QUOTE(wshoh @ May 24 2011, 01:21 PM) Thanks. Pictures to come later when I've some time to spare good catch i would say...yeah...pictures time!BTW, in reply to nando's Post #1527 quoted above in The Watches Thread, I got the Mido Baroncelli Power Reserve for ~RM3.2k. Still not below RM3k but not a bad (AD) price for an elaboré (I guess so as it is only adjusted at 4 positions; top and chrono is adjusted at 5 positions, if my memory serves me well) grade ETA 2892 (more accurately, ETA 2897 since it has a power reserve complication). Was told that Mido prices are generally revised 3-5% upwards annually, which seems to be a smaller jump as compared with other brands. Added on May 24, 2011, 8:52 pm QUOTE(buncitnye @ May 24 2011, 10:32 AM) any brands. that can suits in any function. not so big and not so small size. i'm thinking of bell&ross. what do u guys think? i will suggest push your budget up a bit and look for an Omega..the SeaMaster...good movement, brand name is there, suitable for wet conditions and also formal functions....This post has been edited by nando: May 24 2011, 08:52 PM |

nah...you cant get the masterpiece with complications... let me give you more sleepless night... if you really see this as a careful, well-calculated buy that you will keep for a long long time.... save some more....and wait longer.... from 6k...you're perhaps 30-40% away from what we call a grail..... from what i read, it seems that you're not very sure what you want..and you tend to try and fit a model with your budget...now that's important.... but sometimes, it may backfire...you may end up buying something you didnt really want..just to fit your budget... do one more thing bro..ask yourself again....do i really have 2-3 models that i really want, that i will keep for a long time, that will give me the satisfaction every time i look at it... if the answer is YES, and you are not far from the price...why not save and wait longer..? so, sleep peacefully..haha but if you've already decided that you wont want to spend more than 6k for a piece, its still okay. Different people have different spending habits. For long lasting, good value for money Ball is not bad. but with Ball, you'll either like or not. Be careful of the `lume' attraction. I find myself attracted to owning a watch that will light up the cinema but after careful consideration, i havent found a particular Ball design that suits my taste. For instant recognition and wow factor (not necessary WIS but the non-WIS crowd), a Tag will always cry out loud for attention. Collectorstime.com seems to have some. Longines? check out the upcoming longines masterpiece retrograde that is coming. A bit busy looking but lots of complications in one watch... so, sleep peacefully..haha [/quote] This post has been edited by nando: May 26 2011, 09:30 AM |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ May 26 2011, 09:41 AM) was it the 2009 release? I love the look but the review kinda turn me off. nah...this one...http://www.watchtime.at/archive/wt_2009_03...2009_03_084.pdf ![]() ![]() ![]() i posted in MWF few months ago......(got some links in there) http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.ph...pic,2622.0.html interestingly, some think its more expensive...because a moonphase and day night is now added... so its now 2nd time zone, date, day, power-reserve/seconds + moonphase + daynight but some think its cheaper...because the number of pusher button reduced/simplified.... havent got time to ask local AD if they know the pricing... it does look kind of busy though..didnt feel that the day/night indicator is necessary... the previous model is more clean.. That's why you have two wrists ivanswk, Have you considered the SD 16600 instead? Used ones can be had for pretty good prices I believe. And I personally feel they look less tacky than the DSSD =/ |

QUOTE(xphossis @ Jun 30 2011, 04:57 PM) Not interested in another Jap watch and the OWC looks to tacky for me with the orange logo if you think the watch bug will be bitting you for the next 5 years..Ignore the homage part which would you prefer? Epos or Longines? and you can afford to save enough to buy a preowned Sub in next 3 years... i would even say go for the real thing..... homages seldom satisfy those poisoned by watch bug... there are people that are super conscious abt what movement is moving the hands:
there are people that are conscious abt the brand...Panerais etc, (maybe Tag too) there are those that put design/theme/size above everything... there are people who look for history... some people want robustness, toughness Sinn, Damasko etc, there are people who look for best value for $: Seikos maybe etc, there are people who wants a mixture of above.. Learn from these people....and try to understand why they think that way... but at end of day, ask yourself lo..if you wear the 1887 and everytime you look at it, you are happy, go for it... but if you wear and your heart keep on telling you `Its only a cheapo Seiko movement hidden behind a name made famous by DiCarpio, Hamilton and Pitt'....then dont go for it lo.. I find TH design nice...some cool looking watches....but i wont pay too much for it because i know for that price, there are better options around.. I personally like the 1887 and also the Aquaracer with enticing green markers... This post has been edited by nando: Jul 6 2011, 05:12 PM |

If i'm not mistaken cal 2500 for cal 9301 ..which is the new Planet Ocean Chronograph..i dont see it yet in stores ;-( for sure this price will go further up RM20k++ the orange PO (with orange leather) was selling for slightly less than 9k last year... of course if you want the more `popular; variety (orange with bracelet, or black bezel orange numbers), its rare to find these on sale. |

QUOTE(ESLord @ Jul 18 2011, 02:29 PM) Hi bros here! Overall, those into watches feels Tag is too commercialized and a buyer is probably paying for all the heavy advertising....but if you like Tag, then go for it..Am new to this thread, but not new to LYN. (was busy with PS3 and Arsenal thread). I am not really a watch collector, but am thinking to reward myself a third watch. my first proper watch is a Longiness (leather, thin type), which got it from Amex Spending 3 years ago. second watch is a Tissot (rubber strap), cost about rm 1.8 k which i wear it daily. I was thinking it is a decent good grade watch, although not premium. But reading this tread realize that it is really really low in the pyramid. Am thinking to go Tag for my 3rd watch, with metal straps, but doesnt seem to be very popular with member around here. Not sure if has aything to do with Tiger W tarnishing the image.... or the members here is more of collectors/classic watch orientated, instead of fashionable type.... Any particular issue with TH? or it is that too generic to the masses, not being unique ? Budget max is rm 10k. If you like Tag and think you will enjoy wearing one for the rest of your life, then go for Tag.... Everyone will have their own opinion- movement, history, price, quality, ... a very good example is Ball vs Tag Ringgit to ringgit, when it comes to quality, Ball is above Tag...tough watch, superlume, not too common, not too heavy on advertising.. but have a look at Ball's range and design...do you like Ball design? If not, you'll be disappointed after buying it.... just because watch forums `laughed' at Tag and recommend you to choose Ball.. If you fancy TH, just shortlist the models you are keen on and maybe the sifus can share their opinion...the pros and cons...so that you can weigh things better... if you dont shortlist... it will be a long long story...too many brand to talk about for 10k budget...Omega, used Rolex, German brands, even Seiko etc.. here's a potential deal if you want a preowned German..
Damasko, local seller. less than 6 months old, good condition. at slightly above 4k...looks reasonable... http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.ph...11.msg34978#new dont know seller personally but he regular sells his watches in that forum, so should be quite reliable... |
