You should use your Maybankard 2 Amex today and tomorrow, instead of yesterday, to fully enjoy the 5% cash back.
Had no choice. Was in KL for just 2 nights this month. Came back to KK just a few hours ago. Anyway, i am sure i can achieve the RM50 cash back for this month as i am going to charge RM1k+ to my card next Saturday tongue.gif

QUOTE(winner @ Feb 19 2011, 07:27 PM)
I have just discovered that one of my transactions with Maybankard 2 Amex last week have different transaction and posting dates. The posting date is 2 days after the transaction date. This is the tricky part of the 5% cash back, as we have no idea on whether the 5% cash back on weekend is based on transaction date or posting date.
I did not notice any discrepancy in my Maybankard 2 AMEX transaction history, not yet anyway and hopefully i will never face such issue.

Hi all,

I swiped my maybank 2 amex cars in singapore last friday and saturday. When i checked online, the transactions were not updated yet. Anyone knows how long does it take for overseas transaction to show and any additional charges?

Thanks!
Depends. For transactions done locally, it is usually updated the next day. Check it again tomorrow. And there is 2.5% charge for payments made in foreign currency.

It is confirmed that the cash back is based on transaction date, not posting date. My doubt is cleared.
May not be so for my case. I got the full RM50 rebate too for last month and if it is based on transaction date, then there is no way that i am getting the full RM50 rebate.

By the way, any idea if online purchases on the weekend entitle for the 5% weekend rebate too ? hmm.gif

Would you mind to post your transaction details including posting and transaction dates here?

I made some transactions on weekends which have different transaction and posting dates. The posting dates were 1 to 3 days after the transaction dates. Even though the transactions were posted on weekdays, I was given the 15% cash back for the transactions made during weekends.
I think we can conclude that online purchases made during weekend are entitled for the 5% weekend rebate too.

So Miles, I see nothing wrong in your statement. And it is confirmed, cash back is given based on transaction dates and not posting dates.
Yes. Before that someone said transaction done online is not eligible for the weekend's 5% cash back. Therefore, i did not expect to get any cash back for the MAS tickets i bought.

Did they state that in the T&C? I don't think so right.
Did not go through the T&C myself. It was still so new then with many informations weren't available and even spelling errors which is why i did not bother to read it then. Anyway, someone posted here last month (or was it in the credit card thread) that online purchases are not entitled for the weekend's 5% cash back.

The culprit who posted that online don't get 5% on weekend was me. But I did state that it was commented by someone at my blog where she mentioned that CS informed her and I gave a link to that comment.
Ah, it was you ! laugh.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Mar 3 2011, 07:04 AM)
So we can now confirm that all type of transactions on weekends get 5% right?
Affirmative.

By the way, have any of you received your account statement for Maybankard 2 cards ? Does it come in two separate statements or what ? And guess what, i found out last night that Maybank sent my February statement(s) to my old house which had been sold a while ago. The funny thing is that every time i called them and when they asked me what my billing address is, they do have the updated address system in my system doh.gif

In Taiwan now...contemplating which card to swipe substantial transaction with, MBBKard 2 Amex or Visa. Miles, please advise as you are the guru with most recent foreign CC transactions there. Thanks
biggrin.gif I actually used my Maybankard 2 AMEX mostly. Have never tried on Maybankard 2 VISA. The exchange rate for my Maybankard 2 VISA is definitely much lower than other banks.

I think it's now pretty much confirmed that Starbucks won't be accepting Amex cards anymore.  sweat.gif  cry.gif
And this is where the HSBC credit card comes in play ... biggrin.gif

i want to cancel my amex gold card, possible that they will retain the MR point?
Just change the remaining MR points in your account to cash. 200MR = RM1.

Hi all

I wanna ask for American Express Platinum Credit Card. It says 1st year annual fee waiver. So after that its RM800.

Can we request MBB to waive the annual fee? and do they usually waive it?

I'm hoping to get this card for the perks of going into Plaza Premium Lounges at KLIA and LCCT

thanks

It's great to see a community of Amex holders here. May i suggest to compile a list of places who do not accept Amex?

It would help to avoid frustrations and embarrassment when you brandish your Amex in style and being told it is not accepted at their outlet.
We did list out the places that accept AMEX last time. It's in this thread somewhere, or probably in the previous version.

Has anyone ever redeemed your shopping voucher at those on-the-spot outlets using your Maybank credit card ? How is it done ? Do we need a PIN or something ?

I redeemed at Carefour before. No PIN required.

The procedures are the same as you perform a redemption at Maybank CC centre at Maybank Tower or 1U.
Could you please explain further ? I've not done this before. Not even at Maybank credit card centre.

they will put into the machine and swipe
you then check the receipt and sign biggrin.gif

They will ask you to fill a redemption form.

Then ask for your card and use a reading machine like the card machine to check/adjust the TP.
Ok. Thanks guys smile.gif

Updates !!!

Maybank - AMEX
1 Apr 2011
- HKD800 > RM319.56 (HKD100 = RM39.945)

**Wawasan Sentosa's HKD rate on 1/4/2011 was HKD100 = RM39.25

I was going to pay by cash for the items that i bought at SOGO but then, i saw this American Express Select logo on the shelf. So i asked the saleslady if i can any further discount if i were to pay using AMEX and was told that i can get an extra HKD100 off the bill. The saleslady was very surprise that i have an AMEX. She said that this card is extremely rare in Hong Kong biggrin.gif
