Yes. But unused ram = waste. My netbook only uses 67MB (Arch linux FTW!) after booting and less than 400MB with chromium browser with few tabs on. If I upgrade to 8GB, it will make no difference in smoothness.

This is why task killers are unnecessary. Android will manage its ram automatically. However I read that android manages it poorly. Thanks to kernels like speedmod, SO and others, there's no need to worry about ram management anymore.

The battery stuff is meant to you. The link is meant for TS. Sorry for not separating the sentences into different paragraphs tongue.gif

tested speedmod k12s bigmem. seems to be smoother than normal version. don't mind sacrificing the 720p vid recording

switch off ur phone... wait til it has fully powered off, then do these..

1. Recovery mode(2e) --- Press volume up + Home + Power button, once u see the Galaxy S I9000 screen, release all 3 buttons
If u see a green android with the headline recovery 2e then u have 2e Recovery

2. Download mode      --- Press volume down + Home + Power button, once u see the Galaxy S I9000 screen, release all 3 buttons
If u see a yellow triangle with android in it then u have download mode

These are needed to flash custom rom, if u don't have them, read first post. there's a link to fix these 3 button combo
*
it's better to backup imei also before starting to flash any roms/kernels. thanks to gmhafiz for the heads-up nod.gif

to those using speedmod kernel, is it smoother by using the bigmem version? on mine, there is a significant difference of smoothness between the normal and bigmem version

hey guys i got a newb question.. im currently on darky 7.0... i wanna flash to darky 9.1... i juz downloaded darky 9.1 extreme.. i dunno wat the extreme means, but dats not the issue.. i read sumwhere dat when u wanna flash to 9.1 u shud haf at least 8.0 on ur fone first? is this true? or do i juz flash straight away?

btw. after reading all ur comments, now i feel like i shud haf gone bak to doc's
*
try flashing straight away. if there's prob, proceed with wipe or doc's rom

extreme means nothing, basically major improvements
