I knew it is old stuffs, but now they have the advantage of quantity.
one sukhoi vs two f16s, sukhoi pun susah.

if its WW2 ages i believe they might have advantages in quantity.
however with the current warfare it more to BVR. I believe MKM have more advantages compare to theirs BVR range.

Indons got a lot of airspace to cover. So, like it or not, buying 2nd hand US F16s is their best way to go.

yup given that they have limited military budget slightly higher than ours"IINM".

We still need some fighter to cover Sabah and Serawak areas as well.

I agree. Maybe with Typhoon or 2nd batch SU30MKM perhaps? Since we also have to cover the vast Asia Tenggara Sea, our fighters must also be equipped with anti-ship capabilities..

Elaborating on an announcement on Friday by the presidents of the two countries, the department said Jakarta would cover an estimated up to $750 million to refurbish the late-model fighters and overhaul their engines.

History of Block25
USAF F-16C block 25, #84-1299, during Desert Storm.
Production of the F-16C/D began with Block 25 (also known as MSIP Stage II). The first F-16C (serial number #83-1118) flew on June 19, 1984 and was delivered to the USAF one month later.

boleh.lebih kurang

there are MLU upgrade that practically bring the old F-16 to be as effective as block 50

but there's a reason why the US(and most western european countries that operates F-16) don't go that road;airframe fatigue

netherland, belgium, norway, denmark, portugal do MLU modification to their F-16.

before modification the airframe should passed/undergo extensive Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (PACER SLIP).
after that airframe hours will extended to 5,000 hours or 30yrs.

meanwhile those 24 F-16 which will acuired by TNI-AU has remained 4,000 hrs Airframe hours (without MLU) or
equal of 20 yrs of service.

afaik the idea of this acqusition, this F-16s will become 'stopgap' before joint production of next generation fighter between S.Korea n
Indonesia (K-FX/I-FX) began in 2024.

S'pore, M'sia End Bilateral Exercise on High Note

For six days beginning 15 Nov, a total of 400 personnel from the Singapore and Malaysian armies have been hard at work perfecting their moves together in a bilateral exercise codenamed Semangat Bersatu.

Culminating in a full-troop exercise, Exercise Semangat Bersatu provided soldiers from the 4th Singapore Infantry Regiment (4 SIR) and the 1st Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (1 RMR) with many chances to share professional experiences.

At the closing ceremony held on 21 Nov in Singapore, Chief of Army Major-General (MG) Ravinder Singh said: "As the security issues that our countries face become more challenging, our two armies must be ready to cooperate to achieve our common goals and interests. I believe that the exercise provides an excellent platform for us to facilitate mutual learning and increase the interoperability between our armies."

He was joined by his counterpart General Datuk Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Zainal Abidin, who added: "I am sure that all participants have benefited from the exercise, especially the Malaysian soldiers, who have learnt a lot about the conduct of urban operations."

Singapore and Malaysian troops perfecting their urban drills together on 17 Nov.

Prior to the closing ceremony, both men observed the conduct of an urban operation training drill which saw soldiers from both sides working closely with each other to achieve their mission objectives.

On the ground, sentiments were similarly upbeat. "The level of cooperation was very high," said Captain Edwin Chua, a Platoon Commander in 4 SIR. "Initially there were some challenges because of language differences, but we overcame that because both sides made every effort to communicate."

"We worked well together even though we follow different doctrines, especially in the area of tactics during urban operations," said Sergeant Henri Purna Irawan Bin Basir, a Section Commander in 1 RMR.

This year marks the 17th time that the two armies are training together in this series of exercise. First conducted in 1989, Exercise Semangat Bersatu provides an excellent opportunity for both armies to strengthen professional interactions and enhance mutual understanding between personnel.

Red Arrows pilot killed in ejector-seat incident
A pilot with the UK Royal Air Force (RAF) Aerobatics Team - the Red Arrows - was killed on 8 November after the ejection seat of his BAE Systems Hawk T.1 aircraft was initiated while it was still on the ground. Although the cause of the incident is now the subject of a Military Aviation Authority (MAA) investigation, images of the Hawk on the flightline at RAF Scampton show that the front seat has been ejected and that the aircraft appears to have been stationary at the time

Doubt it. As with any other VIP's in the military, it's probably an honorary gesture. She wears the beret but no wings. I could be wrong though and I want to be wrong but alas, such is life.

Well this is a freak accident but not weird, TUDM too has accounted couple of time of similar incident happened.

IINM with Hawk (coincidence?) and the MKM.

the MKM case is during ejection seat maintenance by the Irkut crew.
