QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Feb 26 2011, 10:51 PM) Wah, so despo Anyway, words of advice, you probably won't be able to see whether those laptops have the certified stickers or not right until after you pay the full amount/deposit... Of course la despo. Can't wait to try the speakers and the switchable graphics. Im getting sick with my y560p. Only can use 2 hours+ for normal web browsing. Speakers also not loud compared to Dell XPS 15. Order right not dun hav certified stickers??? Need to ask the salesperson b4 buying

QUOTE(imin @ Feb 27 2011, 01:25 AM) you're talking about the new lenovo laptop, right? read somewhere that at first it was advertised as having switchable graphic, but then changed to non-switchable. can't those who have bought it, return the laptop and ask for refunds? I mean there's supposed to be a law for something like this, right? Yea, of course there is. But if Lenovo denies it la, then im screwed cause i got forgot take screenshot of the old ad. But anyways Lenovo already said that they accept refund.

They said to come again next week that is early March around 2nd or 3rd. Wooohoo . Hopefully can see the N53SN during the PC Expo at Mid valley on 4th to 6th. Added on February 27, 2011, 5:21 pmQUOTE(ThisIsBoletaria @ Feb 27 2011, 05:12 PM) Has anyone found any reviews for notebooks based on the SandyBridhe I5 processors?Ā Trying to decide between the available I7s and wiaitng for the I5s if you wan better performance, go for the quad core i7. If you wan ok ok performance and cheap laptop go for the dual core i5 This post has been edited by Trance4eva: Feb 27 2011, 05:21 PM

The i5 is dual core 4 threads le(some only 2 threads i think). The i7 is quad core 8 threads. i7 will totally pwn the i5. Maybe for some games can play quite smooth but some got lag abit la. If your not a "power hungry" person then go for the i5. If you wan the best performance for a laptop then go for the i7

QUOTE(kelvin_ng @ Feb 27 2011, 09:09 PM) Haha. I will just wait for HP dv6 wor.. I like the spec especially the GPU with 6570 GDDR5 1GB. Another thing is the design i love it. Yea HP dv6 GPU is not bad. But HP is famous with heat problems. Might want to reconsider the N53SN instead?? Added on February 27, 2011, 9:15 pmbtw does anyone know the diff between GPU that are DDR3, GDDR3 and GDDR5??? This post has been edited by Trance4eva: Feb 27 2011, 09:15 PM

QUOTE(kelvin_ng @ Feb 27 2011, 10:33 PM) N53SN... I'm still not sure yet. But the price is slightly higher than HP dv6 one... Added on February 27, 2011, 10:38 pmAnd one more thing.. who can guarantee N53SN have no heat issue? N53SN is only RM200 more than the Hp dv6. Hp has the HD6570M GDDR5 but Asus has the GT550M DDR3. I heard from some forumer recently that DDR3 or GDDR5 does not make much diff except that GDDR5 consume much more power. GT550M>HD6570M btw well im not sure bout Asus also la but i never heard any heat issue from Asus before except the G73jh la. Cause of the G73JH heat issue i think few months later Asus quicky release the G73JW This post has been edited by Trance4eva: Feb 27 2011, 11:03 PM

QUOTE(shahiryusoff @ Feb 28 2011, 12:29 AM) For Graphics it's GDDR3 (Graphics Double Data Rate, version 3) or GDDR5 (Graphics Double Data Rate, version 5). DDR3 ( Double Data Rate 3) term is used for RAM. So are there huge performace dif between them?? I thought some GPU also uses DDR3 like the GT550M on the N53SN GT550M http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForc...0M.42264.0.htmlHD6870M has all 3 http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD...0M.43733.0.html Added on February 28, 2011, 2:34 amHey guys i think we can see Asus SB laptops real soon. Now confirm that Asus already fix the chipset problem d and now begin shipping Announced last week http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?opti...14346&Itemid=47http://www.techpowerup.com/141196/ASUS-to-...-Notebooks.htmlhttp://www.fareastgizmos.com/computing/asu...e_notebooks.phpThis post has been edited by Trance4eva: Feb 28 2011, 02:34 AM

QUOTE(astria @ Feb 28 2011, 07:09 AM) DDR3 is used in GPU as well... my GPU is using it (though GPU-Z detect it as GDDR3)... Added on February 28, 2011, 7:15 ambetween GDDR3 and DDR3, not that much... DDR3 usually runs at up to 1333MHz, while GDDR3 used to be in the range of 1200-1500MHz (when DDR2 was mainstream), and GDDR4 running at 1700-2000MHz... but as GDDR4 has been retired, GDDR3's clock has been pushed to around 2000MHz as well... GDDR5, technically speaking it should be called QDR instead - Quad Data Rate, as it provides twice the bandwidth compared to the DDR variants (DDR1-DDR3, GDDR2-GDDR4)... instead of transmitting 2 pieces of data, GDDR5 can transmit 4 pieces, thus doubling the effective bandwidth, giving u speed like 3600-4000MHz... so try to look for GDDR5 if possible... it improves the performance significantly... a pretty close comparison would be Acer Aspire Ethos 5943G (Radeon HD5850 GDDR3) and AW m15x (Radeon HD5850 GDDR5) oh i see then the GT550M 2gb DDR3 in N53SN better than the Hp dv6???? Now abit conflicted with HP dv6 and the N53SN. Does the GDDR5 and DD3 play an important role???

QUOTE(astria @ Feb 28 2011, 02:19 PM) GDDR5 >> GDDR3 > DDR3 pick GDDR5 whenever possible... so GT550M DDR3 or HD6570 GDDR5 better??cause i check at notebookcheck.net the GT550 is class 1 and 6570 is class 2.

QUOTE(hsienhsien @ Mar 7 2011, 05:53 PM) guys, is there any problem if i bought the first batch of SB chipset which has problem in it ? got in the long run. The perforamance of the hardware that is connected to the SATA port Ex HDD, optical drive will downgrade. Most probably in 3 years If your gonna buy the 1st batch of SB laptops then u go to Service Center to get your motherboard change after that.

QUOTE(hsienhsien @ Mar 7 2011, 06:09 PM) oh, means actually no big deal for buying the chipset problem proc but just have to replace the motherboard after that rite? yup basicly just buy then go service center and replace the motherboard.......when the parts arrive. I dunno bout HP but it seem for Lenovo is arriving on 8th April But in some very very rare cases......the problems can be seen immediately. Only 3% of SB laptops owners will suffer from this problem accordin to Intel la Anyway its safe to buy
