Roto ROM doesn't mention remove protected bootloader. As mentioned on his thread:
"They don't contain and won't install protected bootloaders either"
My another noob question here:
Bootloader is part of the ROM or come with the TAB?
*
Yeah that's what i said, Roto repackage his rom so that it doesn't contain the protected bootloaders.

Here is what happen :

BREAKING NEWS / JAN 15: A fix has been found ! See this post. Also see the bounty thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906464.

This really applies to other ROMs as well, but the "new" JM6/9/A/C/D/E/F ROMs specifically.

Some of these ROMs include new bootloaders. These bootloaders check checksums/signatures in various parts of the firmwares. The "normal" Samsung ROMs, nor custom ROMs and kernels, have these checksums.

The result is that once flashed, you cannot revert to older/official/custom Samsung ROMs, and you are pretty much stuck using one of these four ROMs, as they are the only ones containing the right checksums.

At least TRIPLE CHECK if you want to flash one of these ROMs, that what you are flashing DOES NOT include the new bootloaders ( boot.bin and sbl.bin ). I know from the CF-Root thread that a fair number of you are already too late, but I thought to warn new users anyways. Some modders (like rotohammer) already usually remove these parts, but still triple check everything to make sure.

There is no known fix. I know, I've tried all of them some people suggested in other threads. None of them really works. Sure, with some effort, you can get a different firmware to somewhat run, but you'll still be using the "checksum" bootloaders and the kernel will not be modified. You will still be running the kernel from the "checksum" firmware you loaded earlier. You will not be able to do full flashes, nor will KIES updates work.

Hopefully somebody will find a real solution for this issue for those already affected. If so, please post it in this thread.

So what Roto did was that he took the latest rom and removed the protected bootloaders.

Hence why there should be a warning for people to not update to the latest firmware carelessly.

Hi All,

Need yours advice as I realised that the battary after fully charged (can see the 100% indicator), just after unplug the charger it will immediately drop to 99%. Not sure is this normal?
*
mine is the same. Think should b normal. No big issue thus far. Just mayb the widgets or launcher are more resource intensive.

Then this will strange for the Roto ROM that i useed to flash my Bricked TAB yesterday.
I check with "SGT-Bootloader-Patch" after flashed and found my TAB contain the signed bootloader.
How possible this happen if you said Roto removed the protected bootloaders?
That's why i asked the bootloader is integrated with ROM or it come with TAB.
If integrated with ROM, i should found unsigned bootloader in the Roto ROM, right?

The file that i download was checked with md5 and same as shown on roto thread.
Before i flash SGT-Bootloader-Patch, is it save? Sorry still worry will BRICK my SGT.
coz the flash file warn you "DANGEROUS! Flashed unprotected bootloaders"  sweat.gif
*
Standard warning lah ! You are now have some experienced, no need to worry - just flash again
I am pretty busy today. Later tonight i will download the patch and tried on my TAB to see the bootloader status. Mine is also Roto JME v4 rom similar to yours and would also like to know whether is signed bootloader. However I doubt so as i flash the Chainfire recovery within few second success and reboot about less than 2 minutes

benny....would like u to verify about the misaligned menu interface in papago x5...any fix for it..
*
Let me say this. Papago X5 originally was not meant for big screens 7". So the spareparts hack was used to force it to be full screen mode . As far as I know there is no solution/or tweak to fix this floating menu.

However recently a month ago Papago released specific versions for various Android models - htc desire HD, Aria, Legend, Wildfire and even Galaxy Tab. Check this link:

http://www.m3shoppe.com/index.php?page=sho...emart&Itemid=26

I have communicated with M3shoppe but they have yet to confirm back to me whether the version being sold and marketed specifically for Galaxy Tab is default full screen. I ask them this because I noted in their product specs in the web, supported resolution is still shown as 480x800. If it is developed specifically for the TAB, I'd supposed it will no longer has this float menu problem and resolution will be superb

Accessories are just USB cable, charger, wired headset and a small guide booklet
Plenty of cases you can find in most pda shops - if you are in KL, just go over to LowYat or PJ Digital Mall, Summit, Subang Parade

Or you can buy online from forum lowyat : just google for it at either http://forum.lowyat.net/MobilePhonesandRelatedAccessories or http://forum.lowyat.net/Notebooks&PDAs

Added on January 27, 2011, 6:16 pmklwong99: I just tested mine with Chainfire patch and these are my results:

Bootloaders : You are safe
Signed none
Not signed Pbl, Sbl, Sbl_backup, Kernel
Assessment : can flash anything

So probably your Tab's original rom is signed-protected while mine is not ( which is from Europe)

Install the patch file ( it is a APK file ) from Chainfire
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071

Launch it and it will check your Tab and produce a report as what I have listed earlier

Select patch it if yours is signed and you can now flash
There is no harm running this patch

PressReader app for the Google Android platform can now be downloaded from Android Market, confirms NewspaperDirect. Just late last year NewspaperDirect worked hand in hand with Samsung in PressReader and PressDisplay apps preinstallation on few of Samsungs Android-based devices such as Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S smartphones.

PressReader has more than 1,700 newspaper and magazine titles.

NewspaperDirect said that PressReader is a free app for Google Android devices. This app will enable users to purchase newspapers and magazines for $0.99 per issue or downloaded in combination with a paidPressDisplay.com subscription.

I just upgraded /change my kernel to ModacoR3 which is a ext4 based system. Thereafter I upgraded my rom to Modaco b1 release ( based on firmware JMF) . The ext4 is much better than Samsung's proprietary RFS system. I recorded a vastly improved Quadrant reading of 1781 compared to 1025 previously. Though these figures do not really much but it shows the computing performance has improved. The TAB is now more responsive. Google Nexus S and all subsequent products will be based on EXT4 file system

Those interested can read the details about it in my blog

It is just like default rom ; the changes are the innards not the appearance. You can always makeup/customize yours - plenty of widgets /launchers to do such
