i would say go for a 2nd hand piano around 8k to 12k. You wont regret getting a piano in the end. ps: Don't look or try on a Grand Piano.. is addictive.. =S
2nd hand piano .... if is in good condition... yes... then again how many good used condition pianos are there in the market? think about humidity.... they shorten the lifespan of the piano... 'technically known as compression set' plus other factors.....how many ex-owner actually keep their pianos at RH of 50% constantly.... and if u r refering to reconditioned japanese piano? better think twice.. ops... triple times... for the age and for the money, you have plenty of choices today. they not gold.. they are rubbish wooden object discarded by japanese in favour for better instruments due to lack of performance or MUSICAL QUALITY....
grand piano... must look and try... it is just another piano that is differently designed... vertical versus horizontal.... full direct blow action versus gravity action... repetition, control and etc... get the feel of how both type of pianos react.... it doesnt matter if end of the day you ended up wif an upright... at least u gave urself a chance....
my advice... play more pianos.... and play more pianos... and play more pianos... and play more pianos... then... go from there... find the one you like... based on tone and touch... if you need time... go ahead.. u not going into a mini market buying sardins... u buying an instrument, if u find one that is right, WILL GIVE plenty of joy for the many years to come... IF u find a lemon, u will be
hv fun....
