ermm... that's desktop...
and i dun see where in the article mention a software can help u avoid the problem... the Asus and Giga application merely tell u which port has been populated, so that u can move the cables to the unaffected ports... This post has been edited by astria: Feb 7 2011, 09:28 PM |

QUOTE(GooD_DaY @ Feb 7 2011, 09:32 PM) ^Yeah, I know that the programme is just to detect which port the laptop is using. The problem is can we switch it like disassembling it? Or other ways? doubt so... a laptop has everything hardwired to save space... it's not like desktops were u ve all the wires running around... |

QUOTE(Quantum_thinking @ Feb 7 2011, 11:56 PM) Sometime, i really wonder why such a critical flaw is not being detected and being fixed before it is being shipped to the customer. it's juz a design over sight, nothing really special... let's juz say shit happen at times...it's not the first time such things happen in the industry anyway... *cough*Nvidia*cough Added on February 8, 2011, 8:21 am QUOTE(angelbratz @ Feb 8 2011, 02:08 AM) Need to wait the Acer Procedure for exchanging Laptop...What model is offered to swap... i assume standard RMA procedure, as wat happened during the GeForce 8M issue...What they need from us...How Long To wait...Documents...Can we go ourself instead of going to the retailer and wait them exchange for us... A lot of Hassle if must go thru retailers... QUOTE(Borsch Soup @ Feb 8 2011, 06:15 AM) nope, it's business as usual for them...This post has been edited by astria: Feb 8 2011, 08:21 AM |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Feb 8 2011, 02:13 PM) Quoted from the article: "Because the chipset error does not affect the first two SATA ports on the motherboard, Intel has agreed to resume shipments of the affected boards as long as OEMs promise not to use the other four ports. On notebooks, the only devices that attach to SATA ports are the hard drives, optical drives, and eSATA ports. Considering that most notebooks have just one hard drive, one optical drive, and no eSATA ports, most systems should be able to ship without a problem. Notebooks that have dual hard drives or eSATA ports can still ship as long as the vendor uses a third-party SATA controller card for those extra ports." well, isn't that how budget laptops are confined? |

from business point of view... why bother when it's not critical at all?
data integrity is not compromised and thus, dun fix anything ain't broken, yet... when was the last time that we had a recall? battery that explodes... they may ve already done sth with business laptops... but consumers? blah... |

QUOTE(This is a Lamp @ Feb 11 2011, 09:50 AM) 95C is horrible! You probably need a cooler or something! Also, where do you place your laptop? The surface material sometimes matters...you can't really play on the bed because the hot air gets back in the laptop. not everyone is using a Sager...95C during full load is pretty normal for us... mine would e been at this range too if i haven't replace the stock thermal compound with OCZ Freeze... |

i think we ve to get the concept rit first...
with Nehalem, Intel tries to implement the idea of integration... they want to put everything into 1 chip... CPU, memory controller and GPU... Nehalem (quad core)only see CPU and memory controller integrated together, while Westmere (dual core) has those 2 and GPU semi-integrated... Westmere is not the perfect solution as the CPU cores are made in 32nm while GPU core is 45nm, but this allows Intel to push out the product quick... now with Sandy Bridge, Intel further integrates everything by making 4 CPU cores + 1 GPU core all in 32nm... u like it or not, u still ve GMA HD purchased with the CPU... while this is a good idea for the value market, it's the opposite for the performance and enthusiast users... so it's up to u to decide if u want such setup or not... as for using the GMA HD, it's determined by the mobo... chipsets with prefix "H" means they re hard-wired to the GMA HD and allows for video out put, while "P" means they ve those wires laser-cut so that GMA HD will not be used at all... |

QUOTE(ngkhanmein @ Feb 11 2011, 04:29 PM) ya.. that's y i lucky din pick SB.. i felt SB alot problem occured! personally lah no proof just feel only ok.. juz shit happens... that's all...this is nothing compared to GeForce 8M... that was epic... try combining keeping mum abt the issue + exposed by users + almost went into courts + denying responsibility... at least Intel announced it by themselves...
