QUOTE(Jeffrey1987 @ Feb 11 2011, 04:03 AM) Dang it. My notebook auto shutdown while I'm playing my FIFA game. It happened twice. This is the screen shot after the auto shutdown: [attachmentid=2037204] Dang high temp? The ambient room temp is as low as 10 -12 degree celsius only. Time to repaste? How about you guys' opinion? tried cleaning the dust off? that did wonders for my S42.....

anti static wrap is more of precaution.... you could just touch a grounded device like every 5 minutes... or touch it once and do it naked...

i kinda use a laptop pad, no fan, but its a full aluminum pad, and it does reduce my temps by 2-3 C if my aircon is on (this is aircon vs aircon with pad) in normal room temps, no diff.

QUOTE(that_guy @ Feb 13 2011, 01:14 AM) about the address given earlier (ASUS support center), has anyone here ever been there before ? are they trust worthy ?? im getting a bit nervous after reading some stuff about asus' customer services ... well, my story is more with highpoint than with ASUS themselves. Never dealt with them before, but they did offer a free pick up from JB... QUOTE(Jeffrey1987 @ Feb 13 2011, 07:12 AM) Nope. hm... i just think changing the thermal paste is like last ditch attempt... like me reformatting my windows... what temps did you get on stuff like furmark? or the laptop cannot cope with furmark?

i get a slight increase by using a full body aluminium pad on the bottom. But that is only effective in aircon room. I'm pretty sure a pad with fan (especially the cooler master one with the huge fan in the middle and aluminium surface) because 1) the grills smack in the middle on the bottom and its huge 2)its very close to the surface, usually laptops have higher feet to raise the bottom up so air can move freely underneath, but this one is something like the macbook pros, sticks to the bottom so cooler pads will be very effective
btw i get a 2-3C drop with my aluminium pad and aircon... (that's huge for me since usually i can barely get 1C drop on other laptops...)

QUOTE(corallinkz @ Feb 16 2011, 02:02 AM) which cooler did u recommended for me to buy, for mbp, and asus modify ur whole table. The place where you put laptop cut out that bit, replace with Aluminium/copper slab(aluminium better la... cheaper) then on the underside make it like heatsink, with fins and everything. If want more power, add fans too xD and maybe some neon ah beng lights

either way you have to turn off your computer la... how to suck while the fan is moving? will damage the laptops like that...
i dun think its a major concern, i vacuum my old laptops alot of times, never spoiled it.

depends. you need that performance boost from 2630 > 2720 so much? Imo its down to whether you're willing to cut back on some power for the design, and for me the power is enough. even on the 740qm.
