Its better if you go to the shops and try the VC and Non VC lens, see which one works best for you. Different people different requirement, some need it and some dont. For me VR/VC/OS or whatever its called are always welcome.

QUOTE(pikipiki @ Jan 27 2011, 01:13 PM) Try without VC above 100mm, hahahaha, earthquake! and it is super hard to focus on your subject as the view in viewfinder keep on bouncing even if you have steady hand as the long focal length magnifies the shake. My Tokina 50-135mm doesnt have any kind of stabilization so i know the feeling first hand Summore imagine wearing a paintball mask which makes you barely see the viewfinder, its abit of a nightmare

Already played around with the 2470 since my friend own one, definitely gonna get it when i have the moolah The 85mm 1.4G is too far out of my reach so no point testing . Thinking of trying the 60 or 105 micro and maybe 80-200mm F2.8

The body coating, it wears off after sometimes making the lens looks really beat up but the new coating said to fix the problem already

My only expericen with tamron is the 28-70mm F2.8 and urghhh the built quality really a turn off. Even the 18-105 kit feels alot more solid then the tamron

I've used 50mm 1.4G many times before and to me i dont see the problem with the focusing speed. Probably because the i use it as a general purpose lens + for low light, not sports

Still the best option is to try it for yourself and judge if its worth your money or not since you the one buying. Everyone has different opinion on things, like me i'd avoid tamron lens because of the shoddy built quality and plastics used (not sure if they already improve now days or not though)
