i think its something to do with BD LIVE

same thing with Alien Antho, first time insert disc, the screen is dark for quite some time

i guess some data need to be install into the player or loading data from the net (find wifi, connect wifi, dload/upload data)

after the initial play, everything is fine.

so, i dont think its disc prob..
*
hmmm... but how come it only happen in 2nd & 3rd trailer and episode 2. Initial start-up the disc is ok, then after 1st trailer, it hang there, then I skip skip... and success play last trailer, then go to menu but the menu background video is hang, the menu still functioning.

I stop the disc, let it play again, and this time my menu is running perfectly, but still 2nd and 3rd trailer not playable, then my 2nd episode is play but stuck in less than a seconds.

Then I stop all, and re-insert, this time all not playable and my player show disc fail, I took out and try alien anthology but fail also. So I off the player and on back, my alien anthology play fine (wow! the best ever menu did in BD I ever seen). Then I try again's the disc 1 of Spartacus, this time 2nd and 3rd trailer play but in few seconds it hang again! and 2nd episode still not playable. (The menu no longer give me any issue)

I switch of the player again, and on back, and I skip all the trailer and 2nd episode still stuck there, I fast forward a bit and rewind back, and it playback completely my 2nd episode this time.

Hmmm... it seems more play more smooth the disc, maybe.... as I no longer heard the cracking sound on loading the disc.

I try 2nd disc and ok.

Now I am playing the sound of music, it play fine.

Hmmmmm........... is this the disc faulty or compatibility issue?

** My player did not connect to BD-Live and it is off all times.

So maybe it is like Crank 2 BD that won't play properly unless you insert a pen drive into the player even though you disabled the BD LIve function

Hmmm.. probably then.

and the Spartacus disc design idea was stupid! I choose play all in disc 1 but I did not complete finish it, then I put in disc 2 and it pop-up asking me either insert back disc 1 to play all or cancel to return to disc 2 menu! What!? Such idea also got! My god!

I think i watched it 3-4 times already. Although the grains washed out but the PQ looks healthy.
For a 1965 film there wont be any better than this edition. I hope more and more classics gets released in a stellar picture & kick ass sound quality.

Hope also but I don't think it gonna a lot classics did this, as I remember I read somewhere b4, the company is invest a lot of money to clean it during 1st release DVD last time where the amount is crazy enough to shot a new movie.

The Sound of Music BD still got slightly (just slightly) color change in same position scenes but it was not so noticeble compare with last time DVD release b4. It still got grain but in acceptable level for such old film. It is superior far far better than a lot more recent movie clean up.

Love it!.

------------------

Alien Anthology - I just test disc 3 (I simply take and put in to test) It is clear also but I notice it seems over DNR in certain scenes where a bit fake look, overall still impressive and also far far better than my DVD last time. The Alien Anthology is by far the best BD menu did I ever seen.

"The Sound of Music' has always been a celebratory musical, but this three-disc Blu-ray edition gives all of us one more reason to celebrate and admire this wonderful, Oscar-winning film. The songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein, the Austrian scenery, and the performances of Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, and the seven Von Trapp children come alive like never before, and the romantic, heartwarming, and inspirational story feels more immediate as a result. Superb video, top-notch audio, and enough special features to turn everyone into walking 'Sound of Music' encyclopedias make this extra special package truly one of our favorite things. Without a doubt, this is a must-own disc, and one that will make a great gift during any season of the year."

It is the most complete release I ever seen for a movie:
  • Disc 1 - BD version of the movie (45th Anniversary Edition)
  • Disc 2 - BD version of additional special features
  • Disc 3 - DVD version of the movie (45th Anniversary Edition)
  • Disc 4 - CD version of the movie original soundtrack (45th Anniversary Edition)

Bro Ares187, the 4 Disc Collector's Edition contains all the above. That's what bro Andrew meant. Its not a separate item.
They are part of the boxset collection.

Ha! Ha!

-----------------

Just tested my last two recent receive BD.

Contact - the PQ is ok but the judder issue is bad. (Hmmm.... I think BD is means for 50GB, all pBD or even original BD record in 25GB can seen such issue). I notice in original BD also for "Planet Earth". This is the only two titles I get in 25GB. Next time not getting any 25GB original BD already.

Close Encounters - perfectly transfer, great PQ & SQ.

** I still got "The Never Ending Story", "The Fountain" & "Poltergeist" in 25GB version... hmmm..........
