Wow, our next match is against Manchester United in Stamford Bridge!
I think Carlo is going to use the same squad but I hope he will drop Malouda for Zhirkov. Zhirkov had some fast break up and can stretch Manchester United defense.I am sad to say that Malouda is kinda slow these days. Essien should be benched but it's against Manchester United,I can't find any experienced player to replace his place. I don't want Ramires to play in holding midfield because he's doing well in attack. Our full backs weren't do any impressing attacking threat, but a good defense line by us I would say.Impressive. Drogba was disappointing again A: Torres+Drogba B: Drogba+Anelka C Torres+Anelka While Drogba is not playing good now, I will go for C. Just hoping Anelka can be more consistent with his performance. On our team photo, I think Torres was unbalance and going to fall down? This post has been edited by ericling: Feb 23 2011, 06:14 PM |

agree on the suggestion to bench lampard and terry. lets face the reality guys.. both of them pass their best already and the ONLY thing that can kick-start their magic is sheer determination. but this thing is unreliable because sometime it happens and sometimes not.
it will be hard to forget both of them but the team need to be ready for next season because from my POV, we are done for this season. there is a lot of different in the creative mind of a younger player (josh) as compared to lampard. your mind get rusty as you grow older and at times, people who are used to play against us know how to react when lampard gets the ball. we manage to give torres the time for him to tune himself for the time, so why not give the same chance to josh? the main issue with terry is with his agility, as well as his turning radius. he is too slow to react nowdays and cost us dearly. strikers now are evolving.. they can sprint, THEY CAN CHANGE THEIR PACE, and they can turn at a tight angle. look at how hernandez play.. i got to admit he is a superb player at a young age. maybe people can say terry can control and mark him but to what extend? as of now, i can say luiz is a definite choice in every game. simply because he is the fastest out of the rest of our center backs. and his partner should be iva. not terry. we need player that can COMPLEMENT each other.. you want it or not, you must be ready to face the fact about terry and lampard.. it is just a matter of time.. they have passed their prime already |

hands up those who smell an anelka and sturridge combo next season?
the reason nico and torres combined nicely was because their movement off the ball was terrific. quick and decisive, they pulled copenhagen apart and the fact that both were pretty darn quick helped as well. a focused and 'straight forward' didier can do wonders for torres, as observed vs everton when he laid off the ball nicely for malouda, who should've finished the move. tell drogs to reduce the fancy stuff and they can click. having said that, i was dismayed to see both of them not really interested in combining with each other when the latter came on. it was a case of "watch, and i'll show u how its done," and both players were guilty of this. back to our no 9's performance, it was vastly improved and i would say he's extremely unlucky not to get a goal. he tried to take on defenders, attempt shots and most importantly, got a lot of them on target. it would be unfair to put it down mainly on torres not 'finding his feet,' as u must give credit to their keeper for having a brilliant game. left his line at the perfect moments, good reflexes, and solid all around. goals were no fault of his either! good performance from our midfield, but in the second half we gave the ball away cheaply too often. ramires and essien did their jobs, lampard had a better game but it pains me to mention he lost a bit of focus towards the final 20 mins. still managed an assist to nico, and had torres scored the one which was played in to him delicately in the 1st half, i'm sure my verdict would be a bit different. i'm just saying we must put in a good shift for 90 mins, after what happened at everton. it all came about with some misplaced passes that lead to silly fouls, and it goes without saying better teams will punish us, for sure. defence held up well, though copenhagen didn't offer much threat going forward. cheap yellow by terry towards the end, as he could've easily booted the ball out for a throw in. minor gripes include bosingwa's reluctance to take on their fullbacks (kept running at speed towards the halfway line only to slow down to walking pace and pass it backwards/sideways...confidence crisis? sure was frustrating to watch as there were times when he had miles of pitch to run into, in front of him) and malouda's lack of impact. i honestly do not remember him doing much apart from one good low cross into torres in the first half. probably the one most 'deserved' to be subbed during this match. MOTM is anelka, who proves he still loves being upfront instead of playmaking from deep! don't lie to us nico...your goals have spoken for u! united next!
