Hi Benny,
I tried as per recommendation to change file system to EXT4 but face some issues in below stages..
    * Download the EXT4 TAR file from  HERE..Done n OK!!

    * Launch Odin 1.7 ,Tab connected,COM identified-OK!
in PDA select the TAR file ( do not select the ‘repartition’ option)...do i click START here on Odin?but i dun see any changes in the status bar!..did i miss anything here??

Not able to move to below stages!
    * Odin completed,  the TAB reset and freeze on TAB logo – is a normal condition . I switch it off ( hold down power button for 5 secs )
    * Go to Recovery Mode ( Press down VolumeUp button and switch on TAB )
    * TAB reset and  perform the EXT4 conversion ; you can see all the conversion progress on screen
    * Once completed, the TAB Reboot.

Appreciate yr advice!!
*
Once the selected PDA tar file appear in the box, just press Start

I am only guessing here - is your bootloader signed ?? My guideline I wrote is for Europe TABS with unsigned bootloaders. I could be wrong here but no harm trying. Any forumer here who has same build please advise too how you did it

If it is local Msian set from one of the telcos, I recall some forumers reported theirs are signed. So before you change kernel to EXT4 flash a compatible rom so you can later unsigned/unlocked the bootloader. The best is to flash rotohammer JME or JMG.

JME : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894763
After you have flash ROTO rom, Download the correct CF Root patch from

Corrected LINK : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071

Use it to verify your bootloader status. Patch it if it is signed

Then proceed to flash the EXT4 kernel

Select the correct file to download. Your TAB is in default RFS file system. You have 2 CHOICES :

1, Change kernel only - download MCKr3 ( RFS)
2. Change kernel plus change file system to EXT 4 - download MCKr3 ( EXT4)

You should check your bootloader and ensure it was unsigned b4 flash any Kernel or ROM. Pls refer to:

Although you flash rotohammer JME or JMG, your bootloader status will follow previous ROM.
rotohammer ROM WON"T patch your previous bootloader from signed to unsigned.
However, rotohammer will root your TAB directly.
So, pls unsigned the bootloader using Chanfire patch b4 flash to Ext4.
We can directly flash to Ext4 without install CF Root, coz MoDaCo Kernel intergrated CWM Recovery for you already.

Could someone pls interpret following terms:
1. Deodexed
2. Zipaligned

These terms always appear on most ROM or Kernel threads at XDA.
Just don't understand what actually happen (I think is some sort related with programming) inside our TAB during flashing process.

Excerpts from : The link explains in quite detail about it
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-i...complete-guide/
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-i...complete-guide/

zipalign is an archive alignment tool introduced first time with 1.6 Android SDK (software development kit). It optimizes the way an Android application package (APK) is packaged. Doing so enables the Android operating system to interact with the application more efficiently, and hence has the potential to make the application and overall the whole system much faster. Execution time is minimized for zipaligned applications, resulting is lesser amount of RAM consumption when running the APK.

In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These ‘odex’ files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applications difficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.

THEN COMES DEODEX

Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.

In summary, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.

The Navigation function in Google Maps 5.0 and above cannot work in Malaysia and many other countries. If you want to have voice assisted navigation , you can installed the brut version of google maps .

Refer post# 2 Q10 n 11 : I have post link to download brut and instructions how to installed it

Greetings,

I'd like to find out if anybody has encountered problems with the latest Google Map 5.1?

After upgrading to the latest Google Map 5.0 and the recent 5.1, I've notice the following:

1. Unable to pinpoint location when indoor using WIFI/GSM network. Before updating to Map 5.0 or 5.1, there was no problem to pinpoint the location. I have Google Map [Brut] which is based on Google Map 4.6 running and it has no problem in locating the device location indoor.

2. Frequent hanging followed by "Force Close" occurrence for Google Map 5.1. This happens even when Google Map is not running.

Would appreciate if anybody can share their experience on this. Thanks~!

do you mean about this one?

10. Which is the best app to take screenshots , preferably FREE ?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «All screenshot apps required the TAB to be rooted. My favorite is "ShootMe" follow by "Screen Capture". Both apps are free, download it from the Market.

11. How do I access the PAID apps in the market ?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide..

used that kinda case on my htc magic before..

for me..i think its best to apply invisible shield or something like that.
those cases will protect the back of the phone indeed but from the side..dust will somehow accumulate and repeatedly scratch the inside of it when u least expected.
