QUOTE(chriscym @ Aug 14 2011, 10:16 PM) Make sure insurans cover it. U never know our kastam here I'm curious to know if anyone have had any problems with the Malaysian customs when shipping watches from abroad, i.e. being charged 'tax' (or perhaps solicited for a bribe). Have received 6 watches without problems myself but wondering if I have just been lucky so far...

If my grandfather gave me an Omega, or any other watch for that case, I would keep it.

QUOTE(hanz079 @ Aug 23 2011, 11:52 AM) Yo, any idea on discount rates for Frederique Constant watches? My mom is interested in one and I will be the one paying... lol I once asked a watch shop at Genting. The salesperson mentioned 30% discount for FC but I think can be further negotiated. Happy hunting!

Personally prefer Omega SMP or Longines Hydroconquest. Sub homages eg Steinhart Ocean 1, Epos divers are also nice.

QUOTE(Phonzy @ Sep 7 2011, 01:01 AM) what should a professional financial planner that wants to look good in formal clothes with tie and shows a sense of professionalism and well elegant taste watch with a budget of hm, lets say 5k I would go for Maurice Lacroix Pontos. Add a bit of $$ you can perhaps snag the chrono version. Some deals here - http://collectorstime.com/maurice-lacroix.php

Speedy without chrono function is not a Speedy. I am guessing perhaps a Seamaster AT or even a Deville?

Panerai homage made by independent watchmaker.
Romeo, how big is your wrist? The 44mm case looks big. Might order one just to see whether the PAM design appeals.

Sorry bro, I am not in MY. You can check out the Monster in flesh at any reputable Seiko dealer. I posted some pics of my Laco in the v2 forum. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1415052/+1360Although both are 42mm cases, IMO the Laco wears larger than the Monster as it is all dial, no bezel.

19% is the VAT tax. If you ship outside of EU, the tax is deducted which means the price is now (price with VAT) / 1.19, if I am not mistaken. UHR watches are only available online.

QUOTE(fluffy6640 @ Sep 15 2011, 10:44 AM) does any one know if any shops in KL or klang valley carries Steinhart watches? I think the nearest AD is in Singapore - Gnomon. Which model are you looking at?

QUOTE(kotmj @ Sep 16 2011, 04:02 PM) Not an optical illusion but simple real estate. The guy cannot wear anything larger than 36mm. The lugs are jutting out from beyond his wrist instead of following its curvature. 36mm watches remind me of my Swatch collecting days. Nowadays I never go below 40mm, 42mm being the ideal case size.

QUOTE(ivanswk @ Sep 20 2011, 02:33 PM) jughans chrono is nice, still waiting for it to appear in a pre love market Saw a Max Bill chrono available on JWWatch a few weeks back at a very attractive price. Too bad most of their watches sell in a blink of the eye.

QUOTE(sixtydee123 @ Sep 20 2011, 11:09 PM) anyone can suggest for me some decent watches that are ard 1.5-2k? dont mind 2nd hand. was looking at panerai, bellnross but all too over budget lah ._. If you are into Bell n Ross designs, can consider Steinhart aviation watches, Swiss made at less than 2k.

Both are solid quartz watches. If you don't need the chronograph function, the Nighthawk gets my vote for its dial design and also the Eco Drive technology. Good review on the Nighthawk: http://quartzimodo.com/citizen-nighthawk-bj7017-50et-review/
