Hi Guys,

any link on the "tightening of slide" .. it seem to be the main problem for this phone, and I want to know if I can D-I-Y prior to getting the phone.

Also, anyone sent their phone for repair on the slide b4? I'm curious on the cost of repair as i'm abit on the klutz side..  tongue.gif

Notification LED on? I suspect underclock. You got use SetCPU or any CPU profiling app ah? MexDroid is based on CM7, and CM7 has a built-in profiling menu if I not mistaken. Check if you played with the settings there too much.
*
Yup, cm7 do have cpu profile build it. In the settings menu, cynogenmod, performance, cpu.

I'm still using 806mhz, low on 245mhz, and on demand. Hmm, if overclock, it always have problem of screen turn on difficulties.

But the performance diff of 800 and 1.1 is huge. Argh..

Yes in my original settings in cm7 cpu profile is 1.4/1.8 which cause my battery - super hot. So i switch it to 206/806 on demand. Is that the fault? >_<
*
Haha, smartphone wasn't that smart after all huh?

Probably the kernel is optimzed for that speed, thus as djfoo said underclock then caused the problem.

somehow i heard someone said official stock will turn s-off. but of course rooted rom such as
"Vision Sense 1.82.405.1 Untouched (from WWE RUU): Rooted/Deodexed"
"Virtuous v1.0.1 (HTC Sense 1.85.72.2) w/Fixes & Enhancements"
altho they both based on 1.82 and 1.85, but they wont turn s-off.

only those from OTA will.

thats what i heard tho.

i found out something that g2 battery actually similar to touchpro2/evo.. but tp2/evo battery is a bit thicker.

i got myself a tp2 last time, but spoilt. so i basically got 2 extra tp2's battery. 1 from oem, 1 from mugenpower.

i guess, i will mod the battery and fit it into my g2 once i get back to msia. there is guide for this in xda too.

i am also having problem with google calender. Although I sync the phone with google, all 3 components, contacts, gmail and calender, the calender online is not updated with the phone calender.........

also, is there any way of transferring the content of the old events in outlook to google calender, as i use it as a dairy as well?...

i am a bit disappointed with android, it is obviously not a bug free as iphone, where synchronisation is concerned..........
*
Totally agreed. The enterprise function footprint sucks badly! No native task app. No full HTML hotmail support. No exchange task. HTC sense mail have problem with hotmail. Too little useful email gesture n stuff like that..

N btw, I'm using sandisk 16gb class 2 and nokia 8gb class 6. Nothing happen to me at all.

Hey guys, I just changed to a 1800 mah mugen power battery yesterday. My battery life can said to be significantly increased. Dragged from roughly 8 hours of data hsdpa connected, now is roughly around 12 - 15 hours interrupted.

The mugen power battery is bought when I was using HTC touch pro 2. There is a guide in teaching how to mod the battery to use it for our desire z. Just use nail clipper clip off the side a little bit. The guide said to tear off the label because of thickness, but my mugen can fit just nice without taking off the label.

newbie here,what mean by bootloaders?
desire Z will be unlock also or just newly release HTC mobile will have it?
*
desire z rom version of 1.34 and 1.72 have an unlocked bootloader.

1.84 is locked, but easily downgrade and enjoy unlocked bootloader's features.

you need to root, then flash into custom ROM... but not original Sense 3.0...
it is just partial like ppl integrate in lock screen, sms, camera and others Sense 3.0 functions... smile.gif

some of my screenshots... please go thru your self...

lol the file size does't really do much difference, coz the internal memory of phone is divided into 575MB (ROM) + 1.21GB (Internal storage). Your installed apps will be saved in the internal storage of 1.2GB anyway.

