With these latest development, I wonder is the release date for PR2.0 will be affected?
*
I dont think so as they just shipped out E7 last week which uses S^3 OS same as N8/C7/C6-01. So with this alliance with Microsoft, they might merge their R & D Dept. to cater in future and i believe Nokia Phones which will use WP7 should be available in 2012 or 2013 , thats my guess ya!!!!!

more like new self destruct system. Goodbye Nokia. The fall of the biggest phone manufacturer for so many years. I'm lucky to live to witness it.

I like these statement made by them especially the 2nd one...

from source
http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/11/nokia-m...pping-this-year
"Under the new strategy, MeeGo becomes an open-source, mobile operating system project. MeeGo will place increased emphasis on longer-term market exploration of next-generation devices, platforms and user experiences. Nokia still plans to ship a MeeGo-related product later this year."

Likewise, Symbian isn't going away either:

"With Nokia's planned move to Windows Phone as its primary smartphone platform, Symbian becomes a franchise platform, leveraging previous investments to harvest additional value. This strategy recognizes the opportunity to retain and transition the installed base of 200 million Symbian owners. Nokia expects to sell approximately 150 million more Symbian devices in the years to come"

Do yourself a favour : skip MeeGo phone if Nokia only release single model this year.
You don't want to be guinea pig like Maemo users.

With this decision, eventually Nokia will receive backlash from linux community.

They'll have to milk symbian to recoup some of the losses ma. Means symbian3 is gonna be very low priority already.

Thinking about it, besides the camera, the basic functions of my old Diamond2 is superior and more user friendly to N8 in every way.

But really, if Nokia don't change, next year they'll really sink.

Best decision @Microsoft has made in mobile history: Installing a Trojan inside @Nokia. #NokMsft #elopocalypse (via @Gerii92)

Nokia N8 is the last of N-series and SymbianOS.

remember folks, microsoft + sendo = sendo went bankrupt. microsoft + palm = palm went south. etc etc. microsoft + nokia = you do the math... (via @asrialbaker)

MeeGo Trashed..!!

So they're probably going to keep working on #MeeGo for tablet-ish stuff... and confusing dev platform play. #elopocalypse

They may have to.Looks like it's not all rose & sunshine after Nokia & Microsoft announce this "partnership".
So far the majority of comment look negative.

In case WP7 + Nokia device sale failed to meet expectation after few months Nokia might have to push MeeGo back.
Nokia already pissed some MeeGo/Maemo devs when they changed core stuff of Maemo -> MeeGo(GTK -> QT,Gecko ->Webkit etc2).Some devs hesitate to join MeeGo project before persuaded by Intel.
Intel flying solo now? laugh.gif

About Symbian I don't think you have to be scared of future support. There should still be some support,at very least bugfixes.Maybe the number of new symbian device release will be reduced but there will be new symbian devices.
