many ppl think swiss quartz are build equal. No one really care who make swiss quartz.
Ronda seem to be popular and apparently there are ETA and ISA. Are they all build equal? anyone have insights into these? http://www.watchpartsoutlet.com/watch-movements.html http://www.ofrei.com/page_197.html http://groups.google.com/group/alt.horolog...d1008b94674ee46 QUOTE ETAs are jeweled(functionally), don't drop coils too often(not counting the ham fisted shop staff) and just generally a very well built movement. Well.. within reason and size dependent (see below). The Ronda/Harley stuff look and are cheap, generally 2 jewels, but still not too bad. They do drop coils with more regularity, but tend to not rust as badly as the ETAs when they get wet, as their hand set parts are more exposed, not enclosed into a crevice like the ETA's. All in all, i'd say the ETA 955, 555, 255(maybe) etc.. modules will outlast the average Ronda. However, anything below 8 lignes, do not even bother with ETA. Get the Ronda or better yet, the Miyotas. Oh... Happy Lunar New Year! This post has been edited by patryn33: Feb 3 2011, 12:30 AM |

QUOTE(deriku @ Feb 8 2011, 12:40 AM) Any Frederique Constant owners around? Saw a model going for 2.7k after 30% discount, I believe it's a Persuasion Moonphase model. Good price? I bought a FC for my mum 2-3yrs ago. great deal at 80% off and its auto.Looks similar to the one in the link below but I'm not entirely sure as the price quoted seems low. http://www.frederique-constant.com/en/watch_FC-360M4P5.htm 30% standard AD discount. ebay going for ~1.7K. quartz watch price is like that. http://cgi.ebay.com/frederique-constant-Pe...1#ht_722wt_1139 QUOTE(forget-me-not @ Feb 9 2011, 11:07 AM) Hi All, happy CNY! not shopped there. which watch u lookin at?would like to know if anyone ordered from http://www.jurawatches.co.uk/ before. cheers, |

QUOTE(hanz079 @ Feb 10 2011, 04:32 PM) Thanks Pat, U might want to read thisI was wondering, there seems to be quite a number of brands sporting poljot movements. Moscow Classic, Buran, Aviator and etc... Is there any pros and cons? Any definitive models I should be looking at? Distinctively Russian so to speak? Poljot branded ones are hard to find... http://forums.watchuseek.com/f10/russian-w...ere-269937.html and some other post http://forums.watchuseek.com/f10/volmax-po...fused-2567.html http://forums.watchuseek.com/f10/poljot-st...ent-364180.html I would go for Buran or Aviator |

UHR chrono is on ETA 7750 and Tissot is on ETA 2836 if u don't get in bulk ETA 2836 movement cost ~US$140, its a family of 2824 ETA 7750 cost ~us$400 Tissot most likely using Elabore grade, 7750 no Standard grade so UHR must be using Elabore grade chechk the specs ![]() This post has been edited by patryn33: Feb 12 2011, 02:08 PM |