Your problem would be the heavy Sense 3.0 features that take up quite a bit of RAM. I tried it and didn't like my apps getting pushed out of memory to support Sense widgets.
*
that is the correct size if u r using Desire Z. Tmobile G2 have way less system partition as they dont have sense rom. i ought to flash DesireZ HBOOT to support sense 3.0 rom.

well, i generally hate sense rom not because of fancy stuff, but our misery ram of 512mb push the sense out from memory when i load heavy program such as camera/browser. so whenever i load homescreen, it keeps loading. really annoying.

since then, im stucked with miui with its fancy and rather usable launcher. tongue.gif

btw, anyone interested with XiaoMi?

well i would prefer Android system... but that is your choice... 6 hours on 3G is still ok la... not that bad... if heavy user like us mostly you need to get a Car Charger or even a back up battery on hand... i might get a Ori Desire Z battery soon for back up usage... smile.gif
but swapping battery is a lil troublesome... if not a power pack is good for ppl whom always on the go...
*
i would suggest u to get a Mugen power battery of 1800mah. previously i have data connection on for 24/7. it could last me for 12 hours top. my original battery only like 6-7 hours top back then.

besides, mugen do have an app in market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.M...e=search_result

allow u to swap battery while keeping the calibration data so that it perform best of each battery.

im using mugen now, but i canceled my data plan. my battery last 48 hours top now. i know its a bit insane, but it do. i unplugged in 9am in the morning, until 2pm in the afternoon it shows 100%. tongue.gif

How much did you buy the battery for? Where did you get it?
*
i bought it long time ago when im using touch pro 2. this battery fits Desire Z with lil modification.

i forgot whats d price already. but i ordered it online and waited weeks for it to arrive. compare to Momax (i previously had for Xperia X1), this is way better. probably is because windows mobile or the battery is just 1500mah. X1 last me 6 hours top.

GPS is top notch. My GPS always locks within 10 seconds while my friends' DHD and IS took forever to lock.

Anyways, I can confirm ChainFire3D works on the Desire Z, even without overclocking. Been waiting to play Sprinkle since the preview on Phandroid and now it's here! Damn smooth summore!
*
hmm, im curious. is the DHD and your DZ both have data and checked A-GPS function?

without data plan, DZ's gps is worse than anything else. try to turn off data and flash/reset ur phone. most probably the gps will take forever to fix. vmad.gif

either this or N8 will be my  next phone

Mr. DJfoo said it was fine for him. but for me, i can really feel the difference where my papago just refused to get fix on satellite. but whenever i turn on my AGPS, cost a little bit of data, it get fixed almost instantly, no joke.

try to restart your phone... some times it is not your problem, even my stand alone Papago R5800 device do not get any signal sometimes...
it is either is too cloudy or some others things kua... even my fren WinMo have problem to get signal that time... my GF and his partner is with him going to eat seafood at Penang that time...

it is fine for me with or without AGPS or Data plan...

another choice is back-up all your stuff using Titanium back up or backup pro... factory reset it lets see if that works... sometimes it might be caching problems kua...
*
lol, factory reset. i been constantly flashing rom months to months.

well, at the same position im comparing my gps with motorola atrix, mytouch 4g. both htc device have a bad gps reception while atrix get fixed way more faster and more accurate. and i been daily restart my phone at 3am with titanium backup. i dont see it as my phone need a restart whenever i use my phone as navigator. and not jz papago having problem, the gps problem persist throughout the platform such as Aura, google map have problem to get fix.

but again, whenever i on my data. it just works like a magic. if you ask me what rom am i using, i cant answer it exactly as im been switching from cm to miui to sense and again and again. tongue.gif

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Sep 10 2011, 11:39 AM)
Hrmm... I wiped EFS before when switching from CM6 to CM7 coz GPS breaks in CM7 the first time I ran it. Dunno if that makes any difference.
*
oh yeah, i remembered that. that zip works like a magic too. that is incredible! my gps able to fix since that. seriously before that zip, my gps jz dead. shakehead.gif

hey, IINM, there is no only-AGPS. there is only 2 option right?

1st is use satalite (real GPS) and the 2nd is to turn on wireless network. no AGPS option leh. unlike nokia s60.

but i really need a phone with at least 3.7" above to view PDF and web surfing

the reason why i need a good GPS phone is because i'm still very new to KL
*
i think the a-gps function is rom dependent. i believe MIUI and CM7 have the option.

QUOTE(michael9413 @ Sep 11 2011, 08:42 AM)
Gaps will turn on itself when you have data connection for the phone... There is no button...

@azrash, what do u mean modded googlemaps??? Google map is not as updated as Papago la, for Malaysia I think is at least 2 hrs ago...
*
i think modded google map is the one which allow offline caching of map data and enabled navigation. google map is good in searching poi instead of navigation and hence papago+google map is good navigation tool.
