Hey, you also gave yourself a violin from House of Violin?! What is your experience? Is that good for you? Pleases share with us!
I prefer a heavy bow, because my new bow is quite a little heavy if compare with my student bow. When i stroke on the strings, it produce so strong & powerful sounds. By the way, it also give me easier way to hold the bow correctly.
See, that's what i talk about.
When you have a good tool, it makes you more fun & comfortable way to learn your instrument.

hi there,
i think passion, ambition & motivation if you prefer puesue violin in your life.
I started my violin nearly age of 30. I am so enjoyable when i attend the class on Sunday.
I have myself the class at LS Music which under Yamaha Music School at Ampang Point, Selangor.
My teacher is nice and quite click with each other, which mean, we can communicate well, showing the demo very well, as well as explanation both on theory & practical.
My teacher also as member of ground for RTM Orchestra^^ with enough performance experiences, i think her qualification is definately suit to me as beginner.
You mentioned House of Violin, Mr Woon, right? Lol, i thought suppose to be Mr. Wong, i am sorry if i was mistaken.
You might be look on his website, there also stated out his profile, awards, eperiences, etc. You might take a reference. He's teaching also he build up the orchestra for his students to take the part to join, gain the live performance experience.
But what i concern about, will you travel from Klang to Puchong once a week for the class?
Violin. That day he choose 2 violin in the same range, both sounds different. I choose based on my personal taste, which the tone, when stroke the bow on strings, the sounds coming out should be higher, even on G string. When stroke on A & E string, its suppose light, delightful & clean & clear. The bow is absolutely great. When i grab it up, it automatically, hold in right position. But, the case comes with the violin is not my preferred type.
Plus, all instruments in House of Violin supposed has been tune & ready to play, why you still need to tune at home? -- when i got new violin, the violin shown its availability, its easy to tune, without any problem. Evn several hours practice, its stii remain the same tune^^
Last, now, it depend how far you to go?

all new violins particularly with new string can get out of tune easily. so one will find it disturbing when putting new strings on and need to tunr it every 5 minutes. sweat.gif But this will goes on for the next more or less 20 minutes only. laugh.gif

hi there,
which range of violin you bought?
I am glad that you happy with it.
I got my music stand last saturday from
stage supply which located at Jalan Imbi, cost RM40 after discount.
Music stand is adjustable for height.

The accesories that sell at House of Violin,
i mostly prefer Bow.
They have quality bow, with great horse hair.
But last time, they didnt suggest me to buy the new one, because new violin comes with the bow already.
Just i would like to get another new violin case which can store 4 bow inside. Any advise?

hi stuffi,
i start the lesson last year.
That's good experience to learn new stuff.
My teacher mainly focus on scales practice & bowing.
Still not yet go for etude.
But i still look for simple song,
like Jingle Bell, Minuet, Long Long Ago,
Auld lang Syne, to practice.
At least during practice become more enjoyable.
By the way, i also practice slur on major scales,
haha...
How about you?
Where you take the lesson?

It's good focusing on basics laugh.gif .
As a great basic is the key to great success.

I stopped my lesson and won't be going for lesson starting from this month.
I signed up for ABRSM grade 6 piano so I don't have extra time for violin lessons. Furthermore, I can't find any good teachers with reasonable prices in my area. Thus, I decided to 'teach' myself by watching some videos on youtube and learn.
