QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Feb 12 2011, 01:11 AM) they nonstop promise us this and that.symbian 4?dual core symbian,50+ updates, true zoom,N9 ship at year 2010,E7 ship at december of 2010,then delay and delay....N8 ship at third season of 2010... i can't understand it too. the only explanation i can think of is Elop is truly a Microsoft trojan horse.quote from somewhere. I selected Other. I’m at 11 on the scale. I still can’t get my head around it. Symbian^3 phones outsold WP7 by a huge margin without a huge marketing campaign. Symbian has 30%+ market share compared to 1.5% for WP7. Ovi store downloads have been increasing steadily. I still can’t see a rationale. Nokia is hugely profitable, they’re not close to bankruptcy. How could they throw everything away (Symbian, Meego, Ovi services) for a platform that has no traction and is functionally inferior to their current OS? I just don’t get it |

Perhaps WP7 is the one that needs Nokia. Not the other way around. Nokia just got hoodwinked.

Despite the news, no one knows for sure if Nokia is buying time to develop a brand new OS from scratch or just simply wanna cut cost by having someone else develop the software for them. What has been a problem for Nokia since the last few years was the ability to attract software developers. Perhaps they are hoping that MS dominance in PC would help them gather the force to push more apps/games out. A win win situation for both perhaps?quote from somewhere. I selected Other. QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Feb 12 2011, 01:11 AM) I totally agree with you on their over stating promises. Well, sometimes the change of management can be a little cruel. (Wolrd-of-Business...lol) However, I like the fact that Symbian is still one of the market leader even though you know other OS-es are crazily involving many minds of the young ones.Let's see what's Nokia next step... It's a little disoriented of me to see such move but I'm also trying very hard to look at the brighter side. Fingers cross?? |

QUOTE Elop clarified that MeeGo will ship this year but "not as part of another broad smarpthone platform strategy, but as an opportunity to learn." Something that sounds very similar to position Nokia took with its so-called "experimental" Maemo-based N900 last year. After the first (and apparently, only) MeeGo device ships this year, the MeeGo team will then "change their focus into an exploration of future platforms, future devices, future user experiences." Trying to determine the "next disruption" in smartphones. With this, who will buy N900 replacement?Responding to "hope for a broad MeeGo-based ecosystem," Elop said that Nokia simply wasn't moving fast enough to effectively win and compete against Apple and Google. Windows Phone makes it a "three-horse race," something that Elop says is pleasing to the carriers he's been speaking with. |

Perhaps they are hoping that MS dominance in PC would help them gather the force to push more apps/games out. A win win situation for both perhaps? I was thinking about it too. Win-win... However, they kinda need a little consistency. Too many OS will kind wreck their customer based but for the long term, it kinda lure them in due to variety of selections. Win-Win for all parties actually...QUOTE(Agito666 @ Feb 12 2011, 01:30 AM) all 50% - 50% to me... lol!! |
