.
1st, i renamed the file to R.bin, to avoid typo errors.
2nd, if it was typo error I think the results will say invalid file or cannot find file, etc..

So sadly.. it isnt the case... Thanks bro.

Well. I can try that I suppose. Nothing to lose at this point.
I was thinking maybe the hard disc was starting to fail from physical damage maybe?

I tried it.. still the same results..
I think the N900's harddisc is damaged hence this.
Sad..

guys...lately i cant use fmms...it refuse to download mms....any advice?tq....

having problem with phone... need help ASAP!!!

my n900 around 18 months old. dont bring trouble to me except yesterday night suddenly black out by itself when I woke up in the morning.

the battery went dead but I was charging it, so my first thought was the battery broken down. I got a back-up battery (also 18 months old but never used before, original) and replaced it, still having a lot of trouble to charge it.

I tried with both power cord charging and USB charging, the problem is the same, which have a symptoms like a very poor contact, sometime can connect sometime cant.

Thn i suspect system crash so I try to flash my n900 with the procedure but my 'cmd' screen just stop at [suitable USB device not found, waiting] i waited more than 10 minutes and tried dozen times still cant work. (i tried with both flasher-3.5 and flasher 3.12) (p.s: my laptop runs win 7 x86).

can someone suggest a proper diagnosis?

nope i do not have a back-up adapter (never thought that i needed one) but i do mentioned that i tried both charging by power cord and USB, and both symptoms are the same which is very unstable connectivity (through PC, the USB connected sound and disconnected sound just keep going like that).

p.s: i never dropped my phone above 1 feet. (there are few times it drops from my bed la)

i mention this because i still doubt about hardware problem that occurs in one single night can be so big different

i tried your way and it works, at least managed to get some power into it. (by definition, 'some' means not fully).

i also would like to try my 2nd theory, which is system crashing, but as i mentioned, flashing (with flasher-3.5) pause at 'suitable USB device not found, waiting'. how should i overcome that?

I havnt found an alternative charger yet, but i'm using the 2nd battery and USB cable to 'try' to charge it.

last night i charged for 4 hours until green light shown. however, this is very horrible: the green light remains even after i unplugged my USB cable. I was too tired to continue fixing it so went to bed, and when i woke up, the green light was still there! (like for 6 hours or something?) and later in the morning it went back to normal white light illumination.

i spent the entire morning trying to flash my device. i used 3 laptops which i borrowed from my roommates. (mine runs windows 7 x86; another runs win XP 32bit, another runs win 7 i forgot check the bit) and still the problem stuck at 'suitable device not found'.

i used almost all solutions i can google, including turning on device + U key while at 'suitable device not found, waiting' line.

yes i was thinking the same too. the Nokia with USB logo screen (i got both dim and bright screen through all the trials) suggested that the device's port might be still function able, but i also constantly checking 'device manager' through 'my computer' and i think the computer did not know where is the location of the phone (however, mass storage mode have no trouble with all 3 computers). In some cases, i got the 'USB cannot recognised' error message but automatic troubleshooting (through windows update) cannot work...

in addition, i cannot power up my device without the help from USB cable (connected via computer).

and... my battery last no longer thn half hour after disconnected from USB..................................
so my conclusion is back to:
1) hardware failure
2) flasher's problem (since i used the common flasher and common root on all 3 computers, but is very unlikely)

hye there .. wanna ask .. why my notifications light wont blinking? already turn off unplug the battery .. still wont blinking .. is it already dead? o.o

nothing .. just playing some games .. listening to music .. n then when i check the notifications light .. it wont blinking =.=
