Thanks a lot. Then will use my Essential Visa to settle the premiums. Thought using MBB2 Amex can get back 5x Treat Points - equivalent to almost 2.5% rebate .  tongue.gif
Which insurance company is that ?

Do you not know how to read ? Find some time and go over the the dedicated AMEX thread. Read the last few pages and you'll know why.

Great Eastern and ING
For ING, you can apply for this EON Bank INGIAFAM-EON Bank credit card. You will get 2% rebate on the premium paid. The first year credit card tax cannot be waived but for the subsequent years, yes it can be waived. Read more here > Renewal Bonus

QUOTE(ronnie @ Jan 20 2011, 11:11 AM)
OCBC has a tied up with Great Eastern, right ?
Yes. It is 2% rebate for Titanium card and 3% for Platinum. If you can charge at least RM10k into the card (anything and not just Great Eastern premiums) , they will also give you a renewal bonus of RM50 to offset the credit card service tax.

haha, in case the tax cannot be reimbursed, sweetpea you gotta do some calculation liao.
Your HLB essential gives 1% cashback, but PBB-ING gives 2%. This means, your ING premium must be worth RM5000 then only can justify that GST RM50. Get one more card just want to earn a few bucks? Worth or not worth you think twice.
The total cumulative RM5k can be from other expenses too. And one must use the card at least 36 times in order to be eligible for this renewal offer. My agent told me about this card last month and i have done the calculations. Will apply for it before my next insurance premium is due. Will go for the Gold card and request for something like RM6k or RM7k limit biggrin.gif

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Jan 20 2011, 11:19 AM)
just to add, PBB also has a tied up with ING
Do note that the rebate will only be given to those ING policies sold through Public Bank if you were to pay using the Public Bank-ING MasterCard/debit MasterCard.

Oh, Titanium can get a 2% rebate, that's great, I didnt know that . I only knew they had an OCBC-Great Eastern card or something like that . Anyway, it's not feasible to me to take the card as my Great Eastern is only about 4k a year.
But you can still use the card for other expenses. For example, you will get at least 0.75% cash back on all other expenses which is better than many other VISA and MasterCard in the market. On top of that, you will also get 1.5% rebate on tuition and medical fees.

whoah, 36 times, far more than other banks' 12 times.

Most banks do not even offer to pay you RM50 at all, no matter how many times you use their cards.

QUOTE(chemistry @ Jan 20 2011, 11:27 AM)
This card gives only 0.6% on other non-ING transactions. Who will want to spend on this card oh? sweat.gif
The total cash back given to non-ING transactions is close to 1% and not 0.6%. You will get 0.5% cash back and on top of that, you will also be rewarded with 1 Bonus Plus point for every Ringgit charged which is almost equivalent to Standard Chartered VISA Business Platinum.

Would like to ask, does anyone know what credit card can approved instants?
I need a credit card that can be ready by 2-3 days.
Go to Citibank main branch in Jalan Ampang. Credit card can be approved within an hour. Alternatively, if you earn at least RM200k per annum. You can apply for a CIMB/DA World MasterCard or VISA Infinite at CIMB Bank credit card service centre at Pavillion, Sunway Pyramid or Damansara Heights and you can get your card within an hour too just like Citibank.

@thtan

Don't generalize just so happen you don't have a use for high limit. If you don't need it then just downgrade your CL and have you done so?
If you have done so then I'll take my hat off and if you had retained your limit then ... you are no different from what you have described yourself people with high CL.
There are people who genuinely need the high limit and I couldn't understand your negative attitude.
Yeah ... simply waltz in here and broadcast to the whole world that his/her credit cards have high credit line rolleyes.gif

just curious, for those who have preference of MC than Visa, mind to share here?

I see quite a lot of ppl here want to wait for MBB MC in April..
For my case, i already have two VISA in my wallet and only one MasterCard. The plan is to cancel the MasterCard mid-2012. When it is canceled, i won't have any MasterCard anymore. This is the reason why i want to wait for the Maybankard 2 MasterCard.

Link provided by erry- above. Remember to go to MBB ATM to enable Visa Plus ATM facility and set Visa Debit transaction limit to higher than RM0, which is the default.
The VISA debit transaction limit for Maybank VISA debit card is defaulted at RM3,000, if my memory serves me correctly but it is definitely RM0. I had to set the transaction limit to RM0 myself last time as i knew i won't be using the card to pay for anything other than withdrawing cash from the ATM.

Submitted a MBB 2 Card application form on 19-01-2011 9am. Yesterday I can see the MBB 2 AMEX and MBB 2 VISA at M2U. I am an existing MBB Petronas Gold holder and using a new application without IC and cc.
Very efficient indeed. I guess this is because this product is so new and they have a sales target to achieve.

Good question, yes American Express cards are accepted at pharmacies like Guardian and Caring, not sure about Watson as I seldom visit it. Got to add this info to my blog on Maybankard 2 Cards.
I can confirm that AMEX is accepted at both Guardian and Watson. I buy at Guardian and Watson a lot. Used to pay for stuffs with my AMEX all the time.

QUOTE(H4RRY @ Jan 23 2011, 05:26 PM)
One of the reason that I might want to get a credit card is to build some credit history. Supposedly, it helps you to secure a loan or get higher credit limit and banks will trust you more. Does such thing exist here? Is there a place where you can get a copy of your credit history or every banks keep their own record?
Having some credit history or credit card specifically will make it easier for you to get a personal loan, or so i was told. This is because credit card and personal loan are both in the same category which is unsecured lending. Unlike house mortgage or hire purchase, when you fail to service the loan for several consecutive months, the bank will just seize your house/car but they can't do the same for credit card or personal loan. So basically, if you have been a credit card user for sometime. They will use your past credit card payment patterns as a reference whether or not they want to approve you the personal loan.

As for secured lending such as house mortgage and hire purchase, you don't really need a prior credit history to help you to get your loan(s) approved. All the bank needs is your paycheck and of course, the bank will also take your total liability into consideration as well. Some senior forumers have told us in the past that their house mortgage was declined because their credit cards limits are too high.

Guys i'm a total CC noob(never owned one)..i plan to get the OCBC Titanium MC. is it better to get cash rebates or get reward points? i wont spend that much, mostly on petrols only. of course some shopping..groceries...etc..
Cash rewards and reward points are more or less the same actually. Just that some banks offer much higher cash rewards (OCBC Titanium MasterCard comes to mind) or reward points (Maybankard 2 AMEX comes to mind).

By the way guys, i just found out that we can settle our 0% IPP with HSBC early without incurring any penalty charges rclxms.gif Guess i don't have to wait until next year to cut my HSBC MasterCard then.
