Map is always the greatest factor in game, no matter for Bronze/Silvers till those ppl in GSL final, everyone has their favorite and worst map. so i wonder why till now theres no an official thread for map discussion yet.

lets b**** about it here and provide your map statistics!

here is my screenshot and to be entirely honest, i was SUPER SURPRISED by my last 25 map statistics.....

4-0 on Xel Naga Cavern
6-0 on Delta Quadrant (wtf....)
1-2 on Meta
1-2 on Blistering
1-0 on Steppes
1-0 on Jungle
0-1 on Scrap Station
3-5 on Lost Temple

well, Delta Quadrant is one of the map i hate the most....in tvt its endless -.- but dno why i can get a 6-0 on it, lol....well.......its a terran favored map in TvZ...

i hate scrap, just like all terrans i guess, u cant have 3 bases without having a base exposed to harassment...

i hate blistering the most. most retarded map ever.

and im kinda sad about my lost temple statistic because i feel quite comfy on it....my favorite is xel naga cavern. i guess most of us will agree that xel naga is one of the most balanced map created by blizzard, maybe the super exposed natural is abit hard for zerg but still the paths are reasonably big for zerg flanks.

Well I hate xel naga caverns although I agreed it's the most balanced map in the ladder pool. Zergs definitely has a huge advantage if they manage to get a third base up (usually the gold base). It's a balanced map at the start, and slanting towards zergs favour in mid and late game, which is why I almost always do a two bases all in timing push here.

Xel Naga Cavern
- one of my favourite map due to it being very balanced before lategame (the gold)...
- ever tried to break the terran's PF at the gold as a toss? good luck

Delta Quadrant
- balance depends on spawn position
- close position favour terran a lot (especially the close drop distance to the natural back)
- other than that very balanced imho though getting gold is annoying

Metalopolis
- any1 that say meta is the best balanced map (tastosis) can go kill themself...
- close spawn is very hard to defend due to the freaking freaking CLOOOOOOSE rush distance

Blistering Sands
- good if u are agressive enuff

Steppes
- contrary to belief, it is not an imbalanced map... GSL stats showed it is pretty balanced compared to JB
- good maps for tanks and high ranged units in controlling the mid

Jungle
- the most unbalanced map thus removed from map pool as much as i like this map
- 3rd is almsot impossible if u are a zerg
- FE is always guranteed to be defendable

Scrap Station
- zerg favoured map due to the loooong disance while midgame allin is good thanks to the rocks
- air unit abuse is rampant especially warp prism, drop, banshee, muta etc
- dun like this map in general especially late game where it is a turtle fest

Lost Temple
- cliff abuse, nydus abuse, storm trooper abuse nuff said

-quite balance, but does not favor FE zerg play.
-hard to FE because of 3 ways to atk the expo.

Lost Temple
-Favor the terran siege tanks quite a bit, due to ramp.
-Nat expo ramp harass is quite good for terran or protoss.

Delta Quadrant
-Proxy is very much possible
-I dislike the rock at my back door expo.

Metalopolis
-Sry evo... but personally i think that meta might be the most balance map for me... (if i am wrong it is juz my retarded thinking skills)
-FE can be achieve but not so much risk
-The only thing wrong is zergling rush are gay as f*** on this map (close spawn)

Step
-Very good map, but i rarely get this map on ladder
-Favor aggressive play style

Jungle basin
-FE is very easy
-3rd hard to take primary for zerg

b**** Sands
-I hate this map
Scrap Station
-Favor zerg
-Favor air units due to close air distance

all are base on my retarded logic, sry if i am wrong. lo

a protoss hate blistering sand....owh wai.......

meta close spawn is just as bad as steppes IMO. if opponent zerg is just around my skill level, its an autowin for 2 rax play..

In fact metalo close spawn has even SHORTER rush distance than Steppes. There're lots of things Terran can do against Zerg here. 2 rax marines, stim shield timing push, even if all that failed, it's so hard for Zerg to take a shared third, both the high ground and the gold.

i didnt veto any map on my ladder so that i cn train on all bt cldnt d9 the fact i hate blistering jungle basin agnst protoss, hate delta quadrant in tvt, hate scrap station against zerg.

But overall i still think dat current map pool favors terran alot... Wol is for terran i guess

yup thus i hated metal...
toss can do the crazy timing attacks with that as well and freaking annoying to deal with the 'inca cannon' build...
taught my fren taht and he kept doing it that i am >.<

what is inca cheese? till now i think the most imba cheese i ever counter is the 3 pylon block behind mineral line then cannon up. if you dont follow the probe from the second the probe get into the base, its a gg for protoss, half a gg for terran (float base away)

x = mineral patch, - = outline of base, o = pylon, C = cannon. u trap the probe inside enemy mineral line with 2-3 pylon and build 1-2 cannon behind his mineral line.

I thought cannon has to be built within pylon power grid? Is it possible to build that cannon first?

you proxy pylon at metalopolis's natural, then cannon up in the base. metalopolis's natural map placement if you still remember, the mineral line is very near to the edge of that base.

Seemed like there are a whole bunch of new maps in Season 3 ladder. Any comment on those? I still haven't tried any of them yet but according to the descriptions, most of the new maps are small size. Lucky for Terran I guess?

Scrap Station, Metalopolis, Slag Pits and Delta Quadrant have been removed.

didnt have the chance to play on new maps as my few ladder games r on xelnaga cavern & backwater gulch (apart from antiga shipyard)

the new antiga shipyard is very very damn small.lack of barren airspace meant that side drops gonna be less effective.the central tower is pivotal to control both gold expo,so siege tanks can have enjoyable moments there sieging bases from there..
but a weird thing is..why the area behind the smokescreen on the initial starting base so small?enuf for a depot or a pylon there...
