from who? mitmivec? what sd card did they give you? i bought my a380 from key color they gave me some shit sd.. take 30 sec shot = process image for another 30 sec.

Are you sure the additional 30 seconds is not due to high ISO long exposure noise reduction? As per my understanding from my previous Canon 550D, if high ISO long exposure noise reduction is on, the camera will take 2 exposures of equal duration: one normal and one with the shutter closed. The 2nd exposure will be subtracted from the first to reduce black noise. Just tested with my NEX-3 and it is the same.

BTW does anyone know if NEX high ISO long exposure NR can be turned on/off at will? Or can it only be set by the camera depending on the shoot mode?

is it good if we turn off the noise reduction (NR)?
or at what time we should use NR what time we should disable it?

in most cases, i keep it turned ON..

times when i turn it OFF is when im shooting fireworks or when i need to keep shooting without delay in between shots

mine is off ever since i found out that the additional processing time is not worth since noise level during long exposure are quite low

long exposure NR can be on or off
the other one is High ISO NR, it can be either auto or weak but can't be off (mine is set to weak to preserve details)

For long exposure noise reduction, the most important part of it is to eliminate hot pixels. I leave it on all the time. Even during fireworks. hmm.gif

Codyx: If you turn off SteadyShot, it will last as long as any other dSLR shooting video.

puppydogpoo: Yes, you can turn off Long Exposure NR on the NEX bodies. I tried in A mode. However in iAuto, the option is On and cannot be disabled.

fansoption: Nicely done in #3!

Strange... On my NEX3 with Firmware 3:

M and A mode: Long Exposure NR Off. Cannot change ("This function is currently disabled")
Night View Scene mode: Long Exposure NR On. Cannot change ("This function is currently disabled")

I didn't test iAuto bcos AFAIK it is supposed to detect the scene and apply suitable settings, so will probably get inconsistent results.

Image type was Fine JPEG and High ISO NR was Weak.
