heard tat some of seiko lumes are better than laco and steinhart ... any good bargain with chrono?
diver watches are generally better.

laco, steinhart u had in mind are pilot watches. Seiko no pilot watches iirc.

Guys, I called up a few retail shops at pavilion and 1u watch shop enquiring Bell&Rose BR-01 blue face limited edition

Too bad non of them are carrying this brand
Watchoppe do carry but not higher end models... Anyone of u guys know how much is it?
BR01-92 blue is LE of 500. not sure if U can find AD carrying them may have to do pre-own esp it is out in 2008
anyway it retails at US$4500 when it was released

current prices found online
eg

Dear Sifus..

Would like your opinions on this watch below:

Roger Dubuis: Horloger Genevois (White Gold)

Btw What does this mean? --> LTD 3 of 28
this watch on that site is sold out. price is wow.. US$14.8K
http://www.watches24seven.com/gallery2/mai...&g2_itemId=8919

Roger Dubuis, all inhouse. I wouldn't get their watches if they are made in 2009 or earlier.
Their movements were plague with issues.
service maybe top notch, bring it in I bet they take good care of U at a premium too!

ah .. but lasting lumes goes to laco and steinhart right? since they r using tritium ?
*
Laco and Steinhart do not use Tritium. they use Superluminova, pics on their lume is taken with 1st few minutes of darkness. after 1hr, U cannot see anything. Do return to your older post and read. Tritium or H3 only found in certain watches.

the pics in my post is to compare watches on tritium and Superluminova and Divers lume vs pilot watch lume. What is why I included swiss diver (Doxa).
U can see Laco lume is applied a little unevenly on second hands and numbers on the dial.

This table explains some numbers if U are sci person
user posted image

I don't know the application for such lume that last for a short time. Divers don't read time that early when they are in waters. In the movies, I don't read time until the movie is going to end. By that time U do need external light source.

*
in about 45mins it will fade all away.
will U bring UV light around to get Lume?
its like Solar touch light, need light to keep torch going. think about does it make sense to U to keep UV light around to keep your lume going?

Thanks for the links. I've waited about 3 months for it, although it was quite a long period and it felt like ages but I would say it is worth the wait as the watch is very well built. Will upload some pics of the back soon.

3mths isn't that bad. I waited for my nomos for ~3mths too.

is this a good buy?

this is a nice watch. sadly U will not get your sweet lume. good buy or not will really depends on the price U can get it. The ad u posted was back in March 2009.

today price is higher. was listed sgd$3874 in Dec 2008. today is at us$3452 or ~sgd$4400

Regarding the lume of the watch, so only watches with Tritium or H3 will glow for long hours, the rest will just glow for 30min to an hour like that?

Anyone has a lum tec watch and mind to share your experience? All of their watches are using their own lum-tec mdv technology, which they claimed that it can glow bright and long hour, here is the link lumtec Just want to know how true it is?
*
I am thinking they maybe the best around. check out the lume comparing with a Seiko diver

thx CK for the replies.. btw.. while surfing for PAM homages i have also came across perrelet watches which is said to be the inventor for mechanical watches. Their lower end power reserve models are kinda affordable in Ebay. Anyone knows whats the selling price of the AD here or maybe any other grey sellers.. would love to have one if the price is good.
*
the historical person Perrelet is the inventer for auto movt.
the company claims they acquire the factory started by Perrelet. It is hard to trace the link, so some ppl call it BS.
in any case they make very good watches. They mod ETA movement and finish them.

this is a grey retailer, supposedly safe. I did not try it myself.

ebay, the starting price are low U never know what they end up. Its misleading

Say around 250 - 400 SGD? Can get automatic for this price?

Or is it more advisable to buy in Malaysia? since i do not have time to wait for CW shipping before CNY

Want to shop for gift for relative's birthday biggrin.gif
