Guys.. Im having a hard time choosing between alienware m17x, azus g74sx 3d and msi gt683R.. >.> can i hav some advice pls..
*
Alienware M17X R3 - Sleek design, non 3D version supports Optimus, dual GPU supported.
Asus G74SX - Redefined design, Only GTX 560M, no Raid, but cooling design may have improved. NBR members claiming its pricy this time.
MSI GT683R - Raid supported, Design may not be as cool as G74SX or M17X R3, standard nvidia GPU GTX 560M. Optimus supported? Nicely priced, balanced.

Hi Sifus,

My G53JW start to have some problem. The laptop hangs once in awhile in this past 3 days while I'm multi-tasking, with chrome, msn, and an online game on. Just today happened 3 times. So, what should I do? Thanks in advance.
*
Tried removing the RAM? One piece at a time to eliminate the cause, could be bad Memory Chip.

^seconded.
It happens to my desktop before, I'm not sure if it is that exact problem, but my temp dropped significantly the second time i repaste it (with a thinner layer).

Anyway, I finally had the time to fire up my stealth fighter, and I'm unable to unistall the preinstalled Google Chrome. Any idea?

and there's no blue glow under the LCD like the pic at first post right?
*
Only G73JH has Blue glow. The rest don't have it iinm.

I think its more like Asus still could not make a decent gaming level laptop yet, where they are not confident enough to go to the high end spectrum. Remember the infamous heating issues in G72, or even the early batch of G73 have heating issues. G53SW, heard some batches have CPU heating issue. Not to forget about the G73 vBIOS problem, keys dropping issue. G53 is already a huge step of improvement, IMO.

RoG needs to get their QC right first before heading to the high end spectrum.

If they cant get these things straight, how can you expect them to come out with a 585TX laptop? Asus definitely dont have the capability to do so for now.

I think, just give the mobile RoG department time to learn how to make decent gaming laptops. Look at how good is their RoG desktop parts, especially the mobo in overclocking. Just give them time, and they will catch up to Sager or AW.

I would want to change if i have the money. BF3 seem to be too demanding for a G73. Probably need a Sandy Bridge i7 and a 585M GTX to enjoy this game at high. On the other hand, G73 isnt that bad, compared to other laptops. We are already quite far ahead of the rest.
*
Apparently if u lurk NBR, u might find out there are several batches of Asus HD5870m cards. 2 Batches are not the GSOD ones. G73 is still good for mainstream games at High details. But don't quite expect a mobile gpu to have equal performance level as the desktop graphic.

hi .. can anybody here confirm whether the G53SX-IX042V can do naked eye 3d ??
*
There is not retail unit reviewed yet so far, so I can't say so. Rumors had it say the 3d screen is naked 3d glasses similiarly to 3DS.

So, 17" inch no naked eye?  hmm.gif
*
17" do not have naked eye. It will have nvidia 3d glasses bundled. Check the review for G73SW-3DE

QUOTE(JaWeKuSuDoKu @ Aug 8 2011, 09:22 AM)
I think it can't.. why nVIDIA bother selling out a 3d glasses if can do naked eyes 3d right?
*
nVidia still need to earn profit form selling authenticate 3D glasses as there may be some different with its nvidia 3D active shutter method compare to tv 3D shutter method.

Not all G74SX GTX 560m are 192bit. Best Buy units are using crippled 128bit GTX 560m.

Probably, upgrading primary drive to ssd and add ram on self. Further budget stretch could be 2720QM and Full HD LED Panel.

hmm... so you can sorta switch around between 3D and non-3D ? during 3D it's 1366 and non-3D it's 1920? well that's new to me, sorry for the mislead if that's the case.

if that's not the case, it's probably a customized option, which means you can choose between non-3D HD 1366 screen or 3D 1366 or non-3D FHD screens.

better check with seller first before you make the purchase.
*
Aiks, ur misleaded in the first point.

Its telling u there will be 3 version of display screen for G53SX, it will either come in HD LED(1366) or 3D HD(1366) or Full HD (1920). One of it only. It has been always like that for Malaysia Asus to cut down the spec and make it even more comparable to Best Buy unit in overseas. still, best buy offers better stuff though. Unless ur talking about A1/A2 package.

Normally A2 will be cheaper than A1 but in G74SX case A2 is overpriced due to SSD. ROFL.

how is the performance of 128bits GTX560M in  G53SX if compare with GT555M in N55SF ?
any of  the G53SX-SZ039V owner face any prob?
*
There are no G53SX-SZ039V owner yet so far. I had ask retailers, ordering it will required 1 month or longer period. However, there will be few G53SX-IX042V(3D) in stock in a few more days.

I'll try to inquire G53SX-SZ039V again next month. If they couldn't get it within 1-2 weeks, i'm ma off to G74SX(Probably).

I would go for G74 as they keyboard layout is much better if compared to other G-series notebooks. They direction keys are way too near to the numpad.  sad.gif
But of course the downside of G74 is the weight itself  laugh.gif
*
G74 has numerous numpad issue(maybe its not an issue). Still I'll try for that G53SX.

Once Again, Processor Refresh period draws close. Source

I am interested G53SX too. got few questions:
(1) got Naked 3d? can see 3d screen without using the 3d glasses?
(2) The highest resolution is 1920 x 1200 or 1368 x 768? i knew 3d mode is 1368 x 768 but how about without 3d?
Thanks
*
(1) Naked 3D version is yet to be available.
(2) Only G74sx-3DE gets 3D + Full HD Resolution. Standard G53-S will gets 3D but 1366x768 resolution 3D.

Maybe consider G74sx, biggest screen with 1920 x 1600, cool man.
cry.gif  cry.gif  stock haven't arrived JB here.... still need to wait
*
1920x1600? Never heard of it.
Full HD is 1920x1080. WXGA is 1920x1200. 2560x1600 is 30" LCD resolution.

still considered a deal for RM3999... if can drop somemore... drool.gif
imo the quality of the shutter glasses 3d should be better than naked eye 3d right? of course for ppl like me wearing glasses... 3d not really an option lol. Cause i tried samsung's naked eye 3d... head movement very restricted and the edges were blurry....
*
Like i posted, double spec finds 3d glasses troublesome. LOL.

Guys, which shop would have the G53SX that has the price tag RM3999?

3D & Blu-Ray is not a priority for me so i'm opting for this, mainly because of the price tag. For the specs it's really tempting me. Perfect upgrade from my BenQ S57.

Is there 2 HDD's inside as advertised?

Thanks guys, hopefully i get to join the ROG fam. biggrin.gif

None of the shop has stock. Currently in stock is the G53SX-3DE RM4999. The RM3999 required ordering which takes about 1 month or longer time to reach.

not sure if the figures translate directly,
GTX560m with 192bit supposed to be 10% better than GTX460m
GTX560m with 192bit supposed to be 10% better than GTX 560m 128bit

GTX560m 128bit = GTX460m?

pretty sure relationship not that simple... but it comes down to whether you are at your max budget or not. Cause imo that's pretty worth it for RM4k.... unless you can't tahan less than 1080p
*
U pretty much got the idea but some proves the Crippled GTX 560m a worse performer compared to GTX 460m@ 192 bit bus.

Or u would be just nice fitting in comfortable frame at HD resolution, and doing external works on external monitor/LCD TV connected via hdmi.
