It was formerly a mod, turned full game. I guess they didnt put a high price tag due to the low production cost?
The painkiller series are a bit stale now, last time I tried the demo and I stopped after 10 minutes. The original devs left due to some dispute with Jowood, and made Bulletstorm instead.

Are you guys having any problem connecting to steam ? My steam keep getting connection error.

No issue here. Close all your torrent & media streaming applications such as PPStream. If you're sharing your line with someone else, make sure the others are not running the same.

Dont you just feel sad when you see some of the Steam games giving achievements for completing a level? Its as if the devs are saying "You finished that level? Congrants! This is truly an achievement!". You expect me to be unable to finish the tutorial level, is it?...

Technically speaking. It is an achievement. You achieved something. XD Albeit not something spectacular.

Achievements built around progression (Rather than, being actual achievements) are often employed by developers to generally gauge how much of the game their players play, based on Steam global statistics.

So, I think it's more to that purpose than to give you an actual sense of achievement.
