Hey even I know it's spelled SPECTRE!

Albert Finney's role was written for Connery. Mendes said in an interview that they wanted Connery back but then decides otherwise as having Connery who is Bond would detract too much from the film. I can understand that. But without Connery there was no need for the Kincade character. The film was pretty economical with its characters up to that point; Kincade was just superfluous.

The new Q is ok if he has less screen time. He's one of those fellas who can be smug-good in short spurts but smug-annoying if given any more weight.

Btw what's the resemblance between Skyfall and Dr. No? And what's wrong with Macau? If you mean it's just too pretty to be true then yes. I never saw any such thing while I was in Macau. laugh.gif

Alright, spelling has NEVER been my STRONG POINT! As a matter of fact, not quite sure if I HAVE a strong point!! biggrin.gif

Not even sure if that is possible, since Sean Connery turned down Steven Spielberg and George Lucas for reprising his role in Indiana Jones (THANK GOODNESS). Also, I think Sean Connery had on several occasions mention that is he DONE with the James Bond franchise.

The new Q is ok if he has less screen time. He's one of those fellas who can be smug-good in short spurts but smug-annoying if given any more weight.

Oh gosh do I wholeheartedly agree!!

As you have mention, I've never seen Macau as portrayed in the movie

In terms of books sequence, Casino Royale is the first book and Dr. No is the second. So if you watch the movies in the sequence I had suggested, in Dr. No, all the key characters are in place....

Well that's what I mean when I said the last scene suggests we are going back to the old days now... biggrin.gif

I thought you were implying Dr. No was similar in ways to Skyfall, because I see nothing similar at all.

Pitch Perfect ( 2012 )

I absolutely love this movie. Maybe because there isn't alot movies on acapella, or maybe I missed it.
But this really made me feel the music and want to move with it in the cinema rclxm9.gif
The cast is great overall, Rebel Wilson really lightens up the whole thing and she was really funny. Anna Kendricks is really really pretty tongue.gif

I loved every bit of it, there was not a single part of the movie that I felt bored of. I didn't feel it was rushed or too slow but thats just my opinion smile.gif Though maybe it has too much of vulgarities eg. b***h but I'm cool with it.

I give it a solid 5/5.

2. Skyfall

My god you've become one of those General Moviegoers who only watches blockbusters!

I'm watching Heat. A real classic. The Dark Knight really owes some of its stuff to this huh.

Ted (2012)

Supposedly, a surprise hit for 2012.

Mark Walhberg is actually in a lot of quirky movies

The premise of the movie is a boy get a teddy bear for Christmas, which he names Ted, makes a wish and Ted, comes to life. They make a pact to be best friends forever.

They grown up together.

Ted becomes... Let me put it this way, his speech and actions might make some American Sailors blush....

Mark Walhberg sings in this one and I go like Mark Walhberg sings???? And then it took awhile and it then occur to me, he started out as a singer (under the moniker Marky Mark)

A lot of famous people guest star in this one (this could have easily be this year The Guru, but Seth MacFarlane were able to rein things in just enough to make it OVERLY over the top).

If you like quirky and movie like Kickass, you will like this.

Paranorman (2012)

Very interesting premise.

Norman is an 11 year old boy that... wait for it, can see dead people...

In normal society, he seems "weird".

And he is a diamond in the rough

The history of his town, includes a dreaded witch that had place a curse on the fore fathers on the town...

Norman maybe the key to undoing this...

What do I think?... The execution is flawed...

Directors Chris Butler and Sam Fell doesn't have the finesse of Pixar, nor the off beatness of Dreamworks to make this a fantastic movie

It is just okay for me...

Ted [2012]

I was expecting a full-blown comedy but then it seems the studio wants to put some serious tone in it, which really isn't needed and in turn, drags the entertainment value down for this flick. I am in the mood to laugh(especially when the trailer is so full of fun scenes, I guess you just can't trust trailer at all). They should just make the film light-hearted from the first second till the end, I mean...it has a freaking bear toy that talks, how serious can it be?

Instead, they choose to follow Hollywood 101, add some "lesson" thing in the end, one shall grow up and not stick with childhood bla bla bla and bla. That entire subplot by the second half of the movie just isn't needed, it takes away from the comedy atmosphere(and also the primary plot which is the relationship), they should just utilize the bear more and go for a full-out comedy, something closer to the like of The Hangover. I would say the "tone jump" or "mood switch" whatever worked well for Click IMO, not Ted.

Two thumbs in the middle, 6/10

The Expendables 2 [2012]

I didn't expect much(I was dragged by my friends to watch those if you are wondering why I watch this despite not expecting too much of it), but this turns out to be better than the first one. The first one is just...lacking in action and just makes them up with a lot of explosions. Yeah, I know explosions is an element in action film but literally a ton of them is just overdo, I might as well just youtube some explosion video and loop it over and over if that is what I seek.

This sequel has better action scenes, nice cameo and just better executed than the first one.

One thumb up because it's better than the first one, 6.5/10

21 Jump Street [2012]

Not sure how to describe this but it is a fun one for me. I didn't feel much about it on my first watch but the second watch-through is much more interesting. I find a lot of the scenes funny in this one and I don't even give a sh!t to Channing Tatum until I watch this. Good dialogues on some part and I think it shows the generation gap and changes in schools quite well.

Two thumbs up for a 8/10.

Total Recall (2012)

Sony spent an estimated 125,000,000 US dollars on this.

And no, it will not pull Sony out of financial woes...

Firstly, Len Wiseman is a very visual director. The production quality is very high. GCI galore.

Secondly, Len Wiseman believes in the best flattery is to emulate... Hence the JJ Abrams look (Lens flare galore), the I-Robot, robots, The Minority Report MagnaLift Cars etc (all Philip K Dick's works by the way).

Thirdly, Len Wiseman wife, Kate Becksale, is one of the main leads here, so she gets a lot of screen time.

So, put One, Two and Three together, what do you get?? Style over substance....

So in short, this is a dud....

It is a dud's DUD.

I fell asleep at the third act.

There is no chemistry between Colin Farrell, Kate Becksale and Jessica Biel (who for the life of me, I cannot understand why she is an actor, because, she couldn't even pull off a school play...)

Apart for the visual spectacle, there really is nothing to this movie.

Lol. I thought the new Total Recall wasn't bad. Not very good either, but it exceeded my expectations which to be fair were very low. It's just a mildly entertaining junk food movie. Style over substance, sure. But so was Verhoeven's. It's got nothing on the original of course, the autocab scene is one of the funniest I've ever seen.

Not impressed with the look of the new film. The entire thing is shiny sheen CGI. Not an ounce of believability or a sense of a world lived in.

So, typical popcorn movie? Or slightly better than average popcorn standard?
